In May/June of 2004, the Board of <strong>School</strong> Directors approved a tax increase of 8.83% in an attempt to rebuild a fund balance that had been drawn down (more on that to follow). In August of 2004, a new Superintendent of <strong>School</strong>s began his commission, replacing Dr. William Leary who had served on an interim basis after the previous superintendent Dr. Steven Wilcox had unexpectedly resigned.
