Dear Parents
At the end of the first semester Year 11s are required to sit exams in Week 10, before completing their
work placement in Week 11. Attached to this letter you will find the following documents:
1. The schedule for exam week (Week 10, 21 st – 25 th June).
2. The examination rules.
3. The full exam timetable.
4. A blank exam timetable that your child can write in when and where they have exams.
Exams are undertaken for those subjects which tend to lead to examination style assessment in Year 12.
Exams are considered to be important as not only do they provide an opportunity for further assessment,
but they also provide students with good preparation for external exams.
When your child does not have an exam they do not have to be at school and can leave if permission is
given. However, if you would like your child to remain at school an exam study room, supervised by a
teacher, operates throughout exam week. To indicate your choice could you please fill in and return the slip
below to your child’s home group teacher by Friday 4 th June.

END OF SEMESTER EXAMINATIONS
YEAR 11 – 2010
All students are asked to read the information below very carefully.
TIMETABLE
Term 2 Week 10 for Year 11 students is as follows:
- Monday – swot vac (study at home or school)
- Tuesday – exams
- Wednesday – exams
- Thursday – exams
- Friday – no lessons (you are not required to be at school, but supervision will be in
place for those who need it).
All morning exams start at 8:40 am (be at the room by 8:30 am).
All mid-morning exams start at 10:40 am (be at the room by 10:30 am).
All afternoon exams start at 1:30 pm (be at the room by 1:40 pm) – except Maths Studies –
STUDY
Unit 1 and Drama.
You are expected to be at the exam room 10 minutes before the start of an exam.
If a clash occurs between two of your exams, please speak with Mr. Kinch as soon as
possible.
If you are going to be away on a family holiday or the Kenya trip you need to see Mr. Kinch
to arrange an alternate exam time for before you leave.
Examinations will be held in rooms specified on the timetable.
Monday Week 10 is a day for private study (“swot vac”) which is a time for preparation for
examinations and completing assessment items at home. There will be a supervised study
room available at school on this day.
Where examinations are shorter than the time slot, students who do not have permission
to leave the school grounds must report to the study room (3F20). Students who have
permission to leave must sign out at the Senior School office.
Students remaining at school will be required to study quietly in the designated supervised
study room, Room 3F20. The supervised study room will be available from 8:30 am until
3:10 pm.

EXAM ROOM RULES
All students are required to wear correct school uniform when they are at school during
exam week, whether for lessons, study or exams.
Once inside the examination room, there is to be no talking.
Bags brought into the examination room will be required to be placed at the front of the
room.
The supervisor is required to check belongings at your desk for materials not permitted in
the exam room.
Mobile phones MUST be turned OFF and given to the supervising teacher.
No food or drink is allowed in the examination room, except for water.
Use of any electronic device (except a calculator where permitted) during the exam will
result in a zero score.
OTHER INFORMATION
If you are LATE or ILL please contact the school as soon as possible.
Remember to bring your own writing equipment, ruler, calculator, dictionary etc. Only
writing paper will be provided.
Keep your timetable in a prominent place at home; check it regularly.
The cafeteria will be available for recess and lunch at the usual times.
Where students do not have examinations, they will be permitted to go home where
written parental permission has been given (see front page). Students must sign out at the
Senior School office.
Year 11 Semester 1 reports, including exam and SACE results, will be distributed on Friday
2 nd July.
