both audition and open enrollment

disadvantaged. Siblings are

KATRINA ROSE DIDERIKSEN (Tracy
Turnblad) is excited to be reunited with her

GRETCHEN BIEBER (Amber Von Tussle) is
just tickled to get to do Hairspray again! She
has been lucky enough to spend her recent
years playing lots of teenagers. Very flattering.
Some favorite adolescents include Sharpay in
High School Musical 1 & 2, Suzy in The
Marvelous Wonderette’s, and Brenda in the
final Broadway company of Hairspray. Many,
many thanks to my extremely supportive loved
ones, all of the folks at TUTS and Rusty. Proud

GAELEN GILLILAND (Velma Von Tussle)
was last seen on Broadway in 9 To 5 (original
cast), understudying and performing the role of
Judy. Previous Broadway productions include
Elle’s Mom in Legally Blonde (original cast &
MTV Recording) and Shen Shen in Wicked.
Touring credits include: Seussical, The Music
of Andrew Lloyd Webber, The Sound of
Music and Grease. She was also seen in the
2009 Tony Awards and at Carnegie Hall

SUSAN O. KOOZIN (Prudy Pingleton/Gym
Teacher/Matron) is happy to be back at TUTS
after appearing in last season’s The Sound of
Music. She is best known to local audiences for
her roles in two of the longest-running
productions in Houston’s history, Always…
Patsy Cline and The Great American Trailer
Park Musical, both at Stages Repertory Theatre.
Her many performances in Houston include Big
Edie in Grey Gardens and Susannah in the
World Premiere of Black Pearl Sings.

INGA BALLARD (Motormouth Maybelle) is
pleased to make her debut at TUTS. She has
played Motormouth numerous times;
Sacramento Music Circus; North Shore Music
Theatre (IRNE nominee) and The Cape

Mama and Topsy in The Colored Museum at
Crossroads Theatre Company; B.J. in Smokey
Joe’s Café, Sarah’s Friend in Ragtime and

JIMMY F. PHILLIPS (Harrimin F.
Spritzer/Principal/Mr. Pinky/Guard) is a
native Houstonian. Acting credits include
Grey Gardens, Sleeping Beauty Panto
(Stages); China! The Whole Enchilada, The
Musical of Musicals-The Musical, The Big
Bang! (Theater LaB Houston); Urinetown
(Main Street Theater); The Fantasticks (A.D.
Players); Brigadoon, Can-Can, The Music
Man (TUTS); My Night With Reg (Little Room
Downstairs) for which he received a Best
Performance of 1999 mention in Backstage
West magazine. He received his B.F.A. at
Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri, and
teaches theater at Annunciation Orthodox
Middle School.

ARBENDER ROBINSON (Seaweed J. Stubbs)
Broadway Credits: Hairspray, Ragtime, Hair,
The Little Mermaid. Was a featured vocalist with
Royal Caribbean Cruises and a studio vocalist
for the Walt Disney Organization. Regional
Credits: Smokey Joe’s Cafe, Five Guys Named
Moe, Aida, Joseph and..... Dreamcoat, Miss
Saigon. When not performing, Arbender works
as an advocate for Autism Awareness. Mom

GERRA’ GISTAND (Little Inez) is a 6th
grader at Pershing. She is known for her
National Anthem solo work for Houston’s
professional teams. Gerra’ studies acting at
TUTS and Pershing Middle School, Ensemble
Theatre, and MacGregor Elementary. Recent
performances include: My Son Pinocchio Jr,
Beauty and the Beast, Left Back, Sala
Cinderella, The Wiz, and What About the
Children. “What GOD has for ME, is for ME,”

TIFFANY ENGEN (Ensemble/Shelley) recently
played Serena in the National Tour of Legally

JUSTIN MICHAEL FINCH (Ensemble) is a
senior musical theatre major at SHSU. Stages
Repertory Theatre: Panto Cinderella. SHSU:
The Secret Garden (Archibald), The Full Monty
(Malcolm), Rent, Thoroughly Modern Millie.

NATHANIEL FLATT (Ensemble/Sketch) has
been featured on shows like Glee, Pretty Little
Liars, Starter Wife and The Academy Awards.
Films: 500 Days of Summer, Every Little Step
and numerous commercial/print campaigns. The
last few years he was signed to Warner Brothers
Records in the pop group, V Factory, which had
a Billboard Top 40 hit, Lovestruck, last spring.

