Ryan White Care Act Clinical Update, June 14 – 16, 2007 in Phoenix, AZ (Early

The Clinical Update, a Continuing Medical Education program that has been tailored to meet the needs of 

Ryan White Program grantees, will provide a comprehensive and timely overview of HIV treatment issues 

and current strategies in HIV medical care. It is open to physicians, physician assistants, nurse 

practitioners, and other direct clinical decision makers who are actively involved in HIV care in Ryan

Preventing HIV/AIDS among Men Who Have Sex with Men: Challenges and 

Innovations, CDC Satellite Broadcast, May 17, 2007, 10:00am – 12:00pm Pacific

The goals of this forum are to: raise awareness about the on-going crisis of HIV/AIDS among gay, 

bisexual, and other men who have sex with men (MSM); promote greater understanding of the current 

issues that affect HIV/AIDS risk among MSM; and encourage providers of HIV prevention services to 

implement effective interventions and strategies to reduce HIV transmission among MSM. This broadcast

Protease Inhibitor Lowers Viral Loads among HIV-Positive People with Drug 

Resistance, Study Finds 

A new study has shown the protease inhibitor darunavir, sold under the brand name Prezista, has been 

found to effectively decrease HIV viral loads after 48 weeks of use among people who have developed

California Senate Committee Approves Bill That Allows HIV-Positive Men to Have 

Sperm Washed, Used for Fertility Treatments 

The California Senate Health Committee has voted unanimously to approve a bill that would allow HIVpositive 

men to have their sperm washed and used for fertility treatments, including donor insemination 

and invitro fertilization, under certain guidelines. To learn more, go to:

Patient Assistance Programs Online 

This new website provides information on Patient Assistance Programs (PAPs), which are pharmaceutical 

company programs that offer free or low-cost medications to those who cannot afford them. This site 

presents information on enrolling in PAPs for various medications along with tools for pharmacists and
