What are the entry requirements?<br />

Please ask about academic requirements, as they vary from<br />

one programme to another. For all programmes you need a<br />

standard level qualification in English, and in mathematics<br />

for certain programmes.<br />

If you’re coming from outside the UK, we accept a range <strong>of</strong><br />

qualifications – please see the table below for examples.<br />

What if English isn’t my native language?<br />

You’ll need to demonstrate a level <strong>of</strong> pr<strong>of</strong>iciency. Typically<br />

we accept an IELTS score <strong>of</strong> 6.0 with no less than 5.5 in<br />

Writing and Listening. We also accept a TOEFL score <strong>of</strong><br />

80 IBT (or 550 PBT; 213 CBT).<br />

INTERNATIONAL STUDY CENTRE<br />

For international students who need to improve their English<br />

or who have to undertake additional academic preparation<br />

we <strong>of</strong>fer an Undergraduate Certificate programme. This oneyear<br />

foundation runs parallel to your first year <strong>of</strong> degree<br />

study. It combines English language preparation, academic<br />

modules and study skills. Once you’ve completed it, you go<br />

straight into the second year <strong>of</strong> your degree. This certificate<br />

is run by our International Study Centre – see page 21.<br />

How do I apply?<br />

Full-time programmes starting in September<br />

Please apply through the Universities and Colleges<br />

Admissions Service (UCAS). Log onto www.ucas.com and<br />

use the web-based system, APPLY. The initial deadline is 15<br />

January for UK/EU students and 30 June for international<br />

students. (Please note: we will consider later applications<br />

for many subjects.)<br />

Part-time study and entry in February<br />

Please apply direct to the <strong>University</strong>. You can get an<br />

application form from our Undergraduate Admissions Office,<br />

see page 21. Please note that, in most cases, part-time<br />

study is not available to students from outside the EU.<br />
