In today’s global society, business in <strong>the</strong> United States<br />

and abroad continues to expand. With this expansion<br />

comes an increased demand for qualified personnel who<br />

possess a high level <strong>of</strong> technical skills, and also<br />

managerial skills to guide and direct o<strong>the</strong>r people. The<br />

Administrative Management major provides students <strong>the</strong><br />

opportunity to develop in such areas as records and<br />

information management, human resource management,<br />

information processing, and o<strong>the</strong>r administrative<br />

The Computer Information Systems curriculum has<br />

received national recognition as one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> outstanding<br />

undergraduate programs in <strong>the</strong> United States. It prepares<br />

students to plan, develop, and support computer<br />

information systems for small, mid-size, and large<br />

corporations. Besides building a solid foundation in <strong>the</strong><br />

nuts and bolts <strong>of</strong> how computer information systems work,<br />

<strong>the</strong> program provides <strong>the</strong> business know-how and<br />

communication skills needed to administer information<br />

systems in business. The curriculum is structured to instill<br />

business skills, computer information systems concepts,<br />

knowledge <strong>of</strong> information technology architecture and<br />

infrastructure, s<strong>of</strong>tware development and programming<br />

language skills, data communications, database<br />

development, and an area <strong>of</strong> emphasis chosen by <strong>the</strong><br />

student. These areas include s<strong>of</strong>tware development,<br />

database and knowledge management, computer<br />

networks and information security, and electronic<br />

commerce. An environment is <strong>of</strong>fered to students that<br />

allow <strong>the</strong>m to prepare <strong>the</strong>mselves for a lifetime <strong>of</strong> learning<br />

and growth in various information technology careers<br />

such as programmer, systems analyst, database<br />

administrator, knowledge systems developer, network<br />

systems administrator, electronic commerce systems<br />

developer, or information system consultant.<br />

The program is frequently updated with <strong>the</strong> help <strong>of</strong> an<br />

industry advisory board comprised <strong>of</strong> information<br />

technology pr<strong>of</strong>essionals from major corporations and
