Dee Rangers; A History Lesson
With the birth of the new website (read all about it with Benners on page xx) there has
been some questions asked about the history of Chester’s longest serving Sunday
League team.
Who is the Top Goal Scorer? When were we formed? Who was in charge then and now?
Between Ryan and Benners they have been doing their best to find out the answers; the
first question was raised when the great date debate began.
“A quartet of players (Paul Spruce, Phil Thacker, Kerry Driver and Pete Chaloner)
hankered though to form their own Sunday League side. In 1980-81 season they
became aware that Sunday League side New Inn had slid into irreconcilable financial
difficulties.”
Eventually it was concluded, Dee Rangers dates back to its first full season in 1981/82. ..
We are proud to be written in the archives of Chester Sunday Football and are looking
forward to our 32 nd Season in the famous Blue and White.
