How Much Do I Need?... And What Do I Do?
• The Conversion Guide is to be used for
all the pebbles we sell.
• We have tested and measured how much
1m3 of each material weighs (The Bulk
Density) and this gives us the Conversion
Guide.
• To find out how many Tonnes of a
particular product you will need for your
project, and to use this guide just multiply
the Volume required (Cubic Metres) by the
Conversion Rate (Bulk Density).
• For example, if you needed 3m3 River
Pebble 10mm, which has a 1.5 Bulk
Density, you would multiply 3 x 1.5 which

= 4.5. So, 3m3 = 4.5t of River Pebbles.
• For most applications, decorative pebbles
need to be laid approx 50mm deep (2”
in the old language) which means 1m 3
covers 20m 2 (eg 10m x 2m) - so a little
tends to go a long way, making pebbles
a cost effective way of finishing off your
landscape.
• To help prevent weed growth and to stop
the dirt underneath showing through -
it’s important to use a WEED MAT cloth
under the pebbles, this will protect your
investment!

You’ll agree it’s good stuff.
How much will you need?
Allow for 1 Tonne of material per 100m2. This amount gives a thin layer of
approx. 10mm over the whole area. Be careful not to “bury” the grass as
this can damage your lawn by cutting out necessary sunlight. Make sure the
blades of grass are popping through. It’s also essential to water thoroughly
after top dressing to encourage the new growth and to prevent crusting.
...and make sure your turf or garden is fed the
way it should be:
Putting a quality top dressing on your lawn in Spring or Early
Summer will not only help to fertilise, but also level out those
lumps and bumps while assisting in keeping the roots from getting
compacted. Hydrocell is a unique soil improver with remarkable
water holding properties. It looks like polystyrene flakes, but mixed
into your soil or potting mix, Hydrocell holds up to 60% of its
volume in water.
