General Information
Climate and Dress Code
The climate in Geneva is temperate and in June it is
usually mild and sunny but you should prepare for
rain and chilly evenings. The daytime temperature
ranges from 18º C to 28º C.
The dress code will be informal throughout the
Congress.
CME Credits
For the Congress in Geneva, EAACI will offer
Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits. The
number of CME credits that will be assigned to the
EAACI Congress 2012 in Geneva will be
announced on the Congress website prior to the
event.
Information and instructions on how to apply for
CME credits will be included in the Congress bag.
Currency
The local currency is the Swiss Franc (CHF),
CHF 1 = EUR 0,82 (Oct 2011, www.oanda.com)
EAACI Membership
EAACI gives its members priority status at EAACI
Congresses, Focused Meetings and all other EAACI
events and activities. Members over 36 years of
age receive a discount of EUR 150 on the
Registration fee and Junior members are entitled
to register to the Congress at the low “Student” fee.
EAACI offers free Junior membership to individuals
≤ 36 years of age (with online access to the
Journals Allergy and Pediatric Allergy and
Immunology). In addition EAACI also offers a 50%
reduction on membership fees to members from
countries with a GNP of less than USD 10’000 per
capita, with full membership benefits.
As an EAACI member you will be kept informed on
the latest research and developments through our
official journals Allergy and Pediatric Allergy and
Immunology (available in printed or electronic
version). These journals contain editorials, review
articles, original articles, educational series and
more. Experience and be part of the advancement
of the knowledge and practice of allergy, asthma
and immunology for optimal patient care!

Exhibition
The EAACI Congress 2012 includes an exhibition
that will be open from 09:00 - 17:30 on 17 - 19

The EAACI Congress 2012 has designated eventtravel

reduced airfares for EAACI 2012 participants.
These special fares are available for flights to
Switzerland (Geneva, Zurich, Basel, Bern) and back
between 9 June and 27 June 2012. Savings of up

Transportation
The city of Geneva is easily accessible by rail and
road networks and the Geneva International Airport
(GVA) is located 20 minutes by car from the city
centre. Visitors arriving at the Geneva International
Airport can benefit from a free public
transportation ticket, available from the machine in
the Arrival Hall, entitling them to 80 minutes free
travel throughout the Geneva public transportation
network. Tickets can also be purchased from the
machines located at bus stops (CHF or EUR change
required) and at Swiss railway stations.
All visitors staying at a hotel in Geneva can benefit
from the Geneva Transportation Card with no
additional cost. This personal and non-transferable
pass is established upon the visitor’s check-in at
the hotel enabling its holder use of the entire public
transportation network without restriction (bus,
train and boat), with validity for the entire duration
of the stay including the departure day.
From the Airport
The Geneva Palexpo Congress Centre is located
500 meters from the Geneva International Airport.
For those who wish to walk, it is approximately a 15
minutes walk from the airport to the Palexpo. You
can also take bus n° 5 from the airport to the
Palexpo (3 minutes).
From the City centre
Efficient ground transportation is available from the
Geneva Palexpo to the City centre and hotels.
Bus n° 5 (Hôpital – Palexpo– Aéroport), that links
the Geneva Palexpo with the City centre in only 15
minutes, runs frequently. The airport railway station
is located a 15 minutes walk from the Geneva
Palexpo and links to Geneva Central station, Gare
Cornavin in only 6 minutes.
Visa
Participants are advised to make their own
arrangements with respect to entering Switzerland.
Please apply for the visa within reasonable time
(minimum three months ahead of the planned

Since Geneva is located close to the French border
some hotels are located in France. If you should
arrange with your accommodation in France, please
note that special visa requirements may apply.
