<strong>University</strong> Maharani’s College, saga <strong>of</strong> heritage, unique in its own way, soul <strong>of</strong><br />
all the Women Colleges <strong>of</strong> the State, was established in 1944. This College became a<br />
constituent College <strong>of</strong> the <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Rajasthan</strong> in the year 1962. Since then, the<br />
<strong>University</strong> Maharani’s College has earned a name for itself in imparting higher education.<br />
Academic life here is oriented through Arts, Commerce and Science streams.<br />
These streams include a number <strong>of</strong> subjects to opt for and myriads options open to the<br />
students after graduation.<br />
Besides the regular pass & honours courses in Science, Arts and Commerce<br />
there are a number <strong>of</strong> currently relevant subjects <strong>of</strong>fered to the students, which orient<br />
them for various job opportunities.<br />
Languages like German, French, Urdu and Persian are also taught on a regular<br />
basis as one <strong>of</strong> the optional subjects. Fine Arts, Music, Hobby Dance and Home Science<br />
are also an important part <strong>of</strong> the curriculum.<br />
Maharani’s College wears the crown <strong>of</strong> all accessible knowledge through the<br />
highly qualified, pr<strong>of</strong>essionally sound and academically qualified faculty members, who<br />
have achieved excellence in their own field.<br />
Technical courses as well as vocational courses like Industrial Microbiology,<br />
Biotechnology, Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Computer Application (BCA), Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Business<br />
Administration (BBA), Office Management and Secretarial Practice (OMSP) are also<br />
<strong>of</strong>fered.<br />
The College is running job oriented courses i.e. Tourism, Tax Procedure and<br />
Practice, Foreign Trade: Practices and Procedures, Functional English and Fashion<br />
Designing, Personality development etc..<br />

The <strong>University</strong> Commerce College is a premier centre <strong>of</strong> commerce and<br />
business education in the country. Apart from traditional courses like B.Com. Pass and<br />
B.Com. Hons., the College has gained prominence in recent years in running pr<strong>of</strong>essional<br />
courses like BBA and BCA. The College also <strong>of</strong>fers a Vocational Course in Computer<br />
Applications and Certificate Course in Steno-typing.<br />
The College has two big playgrounds. The College also has A.C. Computer labs,<br />
containing 60 computers. The labs are linked with LAN and VAN.<br />
The College has a very large library with an enormous archive <strong>of</strong> prestigious<br />
journals and rare books.<br />
The College is one <strong>of</strong> the biggest input providers to All-India pr<strong>of</strong>essional<br />
examinations like CA, CS, ICWA and MBA. The achievements <strong>of</strong> the College in the<br />
field <strong>of</strong> games and sports, NSS, NCC and scouting are highly commendable. A unique<br />
feature <strong>of</strong> the college is its Career Counselling and Placement Centre which helps<br />
students in getting suitable employment. A large number <strong>of</strong> students were recruited last<br />
year by about 10 companies which held Campus Interviews in the College.

The College is equipped with State-<strong>of</strong>-the-Art systems and labs for imparting<br />
education and training in the field <strong>of</strong> computers and related areas. There is a highly<br />
qualified and experienced faculty for providing quality education in Commerce, Business<br />

The Law College, one <strong>of</strong> the constituent colleges <strong>of</strong> the <strong>University</strong>, is imparting<br />
high quality education. Law is a mirror <strong>of</strong> society. Law brings about social change, which<br />
in turn ensures change in the legal system. In the changed social scenario, introduction <strong>of</strong><br />
new courses, particularly relating to gender justice, human rights, environment protection,<br />
judicial reforms etc., are the main concerns beneficial to the society. In the context, the<br />
law students must have sound knowledge <strong>of</strong> philosophy and ideology <strong>of</strong> law, the<br />
background issues and modes <strong>of</strong> action. The <strong>University</strong> Law College is equipped to deal<br />
with these aspects <strong>of</strong> law with a human face.<br />
This College was established in Jaipur by the Government <strong>of</strong> the Erstwhile State<br />
<strong>of</strong> Jaipur in 1947, i.e. the year corresponding with the foundation <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Rajasthan</strong><br />
<strong>University</strong>. In the year 1953, the College was transferred by the State Government to the<br />
<strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Rajasthan</strong>. A new building ‘Vidhi Bhawan’ came in to existence and<br />
teaching in this building commenced from 1975-76. During the session 1993-94, the<br />
College was declared by the UGC as a Constituent College <strong>of</strong> the <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong><br />
<strong>Rajasthan</strong>.

For quite sometime a large number <strong>of</strong> students were also demanding opening <strong>of</strong><br />
one more institution to run law classes at the LL.B. level in the evening. Accordingly, the<br />
<strong>University</strong> Evening Law College was established from the academic session 1991-92 as a<br />
Self-Financing Institution.<br />
6. Institute <strong>of</strong> Informatics & Instrumentation, Jaipur<br />
The <strong>University</strong> has been conducting formal courses in Computer Applications<br />
since 1986. The Certificate Course in Computer Applications was started in 1986. The<br />
Diploma in Computer Applications in 1989-90 and MCA (Master <strong>of</strong> Computer<br />
Applications) courses in 1990-91.
