SanPharma Immuno-metabolic Remedies

Our first introductory lecture covered the basics of using the PEKANA 

Homeopathic-Spagyric remedies. In that lecture, we talked about how the 

PEKANA remedies can be used to improve the health of the extracellular matrix, 

and thus restore physiological regulation to the body. 

We also talked about the homotoxicology model, which is derived from 

Shang Han Lun. This model underscores the importance of revitalizing a 

weakened metabolism so that the deeply imbedded toxic burden can be released 

and energy restored. In doing so, we can help the patient move from the 

cellular phases of disease, which are the yin stages of Shang Han Lun. Doing so 

moves the toxins to a more superficial level, where they are inducing less 

metabolic dysregulation, and this also restores the body’s ability to properly react 

and excrete or neutralize toxins. 

Moving the patient from the deeper to the more superficial stages of 

illness can be done much more efficiently by adding immunometabolic medicines 

into the patient’s program. These medicines re-awaken and regulate immune 

system function, and restore improved regulation to many different aspects of 

the metabolism. Combining PEKANA remedies with SanPharma immunometabolic 

remedies is a more rapid way of restoring health. 

There are currently on the American market 3 different classes of German 

biological medicines which are referred to as immuno-metabolic remedies. They 

are all derived from microbial sources, and are processed in various ways, then 

put into a homeopathic dilution. The 3 classes of remedies are: 

1- those produced from microbial cell walls. 

2- those produced from the contents of the microbe, but excluding any 

cell wall fragments. 

3- those produced from specifically harvested metabolites of microbes. 

What any of these types of remedies have in common is that they can

exert profound regulatory control on the immune system as well as diverse other 

metabolic activities. However, the differences in manufacturing methods 

between these 3 types make their effects very different from each other. 

Remedies produced from cell wall fragments can be used to induce strong 

cytokine effects, which can be useful when the treatment objective is to awaken 

the immune system from an anergic state in order to eliminate stealth infection. 

The down side of this type of remedy is that it is fairly easy to over-provoke the 

cytokine cascade, which results in an undesirable upregulation of systemic 

inflammation. 

The SanPharma remedies do not contain cell wall fragments of any kind, 

and thus they are much milder and smoother in effect. They can be used much 

more aggressively for immune system and metabolic regulation, with much less 

potential for inducing an aggravation of symptoms. 

The PEKANA homeopathic-spagyric medicines can be used to effectively 

relieve the toxic burden from the matrix, but the more stubborn depositions of 

toxicity and focal infections will respond much more quickly and completely if the 

SanPharma remedies are used at the same time. 

WHAT IS A MODERN IMMUNOMETABOLIC REMEDY? 

A modern immunometabolic remedy is made from metabolic products 

derived from specific fungal and bacterial organisms. The metabolic products 

are serially diluted, and made into drops, capsules, suppositories, and ampules. 

Their designation of 3X, 6X, etc. indicates the number of serial dilutions. A lower 

number indicates a higher concentration of metabolites, and thus a stronger 

remedy. While this designation resembles those of homeopathic remedies, these 

are actually an entirely different class of medicine altogether. 

These medicines are referred to as immunometabolic remedies because 

they are powerful immunomodulators and metabolic biological response 

modifiers. They can be thought of as immunological and metabolic adaptogens. 

The different medicines have specific focuses of action. 

SanPharma makes remedies based on decades of traditional 

manufacturing processes. They have, however, modernized by improving their 

standards to comply with good manufacturing practices (GMP) standards. The 

result is a blend of tradition with the best of modern technology to ensure purity 

and safety of the products. 


GUIDELINES FOR TYPICAL USE AND DOSAGE FOR THE DIFFERENT 

FORMS OF SANPHARMA IMMUNOMETABOLIC REMEDIES 

The effects of the immunometabolic remedies depend on what form is 

used. This affects the area of the body targeted, and also makes a difference 

because of the varied potencies represented by the different forms. 

The potency of the immunometabolics should not be looked at in the 

same way as homeopathic potencies. With the SanPharma remedies, the 

potency denotes the number of serial dilutions used in preparing the remedy. 

The smaller the number, the less serial dilutions, and the stronger the effect. 

General rules can be summarized as follows: 

DROPS 

Drops of the fungal remedies are available in the 4X potency. They tend 

to be fairly gentle, so are used first in sensitive patients and infants to prepare 

them for the stronger forms of the medicine to follow. 

Drops at times can be used topically. This could be used to get a very 

gentle systemic effect, or to focus the action of the remedy at a particular 

location in the body. Common sites of topical application would be lymph nodes, 

involved organs, or foci including scar areas. 

Drops can also be taken orally for a mild systemic effect (a bit stronger 

than random selection of topical skin sites), or to focus the effects into the oral 

cavity or upper respiratory area. 

Drops put into the nose will affect sinuses and other areas of the upper 

respiratory system. 

Drops are not approved for use in the eyes. 


Drops can be placed in a nebulizer and inhaled, to direct their effects into 

the lower respiratory tract and nervous system. 

Typical dosage for drops is 1-20 drops one to four times per day. 

The Notatum/Quentans nasal spray is drops placed into a spray dispenser. 

CAPSULES 

Capsules are available in the fungal remedies in 4X, and in the bacterial 

remedies in 6X. 

Capsules will tend to have a strong effect on the gut and liver. Since this 

area is commonly the root of chronic illness, we use the capsules more than any 

other form of the medicines. Swallowing a capsule of one of the SanPharma 

remedies will exert effects on the gut mucosa, the GALT, and the liver by first 

pass effect. After clearing the liver, the absorbed remedy passes into the 

systemic circulation. Thus, capsules have a good systemic effect with a focus on 

gut and liver. 

Capsules can be opened up and the contents put into Zellulisan ointment 

to create a topical salve that has a strong local effect. The usual concentration is 

1 capsule put into 1 ounce of Zellulisan. We use a small cosmetic container, and 

mix with a sterile tongue depressor. 