CARLAJ. HARGROVE (Ensemble/ Peaches) is
a graduate of Howard University and Penn State.
Her Broadway credits include Peaches/ Dynamite
in Hairspray and Ronnette in Little Shop of
Horrors. She recently performed the role of Gary
Coleman in Avenue Q at Gateway Playhouse and
Nina Simone in Soul Doctor at Le Petit Theatre.
MIKE KELTON (Ensemble/Fender) is so
pumped to be doing Hairspray again at TUTS.
Just off the National Tour, Mike is proud to
step into Fender’s sweater vest. A proud
graduate of The University of Michigan, Mike

KEITH MCCANN (Ensemble/IQ), TUTS debut!
Californian and recent graduate of The Juilliard
School BFA, Dance. At Juilliard, Keith performed
the works of Paul Taylor, Jose Limon, Ohad
Naharin, and Azure Barton to name a few. Keith
would like to thank his family and Jerry for always
believing in him.
DESTINEE REA MCGINNIS (Ensemble/
Lorraine) A Senior at SHSU, she is so blessed to
be making her TUTS debut with Hairspray! Some
of her favorite roles are Normal Jean (The Colored
Museum), Izzy (As it is in Heaven), and Mimi

TIMOTHY MCNEILL (Ensemble/ Duane) is
excited to be a part of this phenomenal cast and
thrilled to be performing on the Sarofim Hall
stage once again. He was last here as a cast
member of The Wizard of Oz national tour.

KELLEY PETERS (Ensemble/Lou Ann) is
thrilled to be making her TUTS debut in Hairspray.
She is a junior at Sam Houston earning a BFA in
Musical Theatre. Previous roles: West Side Story
(Maria), Miss Saigon (Kim), and Chicago
(Veronica). Kelley also sings in her band, Kelley
Peters Trio, that plays in and around Houston.

CANDICE MARIE WOODS (Ensemble/
Pearl) is a native of Garland, TX who comes
directly from the national tour of Legally
Blonde (Pilar). She has been seen previously in
the Broadway production of Hairspray
(Dynamite - u/s Inez), the U.S. tour of Dirty
Dancing (female lead vocalist/ensemble). She
sends thanks to family and friends for their

AUSTIN ARIZPE (Student Ensemble) is
thrilled to be part of Hairspray! He most
recently performed in Tommy for ACT@TUTS.
Previous credits: When You Wish (Ensemble),
The Drowsy Chaperone (Aldolpho), earning a
Tommy Tune nomination for Best Supporting
Actor, Dracula (Title Role), The Tempest
(Sebastian), Pippin (Player), The King and I

MEREDITH BECHTEL (Student Ensemble)
16 year old Junior at The John Cooper School.

REBECCA ECKERT (Student Ensemble) is a
student at HSMT. Recently she was seen in
Little Shop of Horrors and The Who’s Tommy.
She is a member of a national/international
award winning ice skating group, Houston Ice
Theatre Skaters, as both lead and supporting
roles. Rebecca is also an accomplished
competitive dancer in jazz, tap, lyrical, ballet,
hip hop, and contemporary.
RONSON HAWKINS (Student Ensemble) is a
6th grade theater student at Pershing Middle
School, who has competed/won many honors
and awards, in HISD and UofH UIL Public
Speaking competitions. Ronson has appeared
in Gulliver’s Travels (Gulliver), Beauty and the
Beast (Beast), The Wiz (OZ) and Agasia the
Spider (Agasia). He is such a delight to watch!
BROOKE HUMPHREY (Student Ensemble)
considers it a dream come true to return to the
TUTS main stage! Other TUTS credits: The
Who’s Tommy, Little Shop of Horrors, The
Sound of Music, My Son Pinocchio Jr, and 13.

MICHELLE SMITH (Student Ensemble)
Currently attends classes at Humphrey School
of Musical Theatre (TUTS) and dances with
Dance Zone Dance Company in Houston.
Michelle has performed for TUTS, Aldine
Dance Company and Dance Zone. Michelle
has acted in a plethora of Musical Productions
and Dance Competitions. Through her gift of
performing, she has received numerous awards
and scholarships.

