Assessing Unmet Interest
• Under the 1996 Policy Clarification, schools
must consider multiple factors, including:
– Requests by students and admitted students to
add or upgrade to varsity a particular sport;
– Student participation in club or intramural
sports;
– Interviews with students, admitted students,
coaches, administrators, and others regarding
interest in particular sports;
– Results of any interviews and questionnaires of
students re: interests in particular sports; and
– Past participation by admitted students in
particular interscholastic sports.
