Admissions Application: Please be sure to answer all mandatory questions and sign and date the application. UC Hastings
communicates with applicants by e-mail; you must provide a current e-mail address to receive notifications and status information.
Please use your name to identify any attachments to your application. Please double-check the accuracy of your address, telephone
number, and e-mail address, all of which are required. Also, throughout the admissions process it is critical to send any address or e-
mail changes to msl@uchastings.edu.
In addition to a completed application form, each MSL application must include:
Non-Refundable $75 Application Fee: Applicants must include a check payable to UC Hastings College of the Law or
provide a fee waiver code below.
Letters of Recommendation: UC Hastings requires that you submit only two letters of recommendation. These letters can be
from professors (preferred) or employers and should attest to your academic potential and preparedness. Recommendation
letters should be sent directly to the applicant in sealed envelopes which the applicant should not open.
Statement of Purpose: Please submit an essay explaining your interest in the MSL program at UC Hastings. Statements should
not exceed four pages. Statements will be evaluated for organization, content, and clarity. Please ensure your first and last
names appear on each page of your statement. Your statement should accompany the application.
Resume/Curriculum Vitae: Applicants must submit a one to two page résumé or curriculum vitae reflecting education,
academic, employment, and professional activities. The resume or CV should accompany the application.
Transcripts: Applicants should have official, sealed copies of their transcripts sent directly to them and then be mailed along
with the application and other supporting documents to the Admissions Office. UC Hastings requires an official academic
transcript from each college, university or professional school previously attended, whether or not you graduated. Applicants
should not open the envelopes in which the transcripts are sent. Faxed/emailed transcripts or transcripts that have been opened
by the applicant will not be considered official.
Standardized Exams: Standardized test scores are not required for admission to the MSL program if you have already
completed a graduate degree. If you have not earned a graduate degree, than an official test score report not more than five years
old from one of the following tests is required:
GRE: Request score to be sent directly from ETS. The UC Hastings Code is 4342.
LSAT: Request your score to be sent directly from LSAC. The UC Hastings Code is 4342.
MCAT: Print your score report and mail it to the MSL Admissions Office along with your application. (Scores will be verified
with the American Association of Medical Colleges’ MCAT Testing Center.)
International Applicants: Students applying for the MSL program who did not earn their Bachelors’ degrees (or the equivalent) in an
English-medium undergraduate program should submit an official TOEFL score report or an official IELTS score report. The UC
Hastings code for TOEFL score reports is 4342. The scores should be less than five years old. Students who have received their
undergraduate degree from a country other than the U.S. or Canada must have their transcripts evaluated by an approved foreign
credential agency. For a list of approved agencies, please see www.naces.org.
All admission materials excluding official test scores should be submitted in one envelope and mailed to:

section of the UC Hastings website, as well as the FAFSA. You should complete these forms between January 1 and March 1 for
priority financial aid consideration. (If you have not submitted your financial aid materials by March 1, it is to your advantage to do
so as soon as possible.) You can print the Financial Aid Supplement form from the website, then complete and mail it to UC
Hastings. You can fill out the FAFSA electronically by going to http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/. Be sure to include UC Hastings' Title IV