MATTHEW SMITH (Student Ensemble)
Currently attending classes at Humphrey
School of Musical Theatre (TUTS) and dancing
with Dance Zone Dance Company in Houston.
Matthew has taken classes and performed for
TUTS, The Houston Ballet and Aldine Dance
Company. Matthew has danced in a plethora of
Musical Productions and Dance Competitions.
CHARITY VAN TASSEL (Student Ensemble)
is 17 years old and has recently returned from
Broadway Theater Project, where she had a solo
in a Grady Bowman piece. Favorite credits:
Broadway Nat’l Tour Sound of Music (Marta),
Winter’s Tale (Mamillius) Houston Shakespeare
Festival, 13 (assistant choreographer).
CHRISTIAN WARNER (Student Ensemble)
is thrilled to be a part of the cast of Hairspray.
At 9, he went on tour with Oliver! and later cast
as Young Simba in Disney’s The Lion King on
Broadway/tour. He returned to Houston and
performed with TUTS in The Who’s Tommy, 13
The Musical and Little Shop of Horrors.
RYANN WILLIAMS (Student Ensemble) a
junior at James Madison HS, has had leading
roles in Scrooge and Rudolph the Red Nosed
Reindeer. He also played the role of Benny in
Rent. This is Ryan’s second year at TUTS and
Cross Wind Productions, a Christian film
company. Ryan is athletic and loves to read.
ROY HAMLIN (Director) is the Associate
Artistic Director of Theatre Under The Stars.
Artistic direction credits there: Little Shop of
Horrors, The Sound of Music, Disney’s When
You Wish, A Wonderful Life, 110 In The Shade,
Anything Goes, The Wizard of Oz, Brigadoon,
and for ACT @ TUTS, 13, Geppetto & Son,
The Stephen Schwartz Project, Aladdin, The
World Goes ‘Round and Pippin. He was also
associate director/casting associate for the
TUTS productions of Hair, Kiss Me, Kate, My
Fair Lady, Into the Woods and Some Like It Hot
(also the National Tour). In other regions, his
work as a performer, director, or designer
includes the American Conservatory Theatre in
San Francisco, Georgia Repertory Company,
Georgia Shakespeare, The Jekyll Island
Musical Comedy Festival, North Carolina’s
Highlands Playhouse, University of Iowa’s
Opera Theatre and Playwright’s Workshop,
Iowa’s Riverside Theatre, the Iowa
Shakespeare Project, Iowa City Civic Circle

Theatre and Florida’s Ocala Civic. Roy
regularly serves as out-of-state adjudicator for
the Louisiana Division of the Arts granting
panel on theatre and dance, as well as similar
service for Culture Arts Council of Houston and
Harris County and the Texas Commission on
the Arts. His service also includes the New
Musicals Selection Committee for the National
Alliance for Musical Theatre.
RUSTY MOWERY (Choreographer) Thrilled to
be visiting Baltimore again and reproducing Jerry
Mitchell’s amazing dances and staging. Rusty has
reproduced Hairspray in Cologne Germany and at
the Muny in St. Louis. He was also the Production
Dance Supervisor for the Broadway, 1st national
US tour and Canadian companies of Hairspray.
Rusty just recently choreographed the new
national tour of Legally Blonde the musical for
Jerry Mitchell. He was also the Associate
Director/Choreographer for Zanna, Don’t off
Broadway and reproduced Ragtime at Music
Theatre Wichita. Rusty has danced on Broadway
in Legally Blonde (original cast), Hairspray,
Seussical, Ragtime and Cats. He tour the US in
Ragtime, Fiddler On The Roof and Legally Blonde.
JEREMY RANDALL (Music Director/
Conductor), a preacher’s kid from IA, worked as
accompanist of the Des Moines Children’s
Choruses and Asst Choral Music at Hoover High
School; and music directed local productions of
Hair, Ruthless! The Musical, Damn Yankees!,
Little Shop of Horrors, and The Who’s Tommy
before moving to Chicago around the turn of the
century. Since that move, Randall has conducted
musicals large and small from Des Moines to
Tokyo. Highlights include The Wagon Wheel
Theatre, IN (Barnum, The Sound of Music), Main
Street Theatre, PA (Godspell, Cabaret); Coconut
Grove Playhouse, Miami (The News in Revue);
Boxer Rebellion Ensemble for the Theatre,
Chicago (Pippin). After spending several years in
regional theatre, Randall conducted the
Hairspray world tour in ‘06-07 and the US/Japan
tour of Rent in ‘07-08. Since then he has been the
resident music director at Surflight Theatre a
block away from the ocean on the Jersey Shore.
There he has done such shows as Hairspray,
Ragtime, Little Shop of Horrors, and a new
production of A Christmas Carol called Ebenezer
starring John Davidson. In his spare time he
conducts and music directs shows for Jersey
Shore Productions which produces full length
theatre pieces for casinos in Atlantic City, Reno,
and most recently Mystic Lake Casino in
Minneapolis, and continues to work on his pet
project, The Vagabond Cabaret Workshop which
develops new talent from NYC in smaller venues
in Iowa as benefits for local organizations.
CHRISTOPHER “KIT” BOND (Sound
Designer) returns for an eighth season with
Theatre Under The Stars. His work consists of

RICHARD WINKLER (Lighting Designer) is
always happy to be back at TUTS. Last season

York), the national tour of Evita, Dartmouth
College’s one-act festival A Mouth As Big As All
Outdoors, A Christmas Story (Cleveland Play
House), Dixie’s Tupperware Party (national
tour), Kennedy Center concerts, including Patti
Lu Pone, Angela Lansbury, George Hearn, and
Wynonna and Naomi Judd. Also: the 25th
anniversary national tour of Evita, the national
tour of Fame The Musical, and the New York
City Opera revival of Rodgers and

