• Query a remote application (typically a <strong>DICOM</strong> archive) for images and other<br />
objects.<br />
• View images fetched to a temporary location from a remote application.<br />
• Import images from a remote application to WISE.<br />
• IDS5 contains four different Application Entities (AE), <strong>DICOM</strong> Media, Print<br />
SCU, Storage SCP and Q/R-MWL SCU.<br />
• Each AE only has one instance.<br />
• <strong>DICOM</strong> Media functionality is described separately in chapter 6.<br />

WISE (UNIX) provides (among other things) the following features:<br />
• It replies on communication tests from remote applications.<br />
• It allows remote applications (typically modalities and workstations) to send<br />
images to it.<br />
• It allows remote applications to commit storage of sent images.<br />
• It allows remote applications to query the WISE database and retrieve images.<br />
