His earlier career included some years as a legal advisor within a major shipping group. More recently in London, he was the Club Manager of the UK Defence Club for a number of years, before moving to Asia in 2007. He previously sailed on tankers and bulk carriers and later lectured on shipping and logistics in Hong Kong before qualifying as a solicitor. He speaks Mandarin and Cantonese and handles all types of P&I and Defence claims. Danny Ng Claims Director Felix Lai Claims Director Tel: +852 2832 4446 A master mariner with 20 years' experience, mainly on oil and product tankers, Danny came ashore in 1990, firstly as a surveyor for a local correspondent and then joining a local ship owner. Danny joined Thomas Miller in 1998 and specialises in P&I claims. He speaks Mandarin, Cantonese and some Shanghainese. Tel: +852 2832 4442 After graduating Felix spent 10 years handling shipping and transportation claims in Hong Kong. He then joined Thomas Miller in 1998 and whilst handling all types of P&I and Defence claims, in recent years he has specialised in Defence matters. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Transport and speaks both Cantonese and Mandarin.
Chris Roberts Claims Director Do Young Kim Senior Claims Executive Tel: +852 2832 4492 Chris served at sea for 6 years on tankers before a period ashore with a UK- based ship owner. After graduating in maritime studies he joined Thomas Miller in 1997 gaining extensive experience in subsequent years in a wide range of P&I and Defence claims. He specialises in tanker-related issues. Tel: +852 2832 4408 Do Young ("DY") qualified as both a naval architect and MBA before joining Thomas Miller in 1997 after a period ship broking in London. Subsequently, in London and in more recent years in Hong Kong, DY has gained wide-ranging experience in P&I matters. DY speaks Korean. Kevin Lam Claims Executive Helen Huang Claims Executive Tel: +852 2832 4418 After graduating in shipping technology from Hong Kong Polytechnic University and obtaining a legal diploma, Kelvin worked for a firm of average adjusters and P&I correspondents before joining Thomas Miller in 2005. He handles both P&I and Defence claims and speaks both Cantonese and Mandarin. Tel: +852 2832 4436 Helen joined Thomas Miller in 2005 from a local Hong Kong ship owner, having previously worked in North America for a P&I club correspondent. She holds an LLM from Southampton and is a graduate of Dalian Maritime University. Helen handles both P&I and Defence claims and speaks both Mandarin and Cantonese.