The best way to take capsules is away from food, especially at bedtime. 

The fungal capsules are typically taken in single capsule doses 2 to 5 

times per week. In very sensitive patients, they may be taken as infrequently as 

1 capsule per week. For aggressive use, they may be taken as much as 2 

capsules twice per day. The three Penicillium remedies tend to be taken in more 

frequent doses than the other fungal remedies. 

Bacterial capsules are taken much less frequently that the fungal 

remedies. Typical dose is 1 to 3 capsules per week, but they may be taken as 

frequently as 1 capsule every other day or as infrequently as 1 per month. 


SUPPOSITORIES 

Suppositories are available for the fungal remedies in 3X, and for the 

bacterial remedies in 6X. At 3X, the fungal suppositories are the strongest form 

of the medicine available. 

Suppositories take advantage of the dual circulation to the rectum. A 

portion of the rectal mucosa is taken into portal circulation, and another portion 

of the rectal mucosa bypasses the portal circulation for a direct delivery to 

systemic blood. For this reason, suppositories tend to have a stronger systemic 

effect than intramuscular injections. 

Suppositories are the remedy form of choice when the medicine is 

targeted towards the pelvic floor. Although the medicine is taken up into both 

the portal and systemic blood, a local passive diffusion effect occurs. This 

delivers the remedy preferentially to the pelvic floor, bladder, uterus, prostate, 

etc. 

Suppositories are intended only for rectal insertion. Do not place them 

into any other orifice. It is unnecessary to chew suppositories to deliver the 

medicine to sinuses and dental tissues. Under some circumstances, the 

suppositories can be inserted vaginally. However, keep in mind that the vaginal 

mucosa is not specialized for absorption, but for resisting friction. Rectal 

insertion of a suppository may have a stronger effect on the vagina, cervix, and 

uterus than a vaginally placed suppository. 

Suppositories are usually inserted at bedtime, no more than 1 per night. 

If multiple remedies are to be used in suppository form, such as Notatum and 

Quentans, either alternate nights or use one remedy AM and the other PM. The 

benefit of bedtime use, is that the strong effects of the medicine will roll through 

the system while the patient is asleep. In addition, insertion at bedtime will have 

less tendency to trigger a bowel movement by reflex action. It is important to 

hold the suppository in the rectum at least 40 minutes to allow the medicine to 

absorb. A few hours is better. 

The recommended frequency for suppositories is about the same as for 

capsules. The exception is that since the suppositories tend to have a stronger 

effect than capsules, sometimes the dosage frequency is reduced a bit for 

suppositories as compared to capsules. Also, suppositories are seldom used 

more frequently than 1 time per day. 


One contraindication for suppositories is during certain types of 

chemotherapy. Many forms of chemotherapy induce friability in the intestinal 

mucosa. Suppositories or enemas during or after chemotherapy will tend to 

induce a potentially dangerous blood sepsis. This is possibly not true of antiangiogenic 

chemotherapy that is fractionated in dosage. Always err on the side 

of caution, and use other remedy forms. This remains true for up to 3 years, or 

until you have proven that the integrity of the GI mucosa has been fully restored. 

THE PENICILLIUM GROUP 

The first 3 remedies in the SanPharma fungal remedy line belong to the 

Penicillium group. 

These are the remedies: 

Notatum, containing metabolic products derived from Penicillium 

notatum, 

Quentans, derived from Penicillium frequentans, and 

Roqueforti, derived from Penicillium roqueforti. 

All 3 of these remedies share several things in common. They tend to 1) 

alleviate rather than provoke symptoms, 2) be used first in the management of a 

case, and 3) prepare the biological terrain to gracefully accept deeper changes 

that will be made later by use of other SanPharma products. 

Combining Penicillium remedies: 

In the beginning of a case, it is typical to use 2 remedies of the Penicillium 

group together. The combinations would be: 

Notatum and Quentans 

to downregulate systemic inflammation and clean up infections. 

Notatum and Roqueforti 

to reduce inflammation and infection in the gut. 

Quentans and Roqueforti 

to clean up infection and begin metabolic regulation of the gut. 


Dosing of Penicillium remedies: 

Capsules in the Penicillium group are typically taken one time per day, 3 

to 5 days per week. When using two different remedies, take one capsule of 

both remedies together away from food. We generally recommend SanPharma 

remedies to be taken at bedtime. 

The remedies in suppository form are taken by rectal insertion only, 

generally at bedtime. Notatum and Quentans suppositories are often used 5 

nights in a row, followed by 2 nights off. Or, they can be taken 10 nights in a 

row, followed by 4 nights off. Roqueforti suppositories are available only as the 

Candida/Roqueforti combination, which is discussed in the specific sections of 

these notes pertaining to those remedies. 

PENICILLIUM and PENICILLIN 

QUESTION: 

I’m allergic to penicillin, or afraid that I may be. Is it safe to take the 

SanPharma remedies that are made from Penicillium fungi, or will I have an 

allergic response to it? 

ANSWER: 

There is no chance of a penicillin allergy response from taking SanPharma 

products. 

Penicillium is a very large group of fungi, comprising at least 200 species 

and subspecies. Some of the Penicillium species produce penicillic acid, a 

substance that induces a severe allergic response in certain people. Not all 

species of Penicillium produce this substance. If you are subject to this kind of 

allergic reaction, you should never take an antibiotic drug made from Penicillin in 

either its natural or synthetic forms. 

However a Penicillin-type antibiotic drug is not the same thing as 

the Penicillium group of remedies from SanPharma. The antibiotic drug can 

produce an allergic response, but the SanPharma remedy cannot. 


The SanPharma fungal remedies are in a class of medicines called 

immunometabolic remedies. These are made from specific metabolic products 

derived from cultures of certain fungi and bacteria. Substances produced by 

those microbes are collected, then made into a homeopathic dilution. The 

resulting medicine is used to improve regulation of several aspects of immune 

function, reduce inflammation, decongest tissues and provide other benefits. 

