High School Musical 1 & 2, Suzy in <strong>The</strong><br />

Marvelous Wonderette’s, and Brenda in the<br />

final Broadway company of Hairspray. Many,<br />

GAELEN GILLILAND (Velma Von Tussle)<br />

was last seen on Broadway in 9 To 5 (original<br />

cast), understudying and performing the role of<br />

Judy. Previous Broadway productions include<br />

Elle’s Mom in Legally Blonde (original cast &<br />

MTV Recording) and Shen Shen in Wicked.<br />

her roles in two of the longest-running<br />

productions in Houston’s history, Always…<br />

for the Walt Disney Organization. Regional<br />

GERRA’ GISTAND (Little Inez) is a 6th<br />

grader at Pershing. She is known for her<br />

National Anthem solo work for Houston’s<br />

<strong><strong>The</strong>atre</strong>, and MacGregor Elementary. Recent<br />

Coleman in Avenue Q at Gateway Playhouse and<br />

MIKE KELTON (Ensemble/Fender) is so<br />

pumped to be doing Hairspray again at TUTS.<br />

Just off the National Tour, Mike is proud to<br />

graduate of <strong>The</strong> University of Michigan, Mike<br />

KEITH MCCANN (Ensemble/IQ), TUTS debut!<br />

Californian and recent graduate of <strong>The</strong> Juilliard<br />

School BFA, Dance. At Juilliard, Keith performed<br />

the works of Paul Taylor, Jose Limon, Ohad<br />

Naharin, and Azure Barton to name a few. Keith<br />

would like to thank his family and Jerry for always<br />

believing in him.<br />

DESTINEE REA MCGINNIS (Ensemble/<br />

Lorraine) A Senior at SHSU, she is so blessed to<br />

be making her TUTS debut with Hairspray! Some<br />

of her favorite roles are Normal Jean (<strong>The</strong> Colored<br />

Museum), Izzy (As it is in Heaven), and Mimi<br />

TIMOTHY MCNEILL (Ensemble/ Duane) is<br />

excited to be a part of this phenomenal cast and<br />

thrilled to be performing on the Sarofim Hall<br />

stage once again. He was last here as a cast<br />

member of <strong>The</strong> Wizard of Oz national tour.<br />

KELLEY PETERS (Ensemble/Lou Ann) is<br />

thrilled to be making her TUTS debut in Hairspray.<br />

She is a junior at Sam Houston earning a BFA in<br />

Musical <strong><strong>The</strong>atre</strong>. Previous roles: West Side Story<br />

(Maria), Miss Saigon (Kim), and Chicago<br />

(Veronica). Kelley also sings in her band, Kelley<br />

Peters Trio, that plays in and around Houston.<br />

performed Once on This Island Off-Broadway<br />

with the After the Storm Foundation and appeared<br />

in “Rockers on Broadway” for Broadway Cares:<br />

SARAH ROUSSOS (Ensemble/Brenda) is<br />

thrilled to return to her birth state and make her<br />

CANDICE MARIE WOODS (Ensemble/<br />

Pearl) is a native of Garland, TX who comes<br />

directly from the national tour of Legally<br />

Blonde (Pilar). She has been seen previously in<br />

the Broadway production of Hairspray<br />

(Dynamite - u/s Inez), the U.S. tour of Dirty<br />

Dancing (female lead vocalist/ensemble). She<br />

sends thanks to family and friends for their<br />

love and support.<br />

AUSTIN ARIZPE (Student Ensemble) is<br />

thrilled to be part of Hairspray! He most<br />

recently performed in Tommy for ACT@TUTS.<br />

<strong>The</strong> Drowsy Chaperone (Aldolpho), earning a<br />

Tommy Tune nomination for Best Supporting<br />

MEREDITH BECHTEL (Student Ensemble)<br />

16 year old Junior at <strong>The</strong> John Cooper School.<br />

REBECCA ECKERT (Student Ensemble) is a<br />

student at HSMT. Recently she was seen in<br />

Little Shop of Horrors and <strong>The</strong> Who’s Tommy.<br />

She is a member of a national/international<br />

award winning ice skating group, Houston Ice<br />

<strong><strong>The</strong>atre</strong> Skaters, as both lead and supporting<br />

