In fiscal year 2009-2010, community members came
together to volunteer for a total of 30,628 hours at

Awards and recognition.
Thanks to the outstanding work of our volunteers,
Second Helpings won the Jefferson Award for
Nonprofit Volunteer Program of the Year in 2010.
The award is presented annually to an agency that
effectively uses volunteers to further their mission
and help the community.
Second Helpings volunteer Hal Cole was presented
with the Mayor’s Community Service Award in 2010
— an award that recognizes Indianapolis citizens
who make notable contributions and commitments
to community service. Hal’s work has made a major
impact — not only at Second Helpings, but also in
the Indianapolis community at large.
