Welcome to the 2012 Autumn edition of Trust in the Future.
On 12 July we were bestowed with a Royal seal of approval when Her Majesty The Queen attended
the official opening of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham.
This was a truly magnificent occasion – one that I can very proudly say I was a part of – enjoyed by
hundreds of patients, staff, volunteers, members and governors past and present. I hope that those
of you who were in attendance, or viewed the event, enjoyed the festivities.
Words cannot really describe the pride I feel as Chairman of this Trust. Recent months have been
undoubtedly some of the most memorable and I will reflect upon them fondly for some time to
come.
Most recently we have held governor elections for a number of both patient and public governor
positions. I would like to personally thank all those who took the time to cast their vote - it is exciting
to learn that so many of you have voted and that many members chose to stand as candidates.
You will be able to meet our Council of Governors at the forthcoming Annual General Meeting,
details of which can be found at the back of this issue.
Looking ahead to this Autumn, we have our fourth annual Best in Care Awards to look forward to
and I anticipate meeting some exceptionally dedicated Trust members in the Member of the Year and
Volunteer of the Year categories. Good luck to you all!