The metabolic products collected from these microbes have too small of a 

molecular weight to function as antigens. Thus, they cannot induce a B 

lymphocyte response, and cannot participate in an allergic reaction. 

SanPharma makes three different medicines using fungi in the Penicillium 

group. These are Notatum (from Penicillium notatum), Quentans (from 

Penicillium frequentans) and Roqueforti (from Penicillium roqueforti). These 

remedies are available in the form of capsules, drops, suppositories and unitdose 

ampules. A Notatum-Quentans combination is intended for use as a nasal 

spray. All of these products are completely safe for people with a Penicillin 

allergy. No such reaction is possible in theory, and one has never been 

documented in practice. 

Even though there is no possibility of an allergic reaction to these 

products, that does not mean that certain “healing reaction” symptoms are 

possible. The SanPharma Penicillium remedy group all have the capacity to 

remove immunologic anergy, or unresponsiveness. This means that they 

enhance the immune system’s ability to detect and respond to a pathogen. If this 

process results in upregulating the immune response against a latent or chronic 

infection in the body, the patient can experience some transient flu-like 

symptoms. This is an indication of immune activation, and need not be a cause 

for concern unless the patient is experiencing exceptionally strong malaise. If this 

happens, just reduce or eliminate the doses of the remedy until the symptoms 

subside. 


NOTATUM 

Keynotes: 

The master remedy for inflammation. 

Improves antigenic recognition and helps resolve infections. 

Mildly nudges immune system out of anergy. 

Available as: 

Drops 4X, Capsules 4X, Suppositories 3X, and as Notatum/Quentans 

combination nasal spray. 

Discussion: 

Notatum is made of metabolic products derived from Penicillium notatum. 

Older literature lists Notatum as being for bacterial infections and 

Quentans as being for viral infections. Newer research and clinical observation 

suggests that this is not quite true. 

The primary indication for Notatum is systemic inflammation. It seems to 

be useful in inflammation associated with all chronic illness. It is true that 

Notatum assists the body in eliminating infection, and that infections will induce 

cytokine cascades that lead to upregulation of systemic inflammation. 

However, we have seen Notatum downregulate inflammatory states 

associated with hormone imbalances, insulin dysregulation, essential fatty acid 

deficiencies, and toxicities. Because of this, we believe that the antiinflammatory 

effects of Notatum are not due entirely to its ability to remove 

infections. In fact, recent research shows that Notatum inhibits COX-2, which 

would partially explain its anti-inflammatory effects. 

Another indication for Notatum is failure of the immune system to mount 

an adequate response due to anergy (non-reactivity) and failure to recognize an 

antigen. The immune system can be lulled into anergy under a number of 

circumstances. These include malnutrition, chronic exposure to a low-level 

pathogen or toxin, high levels of stress, and various metabolic abnormalities. For 

Notatum to be effective in waking up the immune system, factors such as 

starvation have to be eliminated first. Many patients in the US, especially the 


elderly, are chronically malnourished in terms of basic protein and calorie 

deficiency. Others are replete with caloric intake but malnourished in terms of 

micronutrients due to poor food choices rather than economic hardship. 

Notatum commonly is given first in the management of a new case along 

with drainage remedies to reduce inflammation, clean up the overall burden of 

unresolved infection, and open up elimination pathways. Following this, a more 

aggressive program can be used without inducing so many symptoms from the 

toxic download. 

This use of Notatum and other SanPharma remedies in the Penicillium 

group as a preparatory therapy before engaging in intense detoxification or 

metabolic regulation therapy is one of the keys to success in handling complex 

illnesses. When in doubt, do gentle drainage and regulation therapy with 

PEKANA spagyrics while using Notatum to gently clean up infection and 

inflammation at the onset of the management of any case. 

Notatum tends to relieve symptoms rather than provoking aggravations. 

The one exception is when Notatum upregulates an immune response by 

improving antigenic recognition and nudging the immune system out of anergy. 

If a latent infection was present, the response initiated by Notatum can lead to 

some mild inflammatory symptoms and malaise. However, this tends to be 

transient, and passes in a day or so. 

Typical dosing and frequency: 

In any serious chronic disease with systemic inflammation, consider 

starting with Notatum suppositories taken at bedtime nightly for 10 nights. This 

can be repeated after a rest period of 2 to 4 days. Or, do several rounds of 5 

nights on and 2 nights off using Notatum suppositories. 

If the capsules are to be used instead of the suppositories, use 1 capsule 

2 times per day instead of 1 suppository per night. 

In any acute infection, consider using 1-2 Notatum capsules once or twice 

per day. Or, prescribe one suppository at bedtime, or have the patient take one 

in the morning and one in the evening for the duration of the infection. 


Notatum drops can be applied topically over infected lymph nodes, or 

placed in mouth. 

The combination Notatum/Quentans nasal spray is excellent for any upper 

respiratory infection. This may also be sprayed into the mouth with sore 

throat/swollen glands. Typical dose is 1 or 2 puffs into each nostril plus into the 

throat. This is a great preventive remedy to take on airplanes, taking a dose 

every hour. 

During chemotherapy, we find Notatum to be very protective of the bone 

marrow, significantly reducing the tendency to inhibit white cell counts and to a 

certain extent, red cell counts. This is usually prescribed in the capsule form, 

taking one capsule each of Notatum and Quentans twice a day, at least 5 days 

per week, during periods that chemotherapy is being given. The protective 

effect is enhanced by using injectable thymus peptides. Many patients take 

Notatum daily during the course of chemotherapy and/or radiation. 

Patients with any degree of immunosuppression should be put on 

Notatum, unless the immunosuppression is deliberately medically induced such 

as in organ transplant recipients. 

