Admissions <strong>Application</strong>: Please be sure to answer all mandatory questions and sign and date <strong>the</strong> application. <strong>UC</strong> <strong>Hastings</strong><br />

communicates with applicants by e-mail; you must provide a current e-mail address to receive notifications and status information.<br />

Please use your name to identify any attachments to your application. Please double-check <strong>the</strong> accuracy <strong>of</strong> your address, telephone<br />

number, and e-mail address, all <strong>of</strong> which are required. Also, throughout <strong>the</strong> admissions process it is critical to send any address or e-<br />

mail changes to msl@uchastings.edu.<br />

In addition to a completed application form, each <strong>MSL</strong> application must include:<br />

Non-Refundable $75 <strong>Application</strong> Fee: Applicants must include a check payable to <strong>UC</strong> <strong>Hastings</strong> <strong>College</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Law</strong> or<br />

provide a fee waiver code below.<br />

Letters <strong>of</strong> Recommendation: <strong>UC</strong> <strong>Hastings</strong> requires that you submit only two letters <strong>of</strong> recommendation. These letters can be<br />

from pr<strong>of</strong>essors (preferred) or employers and should attest to your academic potential and preparedness. Recommendation<br />

letters should be sent directly to <strong>the</strong> applicant in sealed envelopes which <strong>the</strong> applicant should not open.<br />

Statement <strong>of</strong> Purpose: Please submit an essay explaining your interest in <strong>the</strong> <strong>MSL</strong> program at <strong>UC</strong> <strong>Hastings</strong>. Statements should<br />

not exceed four pages. Statements will be evaluated for organization, content, and clarity. Please ensure your first and last<br />

names appear on each page <strong>of</strong> your statement. Your statement should accompany <strong>the</strong> application.<br />

Resume/Curriculum Vitae: Applicants must submit a one to two page résumé or curriculum vitae reflecting education,<br />

academic, employment, and pr<strong>of</strong>essional activities. The resume or CV should accompany <strong>the</strong> application.<br />

Transcripts: Applicants should have <strong>of</strong>ficial, sealed copies <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir transcripts sent directly to <strong>the</strong>m and <strong>the</strong>n be mailed along<br />

with <strong>the</strong> application and o<strong>the</strong>r supporting documents to <strong>the</strong> Admissions Office. <strong>UC</strong> <strong>Hastings</strong> requires an <strong>of</strong>ficial academic<br />

transcript from each college, university or pr<strong>of</strong>essional school previously attended, whe<strong>the</strong>r or not you graduated. Applicants<br />

should not open <strong>the</strong> envelopes in which <strong>the</strong> transcripts are sent. Faxed/emailed transcripts or transcripts that have been opened<br />

by <strong>the</strong> applicant will not be considered <strong>of</strong>ficial.<br />

Standardized Exams: Standardized test scores are not required for admission to <strong>the</strong> <strong>MSL</strong> program if you have already<br />

completed a graduate degree. If you have not earned a graduate degree, than an <strong>of</strong>ficial test score report not more than five years<br />

old from one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> following tests is required:<br />

GRE: Request score to be sent directly from ETS. The <strong>UC</strong> <strong>Hastings</strong> Code is 4342.<br />

LSAT: Request your score to be sent directly from LSAC. The <strong>UC</strong> <strong>Hastings</strong> Code is 4342.<br />

MCAT: Print your score report and mail it to <strong>the</strong> <strong>MSL</strong> Admissions Office along with your application. (Scores will be verified<br />

with <strong>the</strong> American Association <strong>of</strong> Medical <strong>College</strong>s’ MCAT Testing Center.)<br />

International Applicants: Students applying for <strong>the</strong> <strong>MSL</strong> program who did not earn <strong>the</strong>ir Bachelors’ degrees (or <strong>the</strong> equivalent) in an<br />

English-medium undergraduate program should submit an <strong>of</strong>ficial TOEFL score report or an <strong>of</strong>ficial IELTS score report. The <strong>UC</strong><br />

<strong>Hastings</strong> code for TOEFL score reports is 4342. The scores should be less than five years old. Students who have received <strong>the</strong>ir<br />

undergraduate degree from a country o<strong>the</strong>r than <strong>the</strong> U.S. or Canada must have <strong>the</strong>ir transcripts evaluated by an approved foreign<br />

credential agency. For a list <strong>of</strong> approved agencies, please see www.naces.org.<br />
