What is the <strong>Early</strong> <strong>Access</strong> <strong>Service</strong>?<br />
The <strong>Early</strong> <strong>Access</strong> <strong>Service</strong> (EAS) is a mental health service<br />
available across <strong>Dudley</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Walsall</strong>. The service offers prompt<br />
assessment in the community. All assessments are carried out<br />
jointly by a Psychiatrist <strong>and</strong> a mental health professional such as a<br />
nurse or social worker. The service aims to match needs of service<br />
users to the most appropriate treatment.<br />
Who is it for?<br />
The service is for people who have concerns about their mental<br />
health.<br />
Who can refer to the service?<br />
New referrals are accepted from health professionals <strong>and</strong> other<br />
professional agencies, such as GPs, Police <strong>and</strong> A & E.<br />
If you think you need to be referred to the service please contact<br />
your GP.<br />
Information for carers<br />
Carers are welcome to attend the assessment if this is agreed by<br />
the service user. The <strong>Early</strong> <strong>Access</strong> <strong>Service</strong> will provide carers with<br />
relevant information, including signposting for support services.<br />

The <strong>Early</strong> <strong>Access</strong> <strong>Service</strong> is based at:<br />

There is unfortunately no public parking at the site, only limited<br />
street parking. Travel West Midl<strong>and</strong>s bus no. 34 & 39 both go via<br />
Wednesbury Road.<br />
What can I expect?<br />
If you are referred urgently, you will be assessed on the same day.<br />
If your referral is not urgent, you will be contacted on the same day<br />
to arrange a convenient appointment <strong>and</strong> an assessment will take<br />
place within 15 working days.<br />
Who works in the <strong>Early</strong> <strong>Access</strong> <strong>Service</strong>?<br />
The team includes a number of different professionals working<br />
together, who have experience of helping people with mental<br />
health difficulties.<br />

Community <strong>Mental</strong> <strong>Health</strong> Staff<br />
Psychiatrists<br />
Social Workers<br />
What about confidentiality?<br />
At all times, healthcare records are treated with respect <strong>and</strong> the<br />
information they contain is protected in accordance with the Data<br />
Protection Act (1998). This Act is designed to protect your rights
