Situation<br />
The Gate Riverplace Tower is a 35 story office building, which<br />
is prominently located in the downtown Jacksonville, Florida<br />
skyline. The building was originally illuminated by 48 - 1000<br />
watt mercury vapor fixtures, which happened to have been<br />
made by Sterner Lighting in the late 1960’s. To conserve energy,<br />
the owner/engineer decided to upgrade the current lighting<br />
system with a more efficient system consisting of 40 - 400 watt<br />
pulse start metal halide Sterner 595 fixtures. Due to the high<br />
quality and long life of the original Sterner Lighting fixtures, the<br />
replacement product was an easy choice.<br />
Product Recommendation<br />
Sterner Lighting’s products stood the test of time, as they<br />
had been working well since the 1960’s. The only reason the<br />
lighting system was replaced was to upgrade to a newer, more<br />
energy efficient system. The Sterner 595 fixtures not only saved<br />
energy, but were able to improve the light levels on the building,<br />
providing more drama, and did so at a lower wattage and with<br />
fewer fixtures.<br />