Combines well with: 

Quentans. Notatum and Quentans are commonly given together. One 

capsule of each can be taken once or twice a day, or Notatum and Quentans 

suppositories can be alternated. 

The anti-infective action of the Notatum/Quentans combination is 

enhanced by the addition of a capsule of Subtilis, usually 1 to 3 times per week. 

For regulation of gut dysbiosis, the first step usually includes combining 

Notatum with Roqueforti (or Quentans with Roqueforti). Typical dosing is 1 

capsule of each once or twice per day, 5 days a week. 


The other major combination is Mucor with Notatum. This is used when 

tissue congestion and inflammation/infection are present simultaneously. Under 

these circumstances, taking one capsule of each remedy at the same time will 

resolve the problem. This combination will cause a huge download of microbial 

and inflammatory toxins, so drainage medicines must be in place to safely use 

the Notatum/Mucor combination. This effect does not occur unless the remedies 

are taken at the same time. This is discussed in more detail in the section on 

Mucor. 

Old thinking by certain people in the field of German biological medicine 

held that Notatum should never be combined with Mucor in that the two 

remedies would tend to antidote each other. This is not true and has never been 

true. 

All drainage and detoxification remedies from PEKANA work well with 

Notatum, with many common combinations. 

QUENTANS 

Keynotes: 

The master remedy for infection. 

Helps the body overcome infections. 

Reduces symptoms associated with active infections. 

Available as: 

Drops 4X, Capsules 4X, Suppositories 3X, and as Notatum/Quentans 

combination Nasal Spray 


Discussion: 

This remedy is made of metabolic products derived from Penicillium 

frequentans. 

Quentans is part of the beginning protocol for any patient for whom acute 

or chronic infection is a part of their presenting pattern. Since virtually all but 

the most healthy patients harbor latent infections, this means that Quentans is 

nearly always used in the beginning management of a new case. 

Quentans helps rid the body of infection by mechanisms still being 

researched. It also reduces the symptoms of infections. 

Classical doctrine in German biological medicine describes Quentans as 

being more for viral infections than bacterial infections. We believe that this is 

not accurate. Quentans should be considered for all infections, regardless of 

what microbe is involved. 


Quentans synergizes with Notatum so well that they are nearly always 

used together. The combination is generally more effective in infection than 

either remedy by itself. 

When the effect of Quentans is to be targeted to the gut, it is combined 

with Roqueforti. This begins cleaning up gut infection, and initiates the changes 

required to re-establish good metabolic and immunological regulation of the gut. 

In later stages of treatment, when deep regulation of the gut-associated 

lymphoid tissue, as well as other deep tissues such as lung, spleen and bone 

marrow are the intent of the treatment, Quentans is combined with Aspergillus 

and Mycobactin S. A typical dose is one capsule of each taken together 3 times 

per week. 

With an impending upper respiratory infection, use one capsule each of 

Notatum, Quentans, and Subtilis, taken all together to abort the infection. One 

dose may be all that is necessary, or the dose may need to be repeated up to 

twice a day for about 3 days. 


ROQUEFORTI 

Keynotes: 

The master remedy for regulation of the intestinal terrain. 

Intestinal dysbiosis. 

Intestinal inflammation. 

Available as: 

Drops 4X, Capsules 4X, Suppositories as Candida/Roqueforti 3X 

combination. 

Discussion: 

This remedy is made of metabolites derived from Penicillium roqueforti. 

Roqueforti is used whenever the therapeutic intent is to direct the 

regulating effects of any other SanPharma remedy towards the gut. 

It can be used in any kind of intestinal complaint, acute or chronic. In gut 

irritability it will tend to calm and soothe the gut. 

Roqueforti’s real potential is realized by artfully combining it with other 

remedies. 


To reduce gut irritation and inflammation, and to begin to make changes 

needed to unseat a gut dysbiosis, combine Roqueforti with Notatum. Typical 

dosage is to begin with one capsule of each taken together away from food 3 

time a day, then titrate the dosage frequency to 5 days per week. 

To modify the gut terrain so that deep changes can be made to reestablish 

gut ecology, combine Roqueforti with Quentans. Typical dosage is just 

like with the Roqueforti/Notatum combination. Begin with one capsule of each 


taken together away from food 3 times a day, then titrate the dosage frequency 

to 5 days per week. 

Either the Roqueforti/Notatum combination or the Roqueforti/Quentans 

combination are usually given in the first stage of treating a gut dysbiosis. 

In later stages of treating gut dysbiosis, when irritation and inflammation 

have been reduced, and some infection has been eliminated, the real work 

begins of re-educating the immune system at the level of the gastrointestinal 

membranes and the gut-associated lymphoid tissue (GALT) . For this stage, the 

real workhorse is the Candida/Roqueforti combination. This can be given as one 

capsule of each taken together, or as the combination suppositories. Which form 

is chosen somewhat depends on the patient’s tolerance. The suppository 

combination is much stronger than the capsules, but may cause a download of 

toxic debris too fast. If in doubt, use the capsules first, then move up to the 

suppository form if a stronger effect is needed. The toxins downloading as a 

result of using the Candida/Roqueforti should be buffered with the appropriate 

drainage and regulation medicines from PEKANA. 

The usual dosage of Candida/Roqueforti is to use the capsules of each 

remedy, beginning with 3 doses per week and working up to 5 doses per week. 

If the suppositories are used, give a dose of the combination every 5 days until 

tolerance is established, then shorten the time between doses until 3 doses a 

week are being used. 

Roqueforti drops can be used to have a very gentle regulating effect on 

the gut. To calm and soothe the gut, use 10 drops of Roqueforti held in mouth 3 

or 4 times per day, and also use doses of Apo-Stom and Viscum to further 

regulate and soothe. 


THE OTHER FUNGAL REMEDIES 

SanPharma makes 3 fungal remedies in addition to those in the Penicillium 

group. 

