Overview
This document has been created to guide
agencies and individuals in the best
practices when creating side panels for
the ninemsn network.
The side panels ad product was created to
allow our advertisers to extend their Mrec
execution to drive maximum engagement
and awareness with our audience. We
believe that it is in the best interest for our
advertisers, and our audience that side
panels are used in the way outlined in this
document. It is detrimental to both parties
if this placement is used in a way that is
confronting and doesn’t enhance the
users experience at ninemsn.

In order to simplify the ad approval
process we have created these guidelines
to help you create ads that will receive
prompt approval.

What to do

Use the side panels as an extension of
the medium rectangle.

Logo is kept away from the ninemsn
brand and is smaller in size. The logo
can be a hotspot clickthru

All promotional text is housed within the
medium rectangle and not in the side
panels

The background of the side panels
bleed into the medium rectange and
there is very little clutter.

There is only one product shot and it is
of a discreet size.

What not to do

Do not place logos next to the
ninemsn brand. Logos are not to be
bigger that the ninemsn brand.
As not all of the panel is viewable on
all screens it is recommended that
there be no promotional text to appear
in the side panels. All promotional text
should appear within the 300x250
medium rectangle. An exception will
be made if it is critical to the creative,
and then only one short message will
be accepted at a maximum of 150
pixels height.

No terms and conditions text allowed
Subtle animation is allowed, but it can only
play once - no looping. Flashing, blinking
or excessive animations will not be
approved.

Please note, due to user experience the
entire ad can not be clickable. A maximum
of 10% of the space can be a clickthru.
No call to actions in side panels.
