Catch Me If You Can!
Featuring the Fabric Collection: Climbing Jacob's Ladder
by Barbara Brackman
"In 1935, quilt collector Carrie Hall recorded the name “Catch Me If You Can” for an old
block, that has many other names including “Winding Blades”, Devil’s Puzzle”, and “Flyfoot”.
This pattern can remind us of the Underground Railroad when escaping slaves ran to
freedom. Although the block’s name is a twentieth century invention, the lively image seems
to capture the cleverness such a journey required."