These are: 

Mucor, made of metabolites derived from Mucor racemosis, 

Aspergillus, derived from Aspergillus niger, and 

Candida, derived from Candida parapsilosis. 

What these all have in common is that they act as deeper metabolic 

regulators than the remedies in the Penicillium group. They are potentially more 

provoking, by virtue of the significant download of toxins that they can trigger. 

Thus, these medications are generally added to a protocol only after some 

preparation has been done using remedies from the Penicillium group, and by 

establishing good drainage and regulation using PEKANA spagyric medicines. 

Always prescribe drainage medicines when using them! 

Typical dosage for the non-Penicillium fungal remedies is: 

Capsules: 

Suppositories: 

Drops: 

1 to 5 doses per week. 

1 to 5 doses per week. 

10 drops 2 or 3 times per day. 

MUCOR 

Keynotes: 

The master remedy for cellular and vascular congestion. 

Available as: 

4X. 

Capsules 4X, Suppositories 3X, and as Kombination drops with Aspergillus 


Discussion: 

This remedy is made of metabolites derived from Mucor racemosus. 

Mucor fits into an entire spectrum of approaches to treat blood 

stagnation, vascular congestion, and, very importantly, hypercoagulability. If 

drainage and regulation remedies have been given with little success, meaning 

that attempts to download toxins from the matrix are not working well, Mucor 

may help solve the regulation blockade. 

It has been observed empirically for decades that Mucor is very often the 

key to resolving blockades that prevent downloading toxins from the extracellular 

matrix, allowing the immune system to effectively address latent and focal 

infections and restoring proper motility to the body fluids. 

Classical Enderleinian doctrine taught that Mucor works by disassembling 

the Mucor endobiont congesting the cellular structures and the matrix, thus 

allowing a download of toxins by reducing the viscosity of the matrix. 

We now know that the Enderleinian model of Mucor’s mode of action is 

not correct. Modern research is still in progress in an attempt to nail down an 

understanding of how exactly Mucor functions. Meanwhile, lots of questions 

remain, but experience is a good guide as to Mucor’s clinical applications. 

Mucor will have some effect in reducing platelet aggregation, but 

observations of platelet behavior by darkfield microscopy show this effect to be 

milder than that promoted by vitamin E and marine lipids. Thus, the reduction of 

platelet aggregation does not fully explain the incredible clinical effects seen with 

Mucor. 

Mucor also has a mild to moderate tendency to reduce red blood cell 

rouleau formation as seen on darkfield examination. However, this effect is 

milder than that seen by use of fibrinolytic enzymes such as Nattokinase and 

Lumbrokinase. Thus, the fibrinolytic mechanism cannot be the main mode of 

action of Mucor, because Mucor does some things that the fibrinolytics do not 

do, and Mucor also increases the patient’s tolerance for fibrinolytic enzyme 

products. 

This means that Mucor either works in some way to modulate the blood 

coagulation cascade, or it works by mechanisms not yet understood. Does 

Mucor work by altering the physiology of the matrix in such a way as to increase 

the activity of the heparans that are a component of the matrix? More research 


is needed to answer this and other questions. Meanwhile, Mucor can be used 

with great clinical effectiveness in vascular, tissue, and blood stasis disorders. 

Mucor breaks up and downloads cellular and tissue congestion. It will 

cause the load of toxins with stagnation of fluids and congestion of the 

connective tissue matrix to break up and be eliminated. 

This causes a release of all kinds of chronic, accumulated toxins including 

metabolic wastes that induce inflammation and infectious debris. For this 

reason, it is essential to back up any program containing Mucor with lots of 

drainage. 

In addition, it is useful to know just how heavy the burden of congestion 

is, so as to determine how aggressively to treat. If the burden of congestion 

with its stored toxic load is heavy, then start with very low doses, such as topical 

drops. If the burden of congestion and toxicity is light, then an aggressive 

program consisting of a series of suppositories will be well tolerated and achieve 

a significant unburdening of the matrix. 

Mucor is critical in treating any cardiovascular congestion. In coronary 

disease, the patient will have a huge burden of tissue congestion, and they will 

feel awful when it begins to download. However, due to the seriousness of the 

condition, there may not be time to go through gradual stages of increasing 

download intensity. The best you can do here is to support the patient with 

good drainage and auxillary treatments such as acupuncture, and let them ride 

out the process. 

Mucor is also useful for any congestive conditions of the eye. Remember 

to use Glautarakt orally for drainage. 

Mucor suppositories work well in pelvic floor stagnation illnesses. These 

include prostatitis, hemorrhoids, dysmenorrhea, and some cases of infertility. 

Women who intend to become pregnant should be worked with until able 

to safely take at least one round of 10 Mucor suppositories before getting 

pregnant. The use of one or more rounds of Mucor before pregnancy has been 

seen to prevent all kinds of problems that can arise, such as morning sickness, 

toxemia, and endocrine dysregulations. 

Because the Mucor suppositories are so strong, they are a good 

maintenance treatment to do once or twice a year after the patient is basically 


cleaned up and asymptomatic. The maintenance treatment is a round of 10 

suppositories, taken 1 per night. 

One contraindication for Mucor is close proximity to surgery due to a risk 

of increasing bleeding time. This contraindication is the same as that for high 

potency vitamin E or fish oil before surgery. Surgeons differ in their opinion of 

the advisability of the use of products that reduce platelet aggregation before 

surgery. Most want the patient to eliminate the use of Vitamin E, fish oils, and 

aspirin at least 10 days before surgery. The patient should be advised that 

Mucor fits into this category of medicines, in case the surgeon considers these 

things to be contraindicated. Other surgeons want the patient to be on platelet 

aggregation inhibitors before surgery, reasoning that thrombus formation is a 

greater risk than bleeding. If this is the surgeon’s opinion, then Mucor would be 

indicated rather than contraindicated prior to surgery. 

