FOUR STRAIGHT
The team of Parts Unlimited, Thor and Monster
Energy/Kawasaki’s Ryan Villopoto were dominant
again in the 2014 Monster Energy Supercross season
that ended with Villopoto’s record-tying fourth
consecutive championship. Villopoto became only the
second rider to win four straight titles in the history of
the sport.
Villopoto’s fourth championship was wrapped up with
a race to spare. But his journey to the title was not
without challenges. He faced one of the most talented
groups of Supercross racers in history. He started the
season with two non-podium finishes. And the tracks
were some of the most challenging the series had
ever raced. But Villopoto showed a true champion’s
determination by overcoming these obstacles to claim
seven victories (the most of any rider this season).
Villopoto ended the season in dominating fashion:
he led the final 80 laps of the season and won the final
four races to win his fourth title with style.
And Villopoto is not done yet! He will return in 2015
with the goal of being the first-ever rider to win five
straight Supercross championships.