roles. Rebecca is also an accomplished<br />

competitive dancer in jazz, tap, lyrical, ballet,<br />

hip hop, and contemporary.<br />

RONSON HAWKINS (Student Ensemble) is a<br />

6th grade theater student at Pershing Middle<br />

School, who has competed/won many honors<br />

and awards, in HISD and UofH UIL Public<br />

Speaking competitions. Ronson has appeared<br />

in Gulliver’s Travels (Gulliver), Beauty and the<br />

Beast (Beast), <strong>The</strong> Wiz (OZ) and Agasia the<br />

Spider (Agasia). He is such a delight to watch!<br />

BROOKE HUMPHREY (Student Ensemble)<br />

considers it a dream come true to return to the<br />

TUTS main stage! Other TUTS credits: <strong>The</strong><br />

Who’s Tommy, Little Shop of Horrors, <strong>The</strong><br />

Matthew has taken classes and performed for<br />

TUTS, <strong>The</strong> Houston Ballet and Aldine Dance<br />

Company. Matthew has danced in a plethora of<br />

CHARITY VAN TASSEL (Student Ensemble)<br />

is 17 years old and has recently returned from<br />

Broadway <strong>The</strong>ater Project, where she had a solo<br />

CHRISTIAN WARNER (Student Ensemble)<br />

is thrilled to be a part of the cast of Hairspray.<br />

At 9, he went on tour with Oliver! and later cast<br />

as Young Simba in Disney’s <strong>The</strong> Lion King on<br />

Broadway/tour. He returned to Houston and<br />

performed with TUTS in <strong>The</strong> Who’s Tommy, 13<br />

<strong>The</strong> Musical and Little Shop of Horrors.<br />

RYANN WILLIAMS (Student Ensemble) a<br />

junior at James Madison HS, has had leading<br />

roles in Scrooge and Rudolph the Red Nosed<br />

Reindeer. He also played the role of Benny in<br />

Rent. This is Ryan’s second year at TUTS and<br />

Cross Wind Productions, a Christian film<br />

company. Ryan is athletic and loves to read.<br />

ROY HAMLIN (Director) is the Associate<br />

Artistic Director of <strong><strong>The</strong>atre</strong> <strong>Under</strong> <strong>The</strong> <strong>Stars</strong>.<br />

WHO’S WHO IN THE CAST<br />

<strong><strong>The</strong>atre</strong> and Florida’s Ocala Civic. Roy<br />

regularly serves as out-of-state adjudicator for<br />

the Louisiana Division of the Arts granting<br />

panel on theatre and dance, as well as similar<br />

service for Culture Arts Council of Houston and<br />

Harris County and the Texas Commission on<br />

the Arts. His service also includes the New<br />

Musicals Selection Committee for the National<br />

Alliance for Musical <strong><strong>The</strong>atre</strong>.<br />

RUSTY MOWERY (Choreographer) Thrilled to<br />

be visiting Baltimore again and reproducing Jerry<br />

Mitchell’s amazing dances and staging. Rusty has<br />

reproduced Hairspray in Cologne Germany and at<br />

the Muny in St. Louis. He was also the Production<br />

Dance Supervisor for the Broadway, 1st national<br />

US tour and Canadian companies of Hairspray.<br />

Rusty just recently choreographed the new<br />

national tour of Legally Blonde the musical for<br />

Jerry Mitchell. He was also the Associate<br />

Director/Choreographer for Zanna, Don’t off<br />

Broadway and reproduced Ragtime at Music<br />

<strong><strong>The</strong>atre</strong> Wichita. Rusty has danced on Broadway<br />

in Legally Blonde (original cast), Hairspray,<br />

Seussical, Ragtime and Cats. He tour the US in<br />

Ragtime, Fiddler On <strong>The</strong> Roof and Legally Blonde.<br />

JEREMY RANDALL (Music Director/<br />

Conductor), a preacher’s kid from IA, worked as<br />

accompanist of the Des Moines Children’s<br />

Choruses and Asst Choral Music at Hoover High<br />

School; and music directed local productions of<br />

Hair, Ruthless! <strong>The</strong> Musical, Damn Yankees!,<br />

Little Shop of Horrors, and <strong>The</strong> Who’s Tommy<br />

before moving to Chicago around the turn of the<br />

century. Since that move, Randall has conducted<br />

musicals large and small from Des Moines to<br />

Tokyo. Highlights include <strong>The</strong> Wagon Wheel<br />

<strong><strong>The</strong>atre</strong>, IN (Barnum, <strong>The</strong> Sound of Music), Main<br />

Street <strong><strong>The</strong>atre</strong>, PA (Godspell, Cabaret); Coconut<br />

Grove Playhouse, Miami (<strong>The</strong> News in Revue);<br />

Boxer Rebellion Ensemble for the <strong><strong>The</strong>atre</strong>,<br />

Chicago (Pippin). After spending several years in<br />

regional theatre, Randall conducted the<br />

Hairspray world tour in ‘06-07 and the US/Japan<br />

tour of Rent in ‘07-08. Since then he has been the<br />

resident music director at Surflight <strong><strong>The</strong>atre</strong> a<br />

block away from the ocean on the Jersey Shore.<br />

<strong>The</strong>re he has done such shows as Hairspray,<br />

Ragtime, Little Shop of Horrors, and a new<br />

production of A Christmas Carol called Ebenezer<br />

starring John Davidson. In his spare time he<br />

conducts and music directs shows for Jersey<br />

Shore Productions which produces full length<br />

theatre pieces for casinos in Atlantic City, Reno,<br />

and most recently Mystic Lake Casino in<br />

Minneapolis, and continues to work on his pet<br />

project, <strong>The</strong> Vagabond Cabaret Workshop which<br />

develops new talent from NYC in smaller venues<br />

in Iowa as benefits for local organizations.<br />

CHRISTOPHER “KIT” BOND (Sound<br />

Designer) returns for an eighth season with<br />

<strong><strong>The</strong>atre</strong> <strong>Under</strong> <strong>The</strong> <strong>Stars</strong>. His work consists of<br />