Because of its potential anticoagulant/anticongestive properties, Mucor is 

the primary remedy in the treatment of the dental cavitations in necrotizing 

osteitis. One theory states that necrotizing osteitis involves a genetic 

hypercoagulability defect. This defect is mild enough to not cause micro-emboli 

all over the body, but in proximity to the toxins produced by even minor dental 

infections, this can trigger the formation of micro-emboli in the facial bones that 

become the source of facial pain and dental cavitations. Here, remember to 

drain with Septonsil and Itires. 

Mucor suppositories help to heal hemmorhoidal plexus issues. Frequency 

may range from every night to once a week. Check the liver detox pathways 

whenever this condition occurs. 


Because Mucor will always induce a download of toxins being released 

from the matrix, it must be combined with the appropriate PEKANA drainage and 

regulation medicines. 

As a part of a complete treatment protocol for hypercoagulability 

disorders, Mucor will be used along with platelet aggregation inhibitors such as 

marine lipids and Tocotrienols, and along with fibrinolytic enzymes such as 

Nattokinase or Lumbrokinase. The use of fibrinolytics can remove barriers that 

have kept focal infections walled off in tissues and unavailable to immune system 


ecognition. Thus, be prepared to deal with the resulting immunological events 

by the use of the appropriate immune modulators, such as Notatum, Quentans, 

ImmPower, etc. 

Mucor has classically been combined with Aspergillus. This combination is 

so common that the remedies are available as combination drops. The theory 

behind the use of this combination was that Mucor and Aspergillus represent the 

two Enderleinian endobionts. We now know that this is not the case, but they 

are often useful together. The real reason is that Mucor covers the tissue and 

vascular congestion aspects of a case, and the Aspergillus acts as a general 

metabolic adaptogen. Combining the two has a good general effect in the 

resolution of many health conditions. In fact, we have found that the daily use 

of Kombination drops after brushing the teeth is a good oral hygiene habit, which 

can markedly improve periodontal health. For a stronger effect than the drops in 

a variety of health conditions, use capsules of each remedy taken together, or 

alternate the medicines in the suppository form. 

Mucor taken simultaneously with Notatum will clean up tissues that 

simultaneously have congestion with infection. This combination is extremely 

useful, but has been overlooked till recently because classical Enderleinian 

doctrine forbade it, which was an error. This combination has several 

applications: 

The condition of simmering infection in tissue congested and thus 

unavailable for immune system scrutiny can occur in any membrane, such as 

lungs, gut, or endothelium, as well as in the nervous system. The result is tissue 

that energetically resembles a dried up riverbed with glowing coals down in the 

cracks. It will tend to be irritable but unresponsive to drainage medicines. It 

needs to be moistened, soothed, and debrided at a microscopic level. This 

condition, at least the gut aspect of it, has some correlation to Qing dynasty gu 

worm theory, for those of you who treat this condition from a Chinese medicine 

perspective. 

Consider this combination in dietary allergies with irritable bowel, with 

magnesium wasting accompanied by a gut intolerance for oral magnesium, with 

reactive airway syndromes, and in coronary spasm. These conditions should be 

accompanied by the appropriate drainage and regulation medicines. For the gut 

syndromes use the Neu-Regen, Viscum, Psy-Stabil combination. For the lungs 

use Apo-Pulm. For the heart use Cangust. The Notatum and Mucor remedies 

are used together one capsule of each once or twice per day, taken no more 

than 2 or 3 times per week. 


In addition to the regulation and drainage medicines, this Notatum/Mucor 

combination almost always benefits dramatically by the addition of immune 

enhancing mushroom products. In an energetic sense, think of the mushrooms 

as the lubricating balm needed to moisten the dried up riverbed. We have found 

that either ImmPower or Ganoderma test more favorably than most other 

products. 

Finally, to fully remove the irritant in this syndrome, an occasional capsule 

of Firmus (such as one dose every week or two) will be needed. If enough 

doses of Mucor/Notatum are given in preparation, the Firmus will not be 

particularly provoking. 

ASPERGILLUS 

Keynotes: 

Master remedy of metabolic dysregulation and the tuberculin miasm. 

Available as: 

Capsules 4X, Suppositories 3X, and as Kombination drops with Mucor 4X 

Discussion: 

This remedy contains metabolic products derived from Aspergillus niger. 

Aspergillus gets to the root of metabolic dysregulation and makes deepacting 

corrections. It is sometimes referred to as the master remedy of the 

tubercular miasm. This is a rather ambitious statement, because the tuberculin 

miasm encompasses virtually all metabolic disease. Under the umbrella of the 


tubercular miasm can be placed not only tuberculosis, but all classical sexually 

transmitted diseases, malaria, cancer, and most forms of arthritis. 

Classical German biological medical doctrine considers Aspergillus and 

Mucor to be the two most important fungal remedies. Aspergillus is thought of 

for any metabolic disorder and Mucor for any congestive disorder. 

While Aspergillus will not solve complex metabolic dysregulation disorders 

as a monotherapy, it tends to always be a key part of the protocol in these 

disorders. Every metabolic disorder seems to require Aspergillus at some point 

during the therapy for the patient’s program to be effective. 

The main limitation on the power of Aspergillus to heal is not the remedy 

itself but the cleverness with which you can time giving the remedy as well as 

combining it with other medicines. Usually Aspergillus is given along with other 

SanPharma remedies. The deepest effects are from combining Aspergillus with 

Quentans and Mycobactin S capsules. This is the combination used for deep 

regulation of the physiology of the GALT, bone marrow and spleen. 


Mycobactin S and Quentans. This is by far the most important 

combination involving Aspergillus. This combination, usually used as one capsule 

of each remedy taken 3 times per week, is the key to deep regulation of the 

GALT, bone marrow, and spleen. Using this combination usually requires first 

preparing the patient with Penicillium remedies for at least one month. 

