• Lafarge Industries South Africa (Pty) Ltd,
(which includes the cement, readymix
concrete and the gypsum-plasterboard
operations)

Ltd (which covers the aggregate and
limestone quarrying interests).
SAFETY WHEN HANDLING CEMENT
Before starting any job, make safety the
first step in your planning.
Cement is such a commonly available product that many people use
it without giving any thought to personal protection. It is important
to take sensible handling precautions:
• Always wear protective clothing, boots, gloves and safety glasses
• Wash cement off skin immediately with water and mild soap
• Thoroughly rinse any cement in eyes with water and seek
medical attention if irritation persists
• Keep a straight back and bend at the knees when lifting bags of
cement

Lafarge roadbinding cements are fully supported
by the unique technical and laboratory resources
of Quality Department Southern Africa (QDSA)
at Industria, Gauteng. QDSA operates one of the
largest and most respected SANAS (South African
National Accreditation System) Accredited Civil
Engineering testing facilities in South Africa.
Complying with ISO/IEC 17025, the facility has
a proud sixteen-year track record of continuous
accreditation.
Scope of QDSA’s Accreditation
The SANAS accreditation covers thirty-five
test methods, including all the SANS EN
tests for Common and Masonry cements,
other relevant SANS, EN and DIN test
methods for aggregates and concrete, as well
as an in-house method for Dense Medium
Separation. Within the framework of this
accreditation, QDSA can add another 200
tests to the above methods.
