黄 先 生 在 致 词 中 指 出 , 近 年 来 天 津 市 经 济 快 速 成 长 ,2009 年 上 半 年 取 得 了 16% 的
生 产 总 值 成 长 。 作 为 环 渤 海 湾 经 济 区 的 中 心 , 天 津 已 经 成 为 海 内 外 投 资 者 和 工 商 企

UOB (China) Opens A Branch in Tianjin
The new branch furthers the Bank’s role to bridge
business communities of China and Southeast Asia
Singapore & Tianjin, 22 October 2009 – The United Overseas Bank Group (“UOB Group”) is
well-placed to help the business communities of China and Southeast Asia grow their business
links, through its strong presence in the region. This was highlighted by UOB Group Chairman,
Mr Wee Cho Yaw, when he spoke at a dinner reception to mark the official opening of United
Overseas Bank (China) Limited (“UOB (China)”) Tianjin Branch.
Before the reception, Mr Wee Cho Yaw met Mr Huang Xingguo, Deputy Party Secretary of the
CPC Tianjin Committee and Mayor of Tianjin. Mr Wee then hosted 300 guests to a dinner
reception. Among the VIPs who attended the event included Mr Cui Jindu, Member of the
Standing Committee of the CPC Tianjin Committee and Vice Mayor of Tianjin, as well as
Brigadier General Chin Siat Yoon, Singapore’s Ambassador to China.
In his address, Mr Wee noted that Tianjin, as the heart of the Bohai Rim economic zone, is now
the focus of local and overseas investors. He was also greatly impressed by the city’s GDP
growth of 16% in the first half of 2009.
Mr Wee Cho Yaw said, “Tianjin has a long history of trading relations with Singapore. Our
bilateral relations are now poised to move to a higher plane with the creation of the
Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City. Since its groundbreaking ceremony in September last year,
the Eco-City has attracted much attention in Singapore and I am sure it will add further depth
and breadth to our bilateral relations. UOB (China) Tianjin Branch intends to play an active role
in the vibrant business development of this fair city. We will work closely with the Tianjin
financial and business community to further strengthen the strong ties between Singapore and
Tianjin. Through our strong network in Southeast Asia including Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia
and Thailand, we are well-placed to strengthen the business links between China and
Southeast Asia.”
Vice Mayor Cui said that the setting up of UOB (China) Tianjin Branch will further help Tianjin’s
efforts to develop itself as a financial and shipping centre in North China.

Tianjin Branch is the first branch that UOB (China) has opened after its local incorporation in
China, expanding its presence in the country to a total of 10 branches and sub-branches. Tianjin
Branch will leverage the UOB Group’s wide-ranging expertise, strong branding and extensive
distribution network to reach out to the China market, especially in the Bohai Rim economic
zone.
UOB (China) Tianjin Branch currently offers a comprehensive range of foreign currency banking
services to foreign and local enterprises and individuals. It also offers RMB banking services to
foreign and local enterprises and foreign individuals. These banking services include deposits,
loans, project and trade financing, guarantees and bills discounting, and foreign currency