more than 30 regional theater productions and 45<br />

top New York and national touring productions,<br />

including Fame on 42nd Street, Some Like It Hot<br />

starring Tony Curtis, Guys & Dolls, Camelot with<br />

Richard Harris, South Pacific with Robert Goulet,<br />

<strong>The</strong> Radio City Christmas Spectacular with<br />

Susan Anton and Maurice Hines, Forever Plaid,<br />

Dixie’s Tupperware Party and All Shook Up.<br />

RICHARD WINKLER (Lighting Designer) is<br />

always happy to be back at TUTS. Last season<br />

he designed Little Shop of Horrors, MeetMeinSt,<br />

Louis, and Miss Saigon. Previously: Disney’s<br />

When You Wish at the Miller Outdoor <strong><strong>The</strong>atre</strong><br />

ROGER ALLAN RABY (Production Stage<br />

Manager) is a Broadway performance veteran of<br />

such shows as Mame starring Angela Lansbury,<br />

Sherry!, How to Succeed in Business Without<br />

Really Trying, and Fade-Out, Fade-In starring<br />

Carol Burnett. <strong>The</strong> 2010-11 season marks his<br />

22nd as the TUTS’ Resident Production Stage<br />

Manager. Hairspray is his 82nd production for<br />

TUTS as either Director, Choreographer,<br />

or PSM. He began his career in stage<br />

management with the tour of A Period of<br />

Adjustment starring William Shatner. As TUTS’<br />

PSM, he has helmed the World Premieres of<br />

Phantom, Sayonara, Hot Shoe Shuffle,<br />

Zorro, What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?, and<br />

Disney’s When You Wish; all of the Tommy<br />

Tune Awards shows; and many TUTS Gala<br />

presentations starring some of Broadway’s finest<br />

talents. He PSM-ed for the National Tours of<br />

Nine starring Sergio Franchi; Mame starring<br />

Juliet Prowse; Camelot starring Robert Goulet;<br />

and the original Houston Company of <strong>The</strong> Best<br />

Little Whorehouse In Texas, which he restaged<br />

for both the National and Las Vegas<br />

Companies. For TUTS, he has directed/<br />

choreographed productions of TBLWIT,<br />

Carousel (twice), <strong>The</strong> Music Man, TUTS’<br />

Cavalcade, Dames at Sea, Fiddler On <strong>The</strong> Roof<br />

(twice) and for TUTS’ 25th Anniversary<br />

Celebration, Thank Frank! For 22 years he<br />

served as the Artistic Director for the<br />

internationally renowned multiple Dove Awardwinning<br />

Houston Christmas Pageant at<br />

Houston’s First Baptist Church. He is the 2006<br />

recipient of the Kim Hupp Memorial Award for<br />

Outstanding Contribution to Houston Musical<br />

<strong><strong>The</strong>atre</strong> presented annually by Bayou City<br />

Concert Musicals. He recently added lyricist to<br />

his accomplishments with his lyrics to “Parade<br />

of the Wooden Soldiers” entitled “It’s<br />

Christmastime” just published by Shawnee<br />

Press. He is extremely proud to be celebrating his<br />

50th year as a member of Actors’ Equity<br />

Association.<br />

LYNDA RADISI (Stage Manager) <strong>The</strong>atrical<br />

experience - 14 years in costuming and performing<br />

for the Houston Christmas Pageant; 7 years as<br />

Production Manager for Houston’s First Baptist<br />

Church including the Christmas production and<br />

other major events; stage management for<br />

productions at the Grand in Galveston and Zilkha<br />

Hall. TUTS includes <strong>The</strong> Who’s Tommy, Aladdin,<br />

JERRY MITCHELL (Original Broadway<br />

Choreography) made his Broadway debut as<br />

Director of Legally Blonde, for which he also<br />

served as Choreographer. He received the Tony<br />

Award for choreographing the Tony Awardwinning<br />

Best Revival of La Cage Aux Folles,<br />

having also been nominated for the Tony as<br />

Choreographer of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels,<br />

Hairspray and <strong>The</strong> Full Monty. For Broadway,<br />

Jerry also choreographed Never Gonna Dance<br />

and the revivals of Gypsy (starring Bernadette<br />

Peters), <strong>The</strong> Rocky Horror Show and You’re A<br />

Good Man, Charlie Brown. Jerry directed and<br />

choreographed Peepshow, a production show<br />

currently running at Planet Hollywood in Las<br />

Vegas. Most recently, he choreographed Love<br />

Never Dies, the sequel to Phantom of the Opera,<br />

currently playing in London.
