2. NOTES<br />

The Notes of the meeting of 5 th March 2013 were accepted as a true record.<br />

3. DEVELOPING AND MANAGING YOUR CURRICULUM<br />

<strong>Phil</strong> welcomed Dr Grady Venville and Dr Kabilan Krishnasamy to the T&L meeting who presented<br />

on “Developing and Managing your Curriculum” (Attachment 1)<br />

4. ITEMS FOR DISCUSSION<br />

5. ITEMS IN PROGRESS SINCE PREVIOUS MEETING<br />

a. Scaling, marks distribution and student rankings<br />

No further action has been taken and while <strong>Phil</strong> has raised the matter with the DVC (Education) Alec<br />

Cameron at the University level and it was agreed that the Faculty needs to reactivate the discussion.<br />

ACTION: <strong>Phil</strong> will arrange to meet with Paul Lloyd and Nick Letch to revisit the previously<br />

proposed paper.<br />

b. Teaching expectations and rewarding outstanding teaching<br />

<strong>Phil</strong> reiterated his position that discussion of the T&L expectations paper should occur at the same<br />

time as the research expectations paper which is still being finalised.<br />

c. Grants for Indigenous students<br />

No further updates.<br />

d. Teaching and Learning Manual update<br />

In progress by Catherine Vogel<br />

e. LMS access for subject librarians<br />

Tracy Taylor confirmed that this request has been noted and will be discussed in their upcoming<br />

disciplines and management meetings.<br />

6. OTHER BUSINESS<br />

a. Central UWA Teaching and Learning Committee<br />

<strong>Phil</strong> reported that the new DVC (Education) and committee had predominantly focussed on and<br />

discussed the review of pedagogy (Education for the futures). Alec Cameron wants the role of the<br />

committee to be more strategic and as a result has recruited a Dean and Deputy Dean to serve on the<br />

committee.<br />
