UFA CREDIT CONTEST (THE “CONTEST”)
OFFICIAL RULES AND REGULATIONS
This Contest is intended for participation in Canada only (excluding the province of
Quebec) and shall be construed and evaluated according to the laws of Canada. Please do
not proceed if you are not a legal resident of Canada (excluding the province of Quebec) at
time of entry.
1. CONTEST PERIOD: Starting on or about July 13, 2009 and ending on November 30, 2009
(the "Contest Period"). The Contest Period will be divided into two Sweepstakes Periods, as
described in Rule #3 below.
2. ELIGIBILITY: To enter and be eligible to win, a person must be a resident of Canada
(excluding the province of Quebec), 18 years of age or older, and the authorized primary
account holder of a valid credit account with United Farmers of Alberta Co-operative Limited
(“UFA”) (the “Sponsor”) as of July 13, 2009. Persons in any of the following categories are
NOT eligible to participate or win prizes in the Contest: (a) any person who, at any time on or
after May 1, 2009, was or is an elected official, employee, Petroleum Agent or an employee
of a Petroleum Agent of/for UFA, Scotiabank®, Spruceland Lumber Limited, Bar W
Petroleum and Electric, Wholesale Sports, Sportsman’s Warehouse, or their respective
parents, subsidiaries, franchisees, affiliates, associates, licensees, dealers, or service
agencies; and (b) individuals engaged in the development, production or distribution of
materials for the Contest or engaged in the administration or execution of this Contest
(collectively the “Contest Entities”), and (c) any or person domiciled with any of the above.
Delegates of UFA are not eligible to participate in the promotion.
3. HOW TO ENTER: No purchase/credit agreement necessary.
The Contest Period will be divided into three Sweepstakes Periods, as follows:

At the beginning of each Sweepstakes Period, the Sponsor will mail out a package of
information including a Credit Agreement to each of its credit account-holding members,
indicating how to activate their continued credit with Scotiabank® as their new credit provider.
Those Sponsor credit account holders who complete the Credit Agreement in full and fax it to
403-570-4025 or mail it to Box 5350 Stn. A, Calgary, AB, T2H 2J9, postmarked by the last
day of the applicable Sweepstakes Period (to be received by the fifth business day after such
date) will be automatically eligible. Upon receipt of the completed Credit Agreement by
Sponsor, credit account holders will automatically be eligible for the sweepstakes (for the
Sweepstakes Period for which the package was mailed out). Limit of one (1) entry per credit
account during the Contest Period. Customers with more than one credit account with the
Sponsor will receive a credit agreement for each credit account and by completing a Credit
Agreement or submitting a mail-in entry for each account can have multiple entries. At the
end of each of the two Sweepstakes Periods, a random draw will be conducted to select five
(5) Potential Winners (as defined herein) from among all eligible entries received for the
applicable Sweepstakes Period (for a total of fifteen (15) Potential Winners throughout the
Contest). Each Potential winner will be eligible to win one (1) of the Sweepstakes Prizes. See
Rule #4 for prize details and Rule #5 for draw details.
To enter without activating continued credit with Scotiabank, submit a self addressed
envelope, along with your name, address, phone number and current UFA account number

and mail in a separate envelope with sufficient postage to: Attention: Marketing and
Communications, Box 5350 Stn. A, Calgary, AB, T2H 2J9. You will be entered into the draw
for the Sweepstakes Period for which your package was mailed out. Entries must be
postmarked by the last day of the applicable Sweepstakes Period (to be received by the fifth
business day after such date)
4. SWEEPSTAKES PRIZES: There are fifteen (15) Sweepstakes Prizes available to be won in
this Contest.
Each Prize consists of one (1) credit of one thousand dollars ($1,000.00) to be applied to
each winner’s UFA credit account balance. This credit will be deposited to each winner’s
active credit account. Approximate Retail Value (ARV) of each Prize: $1,000.00 CAD.
The Prize must be accepted as awarded without substitution and is not transferable to
another person or account, or redeemable for cash or allowed to be sold. Cannot be used to
pay off existing balance.
Prize does not include anything not explicitly set forth in the prize description above.
5. RANDOM CONTEST DRAWINGS: Approximately ten (10) business days after the
conclusion of each Sweepstakes Period, an independent judging organization (the “Contest
Judges”) will randomly draw five (5) entries (the “Potential Winners”) from among all eligible
entries received for the applicable Sweepstakes Period. The odds of winning depend on the
total number of eligible entries received. The random draw will be held in Calgary at
approximately 1:00 PM MT. Each Potential Winner will be eligible to win one (1)
Sweepstakes Prize, subject to verification of eligibility under these Official Rules. Limit one
(1) prize per person/account.
6. HOW TO CLAIM YOUR PRIZE: Before being declared a winner and in order to be eligible to
win a prize, you must first correctly answer, without mechanical aid or assistance, a timelimited
mathematical skill-testing question to be administered by telephone. Prizes won by
persons who are eligible entrants but considered minors in their province/territory of
residence will be awarded to a parent or legal guardian who must sign and return all required
documentation outlined herein and otherwise comply with all requirements imposed on
Winner set forth herein. The Sponsor will attempt to contact the selected entrants by
telephone for a period of five (5) consecutive business days from Monday to Friday between
9:00 AM MT and 5:00 PM MT. If the Sponsor is unable to contact or speak directly with a
Potential Winner within the allotted time, then at the sole discretion of the Sponsor, that
Potential Winner may be disqualified, any prize they were entitled to may be forfeited and an
alternate eligible entry may be selected from the remaining eligible entries. Potential Winners
(or parent/legal guardian where applicable) may be required to furnish proof of identification.
Before being declared a Winner, Potential Winners (or parent/legal guardian where
applicable) may be required to execute and return a Declaration and Complete Release and
Waiver form. Declaration and Release form must be completed and returned within fifteen
(15) business days from the time it is postmarked as having been sent by the Sponsor’s
representative or the prize will be forfeited. Allow 4-6 weeks for verification of eligibility under
the Official Rules; once your eligibility is verified, the credit will be applied directly to your
credit account. Prizes will only be awarded to verified winners.
By accepting a prize, Winners consent to the use of their name, address, voice, and
statements relating to the Contest or Sponsor, and photographs or other likenesses, without
further compensation, notification or permission in any publicity or advertising carried out by
Sponsor or any related entities in any and all media now known or hereinafter developed
without territorial or time limitation, except where prohibited by law.
CONDITIONS OF ENTRY:

