Curriculum<br />

Overview<br />

The leadership program is made up <strong>of</strong> six, six-credit courses for a <strong>to</strong>tal <strong>of</strong> 36 credits.<br />

Each course is approximately 11 weeks <strong>in</strong> length. The program is designed so you can<br />

complete <strong>the</strong> course work <strong>in</strong> as few as 18 months. The program ends with a one-week<br />

residency and graduation ceremony at Norwich University <strong>in</strong> June. The program<br />

<strong>of</strong>fers four start dates per year: March, June, September and December.<br />

The program exam<strong>in</strong>es <strong>the</strong> context <strong>of</strong> leaders <strong>of</strong> <strong>to</strong>day and<br />

<strong>the</strong> past, and leadership styles along with conceptual and<br />

<strong>the</strong>oretical aspects <strong>of</strong> leadership. Each course delivers<br />

<strong>in</strong>formation and <strong>in</strong>spiration <strong>to</strong> prompt real change and growth<br />

as you become highly <strong>in</strong>trospective about your own leadership<br />

style and potential. The critical elements <strong>of</strong> leadership are<br />

outl<strong>in</strong>ed <strong>in</strong> a simple formula for success — study what has<br />

worked for past and current leaders, apply what you have<br />

learned <strong>to</strong> your area <strong>of</strong> work, and <strong>in</strong>tegrate what works for you<br />

<strong>in</strong> your <strong>in</strong>dividual plan for leadership.<br />

Throughout <strong>the</strong> program, students create a <strong>Leadership</strong><br />

Development Portfolio <strong>in</strong> which <strong>the</strong>y document <strong>the</strong> lessons<br />

covered <strong>in</strong> each course and reflect on <strong>the</strong>ir personal<br />

leadership strengths, weaknesses, and goals. Faculty<br />

members regularly review students’ portfolios <strong>to</strong> provide<br />

<strong>in</strong>dividualized feedback on <strong>the</strong>ir progress and guidance on<br />

<strong>the</strong>ir career aspirations.<br />
