MENTAl
1. Get players to have and know their
individual performance routines
(eg. Consistent run up for Bowlers,
Consistent set up for Batters and
Fielders move in with bowlers/ hands
up ready)
dress, warm ups, training and playing.
TEcHNIcAl
Cricket is a skill game requiring high
levels of technique. To ensure success
the following key technical aspects
need to be reinforced:
1. Batting: Setup with centre marked,
grip, stance and backlift correct.
Control bat with top hand.
Footwork either forward or back
2. Pace Bowling: Run up - efficient
running technique and in
line with target.
Action – compact and in line with
target.
Seam – keep the seam upright to
allow movement.
3. Spin Bowling: Run up – relatively
straight and relaxed.
Action – strong front arm, high
release point to allow over spin on
ball
4. Fielding: Move in with the bowler
in an athletic position/ hands open
and up
PHYSIcAl
1. Use TSS warm up plan (overleaf)
2. R.I.C.E. and D.R.A.B.C. all injuries and
report any incidents
3. Manage pace bowler’s workloads so
they are not bowling more than two
sessions a week at training.
TAcTIcAl
1. Develop and support effective
captains who lead by skill, character
and proactive decision making. Give
them the chance to lead.
2. In training, provide activities that
enable players to make smart
tactical decisions. (eg. Centre Wicket
Scenarios, Game Sense Net sessions)
Discuss their solutions with them.
3. Know the rules of the GPS
Cricket Competition.
4. Our processes in Warm Up
and Game Day is to:
a. Bowl: “consistently hitting the top
of off stump”
b. Bat: “straight and conservative
early” then look to “hit the ball
into gaps” and “run hard between
wickets”
c. Field: “with players positioned for
good bowling”, “attack the ball”
and “be busy supporting your
team”
