32 annual report of philanthropy 2010–2011 The value of a UC Hastings degree is immeasurable in today’s marketplace. Given the decline in state funding across the UC system, it is imperative—as a member of the UC Hastings community—that I give back to ensure for others the same opportunities that I was afforded. The value of a degree is only as strong as the institution itself. With the College receiving less than 10 percent of its operating budget from the state, it is imperative that alumni give back and support the college that opened so many doors for us. Chip W.
