The last axis (see axis D <strong>in</strong> Fig. 12) is connect<strong>in</strong>g the communities from west to east for the<br />

cooperation. S<strong>in</strong>ce the west part has already developed lots of <strong>in</strong>dustry sectors, the east part is<br />

experienc<strong>in</strong>g a rapid <strong>urban</strong>ization process. The new immigrants are both from Shanghai’s city center<br />

and from the other adjacent cities <strong>in</strong> the whole region. A well balanced structure between work and<br />

residence can be developed with strengthen<strong>in</strong>g accessibility between west and east sides.<br />
