CurriculumOverviewThe military his<strong>to</strong>ry program is made up <strong>of</strong> six, six-credit courses for a <strong>to</strong>tal <strong>of</strong> 36credits. Each course is approximately 11 weeks <strong>in</strong> length. The program is designed so youcan complete <strong>the</strong> course work <strong>in</strong> as few as 18 months. The program ends with a one-weekresidency and graduation ceremony at Norwich University <strong>in</strong> June. The program <strong>of</strong>fersfour start dates per year: March, June, September and December.Your curriculum will <strong>in</strong>clude <strong>to</strong>pic-specific courses focused onhis<strong>to</strong>rical methods and his<strong>to</strong>riography. In your courses you aregenerally required <strong>to</strong> complete two short papers, typically 10pages long, and one long paper. In an effort <strong>to</strong> <strong>in</strong>troduce you <strong>to</strong>a variety <strong>of</strong> different types <strong>of</strong> his<strong>to</strong>ry, <strong>in</strong>struc<strong>to</strong>rs may have youwrite book reviews, his<strong>to</strong>riographic essays, book/article analysispapers, or annotated bibliographies.In each course, you will participate <strong>in</strong> 10 weeks <strong>of</strong>asynchronous discussions <strong>in</strong> small groups. You are required<strong>to</strong> write discussion post<strong>in</strong>gs <strong>in</strong> response <strong>to</strong> questions posed by<strong>the</strong> <strong>in</strong>struc<strong>to</strong>r about each week’s read<strong>in</strong>gs. You will also postresponses <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> comments <strong>of</strong> your group members, facilitat<strong>in</strong>gan <strong>in</strong>teractive and reward<strong>in</strong>g exchange <strong>of</strong> ideas.Students may choose <strong>to</strong> complete <strong>the</strong>ir master’s <strong>the</strong>sis (bypetition only) or a caps<strong>to</strong>ne paper.