JON JORDAN (Hair Design) has designed hair
and wigs for over 200 shows around the country,
including the original Broadway company
of Hairspray, starring Harvey Fierstein. Also on
Broadway, Jon was the hair designer
for Fascinating Rhythm, The Rocky Horror
Show: Live, and The Wizard of Oz with Eartha
Kitt and Mickey Rooney. Jon is currently the
hair supervisor for Disney’s The Lion King on
Broadway. Other Broadway credits include 45
Seconds From Broadway, The Scarlet
Pimpernel, On The Town, James Joyce’s The
Dead with Faith Prince and Christopher Walken,
Andrew Lippa’s The Wild Party with Taye Diggs
and Idina Menzel, The King and I with Lou
Diamond Philips and Donna Murphy, Kiss of the
Spider Woman with Maria Conchita Alonzo and
Brian Stokes Mitchell, Sweeney Todd in
Concert with Patti LuPone and Neil Patrick Harris,
and School for Scandal with Tony Randall, as well as
Big League’s tours of Peter Pan,
Footloose, Tommy, 1776 and The Music Man.
ROGER ALLAN RABY (Production Stage
Manager) is a Broadway performance veteran of
such shows as Mame starring Angela Lansbury,
Sherry!, How to Succeed in Business Without
Really Trying, and Fade-Out, Fade-In starring
Carol Burnett. The 2010-11 season marks his
22nd as the TUTS’ Resident Production Stage
Manager. Hairspray is his 82nd production for
TUTS as either Director, Choreographer,
or PSM. He began his career in stage
management with the tour of A Period of
Adjustment starring William Shatner. As TUTS’
PSM, he has helmed the World Premieres of
Phantom, Sayonara, Hot Shoe Shuffle,
Zorro, What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?, and
Disney’s When You Wish; all of the Tommy
Tune Awards shows; and many TUTS Gala
presentations starring some of Broadway’s finest
talents. He PSM-ed for the National Tours of
Nine starring Sergio Franchi; Mame starring
Juliet Prowse; Camelot starring Robert Goulet;
and the original Houston Company of The Best
Little Whorehouse In Texas, which he restaged
for both the National and Las Vegas
Companies. For TUTS, he has directed/
choreographed productions of TBLWIT,
Carousel (twice), The Music Man, TUTS’
Cavalcade, Dames at Sea, Fiddler On The Roof
(twice) and for TUTS’ 25th Anniversary
Celebration, Thank Frank! For 22 years he
served as the Artistic Director for the
internationally renowned multiple Dove Awardwinning
Houston Christmas Pageant at
Houston’s First Baptist Church. He is the 2006
recipient of the Kim Hupp Memorial Award for
Outstanding Contribution to Houston Musical
Theatre presented annually by Bayou City
Concert Musicals. He recently added lyricist to
his accomplishments with his lyrics to “Parade
of the Wooden Soldiers” entitled “It’s
Christmastime” just published by Shawnee
Press. He is extremely proud to be celebrating his
50th year as a member of Actors’ Equity
Association.
LYNDA RADISI (Stage Manager) Theatrical
experience - 14 years in costuming and performing
for the Houston Christmas Pageant; 7 years as
Production Manager for Houston’s First Baptist
Church including the Christmas production and
other major events; stage management for
productions at the Grand in Galveston and Zilkha
Hall. TUTS includes The Who’s Tommy, Aladdin,
Stephen Schwartz Project, 13 and Geppetto for
ACT@TUTS, Phantom Tollbooth and Pinocchio
Jr. for the Humphreys School as well as 110 in the
Shade, West Side Story, Swing!, Beehive,
Dreamgirls, A Wonderful Life, Hello Dolly, White
Christmas, Les Miserables, Cabaret, Meet Me In
St. Louis, Sound of Music, Miss Saigon and Little
Shop of Horrors. Education - B.S. degree in
Education: Stephen F. Austin University.
JERRY MITCHELL (Original Broadway
Choreography) made his Broadway debut as
Director of Legally Blonde, for which he also
served as Choreographer. He received the Tony
Award for choreographing the Tony Awardwinning
Best Revival of La Cage Aux Folles,
having also been nominated for the Tony as
Choreographer of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels,
Hairspray and The Full Monty. For Broadway,
Jerry also choreographed Never Gonna Dance
and the revivals of Gypsy (starring Bernadette
Peters), The Rocky Horror Show and You’re A
Good Man, Charlie Brown. Jerry directed and
choreographed Peepshow, a production show
currently running at Planet Hollywood in Las
Vegas. Most recently, he choreographed Love
Never Dies, the sequel to Phantom of the Opera,
currently playing in London.
