Chairman’s Message
Once again, I am delighted to be able to introduce Fife Coast and Countryside Trust’s
Annual report for the period April 2010 to March 2011.
This year has been one of challenges and successes. The challenges have been mainly
financial. We are operating in an increasingly difficult financial climate, particularly in the
public sector. Our support from Fife Council is subject to cuts in the same way as Council
Departments are, however as a small environmental charity we have no means of charging
the public for the services that we provide. This means that we have to get more creative in
the ways in which we raise additional funding. This year has seen our Big Green Footprint
Scheme take off and deliver great support both in Volunteer time as well as resources and
a special mention must go to Sky in Dunfermline who have helped us with both volunteers
and funds for equipment in the last twelve months.
Some of our other

successes include the completion of the Red Squirrel projects in Devilla
and Ladybank and our Dune restoration work at West Sands. We are also very excited about
our role in the Living Lomonds Landscape Partnership Project. We have submitted our first
round application which if successful, will enable us to develop plans that will generate
significant investment into the Lomond Hills area.
On behalf of myself and my fellow Trustees I hope you find our fourth annual report,
interesting. I also hope that it will encourage you to go out and explore Fife’s Countryside
for yourself.
