student may be permitted to repeat a maximum <strong>of</strong> two academic years. A student who fails a<br />

third academic year will be recommended for dismissal.<br />

VII. Eligibility to Participate in the Advanced Clinical<br />

Training <strong>and</strong> Service Program (ACTS)<br />

<strong>Dental</strong> students must be certified by the Competency Review Board that will make a<br />

recommendati<strong>on</strong> to the <strong>Dental</strong> Student Performance Subcommittee that a student is prepared to<br />

commence the full-time service requirements <strong>of</strong> the Advanced Clinical Training <strong>and</strong> Service<br />

Program. The resp<strong>on</strong>sibility for the faculty vote has been delegated to the Student Performance<br />

Committee.<br />

VIII. Nominati<strong>on</strong> for the Doctor <strong>of</strong> <strong>Dental</strong> Surgery Degree<br />

The <strong>Dental</strong> Student Performance Committee will recommend to the Dean <strong>and</strong> the Faculty <strong>of</strong> the<br />

School <strong>of</strong> <strong>Dental</strong> Medicine those members <strong>of</strong> the (DS 4) dental student senior class who have<br />

fulfilled requirements for the DDS degree. The Dean will, in turn, recommend the nominees to<br />

the Chancellor for graduati<strong>on</strong>.<br />

Graduati<strong>on</strong> h<strong>on</strong>ors are computed excluding the final term <strong>of</strong> enrollment. Graduating Seniors may<br />

be awarded h<strong>on</strong>ors at the time <strong>of</strong> graduati<strong>on</strong> if their cumulative GPA's are above 3.50. Seniors<br />

with cumulative GPA's <strong>of</strong> 3.5-3.69 will graduate Cum Laude <strong>and</strong> 3.7-3.89 Magna Cum Laude<br />

<strong>and</strong> 3.9 <strong>and</strong> above Summa Cum Laude.