7. Entrants (i) acknowledge compliance with these Official Rules including all eligibility
requirements and, (ii) agree to be bound by the decisions of the Sponsor, made in their
sole discretion, which shall be final and binding in all matters relating to this Contest.
Entrants who have not complied with these Official Rules are subject to
disqualification.
8. Entrants and/or winner assume liability for injuries caused, or claimed to be caused by
participating in the Contest, by the acceptance, possession, or use of the awarded prize,
including but not limited to claims/damages for personal injury, or property damage.
Sponsor’s not responsible for entries which are lost, illegible, delayed or destroyed for any
reason.
9. As a condition of entering, entrants (or their parent or legal guardian if an eligible minor)
agree (a) to release the Contest Entities from any and all liability, loss or damage incurred
with respect to the awarding, receipt, possession, and/or use or misuse of any prize or any
travel related thereto, (b) to waive all rights to claim punitive, incidental, consequential, or any
other damages, other than for actual out-of-pocket expenses; (c) all causes of action arising
out of or connected with this Contest, or any prize awarded, shall be resolved individually,
without resort to any form of class action; and (d) any and all claims, judgments, and awards
shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, excluding attorneys’ fees and court
costs.
10. Sponsor reserves the right to suspend, cancel or modify the Contest at any time if fraud or
any other errors or other causes beyond the control of Sponsor corrupt the administration,
security, integrity or proper play of the Contest.
DISCLOSURES:
11. Any attempt by an entrant or other individual, to deliberately undermine the legitimate
operation of this Contest, including but not limited to any fraudulent claims, is a
violation of criminal and civil laws. Should such an attempt be made, the Sponsor
reserves the right to seek remedies and damages from any such individual, to the
fullest extent permitted by law, including criminal prosecution. Participants engaging
in any of the foregoing activities will be disqualified and will forfeit any prizes won.
12. In the event of any conflict with any Contest details contained in these Official Rules and
Contest details contained in point of sale, television and print, advertising, promotional
packaging and other Contest media (Contest Materials), the details of the Contest set forth in
these Official Rules shall prevail.
13. This Contest is subject to all applicable federal, provincial/territorial, and municipal laws.
14. All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability
of these Official Rules, or the rights and obligations of entrant and Sponsor in connection with
the Contest, shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the substantive laws of
the Province of Alberta without regard to Alberta conflicts of law principles. All entrants
consent to the jurisdiction and venue of the Province of Alberta.
15. The invalidity or unenforceability of any provision of these Official Rules shall not affect the
validity or enforceability of any other provision. In the event that any provision is determined
to be invalid or otherwise unenforceable or illegal, these Official Rules shall otherwise remain
in effect and shall be construed in accordance with their terms as if the invalid or illegal
provision were not contained herein. In particular, Sponsor’s employees are not authorized to
waive, modify or amend any provision or provisions of these Official Rules in any manner
whatsoever.

16. Personal information collected from entrants will be used by the Sponsor for the purpose of
administering this Contest, and in the case of the winners, Sponsor shall have the use of their
names and/or likenesses for publicity, as outlined in Rule #6. Sponsor will not sell, share or
otherwise disclose personal information of entrants with third parties, other than to third
parties engaged by Sponsor to fulfill the above purposes or as permitted or required by law.
