cited as having ‘outstanding universal value to humanity’. With the 1972 Convention concerning the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage, <strong>UN</strong>ESCO<br />
seeks to encourage the identification and protection of cultural and natural heritage around the world so that it may be enjoyed by all peoples. More information<br />

Note: The Convention on Wetlands, signed in Ramsar, Iran, in 1971, is an intergovernmental treaty providing the framework for national action and international<br />
cooperation for the conservation and wise use of wetlands and their resources. There are presently 146 Contracting Parties to the Convention, with 1,459 wetland<br />
sites, totalling 125.4 million hectares designated for inclusion in the Ramsar List of Wetlands of International Importance.<br />
