The Counseling & Testing Center<br />
C&T provided career workshops to students at all<br />
levels <strong>of</strong> enrollment, with a view to enhanced decisionmaking<br />
across life situations.<br />
C&T also provided workshops at the Dissertation<br />
Boot Camp; a program provided by the Graduate<br />
School to assist ABD doctoral students.<br />
C&T provided an on-going graduate student support<br />
group, in addition to services available individually to<br />
graduate students.<br />
C&T staff collaborated with the UK VIP Center and<br />
university safety advisory groups, on efforts including<br />
educative programming and special services for victims<br />
<strong>of</strong> violence. C&T specifically maintains a relationship<br />
with the VIP Center to provide collaborative care for<br />
victims <strong>of</strong> violence.<br />
Students academically suspended from UK are<br />
eligible for two sessions <strong>of</strong> transitional counseling to<br />
assist them in planning for use <strong>of</strong> their time during<br />
the period <strong>of</strong> suspension; to prepare for application<br />
to return to UK; or to pursue other educational or<br />
vocational opportunities.<br />
Dr. Hellmich acted as the C&T liaison with the Veterans<br />
Support Network at UK. She attends monthly<br />
meetings consisting <strong>of</strong> a broad base <strong>of</strong> UK personnel<br />
who facilitate the admission, financial aid, retention,<br />
academic assistance, and adjustment <strong>of</strong> student<br />
veterans to the college environment. She also, met<br />
regularly with the UK Student Veterans <strong>of</strong> America<br />
Chapter to promote the counseling services available to<br />
veterans on campus. Dr. Hellmich is the liaison with<br />
the director <strong>of</strong> counseling services at the Lexington<br />
Veteran Affairs Office.<br />
Dr. Hellmich continued to meet bi-weekly to revise<br />
the Student Conduct Code, bringing the code up to<br />
national standards by providing due process for both<br />
complainants and respondents in cases involving<br />
interpersonal violence. This work includes ongoing,<br />
direct consultation with representatives <strong>of</strong> the Provost’s<br />
Office, Legal Counsel, the Dean <strong>of</strong> Student’s Office,<br />
the Director <strong>of</strong> the Center for Research on Violence<br />
Against Women, the Violence Intervention and<br />
Prevention Center and Residential Life.<br />
Dr. Sobel, as a trained pr<strong>of</strong>essional mediator, provided<br />
mediation services to the campus community. She has<br />