Mucor. The mildest form of this combination is Kombination drops, which 

is Mucor and Aspergillus drops combined. Use Kombination drops in all types of 

early URIs. 10 drops taken orally every 30-60 minutes at the onset of an URI 

with sore throat will often abort the infection entirely. If the infection is 

beginning with a runny or stuffy nose, use the drops up the nose. Kombination 

drops are also a favored prophylactic for periodontal disease. Putting about 10 

drops in the mouth after brushing the teeth before bedtime is a good routine 

habit. We have seen this reduce or eliminate periodontal pocket measurements 

on many patients when used for 3 months or more. 


Mucor and Aspergillus as capsules taken on alternate days will help 

combined metabolic/congestive disorders of the liver, and can also be an 

important step in the management of an intestinal dysbiosis. 

Alternating Mucor and Aspergillus suppositories will get into the deep 

stagnation issues of the pelvic floor. It can also be used to target deep 

regulatory blockades of the bone marrow. This effect has many ramifications for 

treatment of osteoporosis and bone marrow immune suppression. 

Notatum. Alternating either capsules or suppositories of Notatum and 

Aspergillus will greatly benefit the innate immunity. 

Candida. Combining or alternating capsules or suppositories of Candida 

and Aspergillus will greatly benefit adaptive immunity, especially issues involving 

the function of lymphocytes. This can help favorably shift the ratio of T H 1:T H 2 

subset activity. This combination is supported by the use of mushroom products 

like ImmPower or Ganoderma, as well as supplements containing Laktoferrin, 

such as Whey Cool or Paleomeal. 


CANDIDA 

Keynotes: 

All immune regulatory disorders. 

Mycoses, especially intestinal mycoses. 

Available as: 

Capsules 4X, Suppositories 3X, and combination suppositories with 

Roqueforti 3X. 

Discussion: 

This remedy is made from Candida parapsilosis. 

Candida, like Mucor and Aspergillus, is one of the most important 

remedies in the world. Candida also is probably the most misunderstood remedy 

in the SanPharma line. It is not a stand-alone remedy for fungal gut dysbiosis, 

and if used in this way it will not only not work, but potentially cause symptom 

aggravation without resolving much of anything. It should not even be thought 

of as killing gut mycotic infections, because this remedy doesn’t do that. While it 

has a central role in an integrated program for correcting gut dysbiosis, even 

that minimizes its potential as a healer. 

Candida may be our best hope for immunizing ourselves against the 

coming onslaught of increasingly virulent bacterial and viral plagues. We say this 

because after the load of Candida has been resolved, the immune system seems 

to function much better overall. 

To deliberately belabor a point: Candida is typically, and somewhat 

unfairly, thought of as being only for fungal infections, especially candidiasis of 

the gut. It is the key remedy for treating this condition. However, limiting the 

view of Candida to being a remedy for gut mycosis ignores the larger picture of 

Candida as one of the primary remedies for immune system clearance and 

activation. We feel that future research will reveal Candida as being one of the 

major regulators of adaptive immunity. 

The role of Candida in resolving gut dysbiosis and cleaning up the gutassociated 

lymphoid tissue (GALT) is itself significant enough to rank Candida as 

a primary remedy for treating all chronic illness. Virtually all chronic illnesses will 


have a component of intestinal dysbiosis with disturbance of liver detoxification. 

Restoring normal function to the digestion, true symbiosis to the intestinal flora 

and fauna, and appropriate balance to the liver detoxification pathways will 

stabilize, improve, or cure most chronic illness. In those cases that it cannot 

cure, it will improve the quality of life and will enable allopathic treatment to be 

given with greater effectiveness and fewer side effects. 


Candida is almost never given by itself. It is always given with drainage 

and regulation medicines, and almost always with other SanPharma remedies. 

A typical set of PEKANA remedies to take with Candida would be Mucan, 

Renelix and Itires, 1/2 teaspoon of each taken 2 times per day in water away 

from meals. This will drain the download products of Candida. 

In addition, use of a digestive tonic is common. We often prescribe 1/4 to 

1/2 teaspoon of Apo-Stom with 10-25 drops of Speci-Chol and/or Glucorect, all 

combined in warm or hot water with or before meals. 

Another consideration in using Candida is the relationship of fungi to 

heavy metals and viruses. Metal toxins including mercury will create a terrain 

that supports the overgrowth of fungi. In addition, the metals will be released as 

the fungus is downgraded. Viruses can keep the immune system too busy to 

deal with the fungal load, and fungi and their gut effects can keep the immune 

system too overstimulated with allergens to be able to rid the body of viruses. 

For these reasons, a fungal download process usually involves some 

treatment for viral and metal load, too. We sometimes say that a fungal load is 

a 3 headed dragon, with one of the heads looking like fungus, one looking like 

viruses, and one looking like metal toxins. This can be confusing if you do 

assessments by Vega BioExpert or other electrodermal testing, because a 

different dragon head will look predominant on different office visits. When you 

see this, it does not mean that the problem is changing from a fungal problem to 

a viral one to a metal one. It means that you’ve got a substantial Candida 

problem. 

Because of the multiple components of the problem, remedies like Toxex 

typically need to be added to the overall program. 


A typical Candida download is best done in stages: 

The first stage would be to clean up the terrain, improve the diet, and 

establish basic drainage and liver detox. It also helps to get some cardiovascular 

exercise going, since the download will eliminate a lot of debris through the 

lymphatics. 

The next stage involves preparing the gut for Candida along with some 

other SanPharma remedies. The usual choice would be alternating 1-2 capsules 

per day of Quentans and Roqueforti. 

An alternate preparatory program would be to give 1-2 capsules each, 

daily of Notatum and Roqueforti to clean up the general load of inflammation 

and infection in the gut. Less frequently, you may need to give alternating 

capsules of Mucor and Aspergillus, 1-3 capsules of each per week, in order to 

prepare the gut for the metabolic changes to come. 

Once the preparations are complete, start the patient on 

Candida/Roqueforti combination suppositories, typically 4 nights on then 3 nights 

off. Continue this until 5 rounds have been done. 

The download symptoms from Candida/Roqueforti suppositories can be 

very interesting. The first few doses can get all kinds of unusual symptoms 

rolling through the body. This is different from a die-off reaction. Joints can 

hurt, then feel fine within minutes. Membranes can feel like they are being 

scrubbed by sponges. The nervous system can discharge harmful frequencies in 

intense microwave bursts that can disturb sleep of the patient or anyone near 

them. This all tends to pass within a few doses. 

If a strong overgrowth of Candida albicans exists in the gut, it may be 

useful to give a short course of natural antifungals such as Tanalbit, caprylic 

acid, undecynoic acid, or the like. This may be needed because the Candida 

remedy does not directly kill the fungal overgrowth, and knocking down the 

extreme overgrowth with an antifungal can be helpful. 

During the course of using Candida/Roqueforti suppositories, it is very 

common for a need to arise for alpha-lipoic acid supplementation. We have 

learned to give lipoic acid routinely with this remedy. 

Once the 5 rounds of Candida/Roqueforti have been completed (or before 

this, if the process has had to be interrupted due to intolerance for the 


download), a follow-up with the Notatum/Mucor combination is usually needed. 

This will tend to be 1 capsule of each once or twice per day for 2-3 weeks. 

It will probably be necessary to alternate this Candida/Roqueforti program 

with the Notatum/Mucor program several times to completely resolve a case of 

systemic candidiasis. In addition, other aspects of the metabolism need to be 

handled. 

SUBTILIS 

Keynotes: 

Inflammatory conditions and infections. 

General gentle immune system adaptogen. 

Available as: 

Capsules 6X and Suppositories 6X. 

Discussion: 

This remedy is made from Bacillus subtilis. 

Subtilis is usually the first bacterial remedy to use in a case. It is the 

gentlest of the bacterial remedies, has a very general immune regulating effect, 

and tends to potentiate the effects of the Penicillium group of fungal remedies 

well. 

Part of the anti-inflammatory effects of Subtilis are due to its ability to 

induce a download of acids from the connective tissue matrix. 

Subtilis gives strong immune support in early infections, especially upper 

respiratory infections. 


This remedy can induce very vivid and colorful dreams. 

Typical dose: 

1-3 capsules or suppositories per week. Start with 1 capsule per week 

until tolerance is assessed. Even though both capsules and suppositories are 6X, 

the suppositories have a much stronger systemic effect. 


When used as a general immune system regulator, Subtilis is commonly 

combined with Notatum and Quentans. In programs where frequent doses of 

Notatum and Quentans are being used, such as 5 doses per week, the Subtilis 

would be added every other dose. For instance, if Notatum and Quentans are 

being taken Monday through Friday, the Subtilis would be added on Monday, 

Wednesday, and Friday. 

This combination works exceptionally well at the onset of an upper 

respiratory infection. If taken within the first hour or two of the onset of 

symptoms, a single dose of the Notatum, Quentans, Subtilis combination has 

often been seen to abort the URI entirely. 

Since Subtilis will download acidic debris from the matrix, it is best 

combined with spagyric drainage medicines. Commonly used with Subtilis are 

Renelix and Itires. If used early on in the case, when a large load of toxins has 

the connective tissue painfully inflamed, the choice of drainage medicines might 

be Mundipur. This download goes smoothly if the patient has a diet high in 

naturally occurring alkaline ash minerals and antioxidants (contains lots of 

vegetables), so this should be encouraged to achieve the best response. 


MYCOBACTIN S 

Keynotes: 

General immune system adaptogen, with focus towards lungs, MALT, and 

bone marrow. 

All tubercular and paratubercular conditions. This includes virtually all 

metabolic disorders. 

Antiviral. 

Available as: 

Capsules 6X 

Discussion: 

This remedy is made from metabolites derived from Mycobacterium phlei. 

It is typical to use this as the second bacterial remedy after Subtilis. After 

Subtilis has been used successfully and tolerated for about 4 weeks, begin 

adding a capsule of Mycobactin S weekly, and titrate the dose up to 3 capsules 

per week. 

In some cases, Mycobactin S is the first remedy used, instead of Subtilis. 

This is more common in chronic lung conditions to regulate the mucosalassociated 

lymphoid tissue (MALT), which includes the GALT, and for bone 

marrow regulation. 


This remedy has a very special relationship with Aspergillus. Combining 

these 2 remedies can go straight to the root of metabolic dysregulation at the 

deepest levels, such as in bone marrow. The combination also exerts a profound 

effect in chronic inflammations and infection tendencies of the lungs and bronchi. 

We believe that this combination is one of the necessary tools for reaching the 

roots of the cancer miasm. It will not cure cancer, but it makes significant 

beneficial modifications in the biological terrain of patients who have cancer or a 

history of cancer. Usually the Aspergillus/Mycobactin S combination is given with 

Quentans. One capsule of each are taken together 3 times per week. 


FIRMUS 

Keynotes: 

Chronic membranous and serous inflammations anywhere. 

Downloads acids and other stubborn toxins from matrix. 

Resolves foci of infection or toxicity. 

Available as: 

Capsules 6X and Suppositories 6X. 

Discussion: 

Firmus will download toxins and infections that create chronic 

inflammation in membranes. This would include the gut mucosa, the sinuses, 

the respiratory mucosa, and the synovial membranes of joints. Firmus can be 

the key to resolving chronic inflammations in any of these areas. It will also 

promote the opening up and draining of toxic foci and focal infections. For this 

reason Firmus is always taken with drainage and regulation remedies. 

Firmus is added to any program directed at resolving serious 

immunological or inflammatory issues. After the patient has been prepared with 

Penicillium remedies for 4 to 6 weeks, the bacterial remedies are added, usually 

starting with Subtilis or Mycobactin S. Once the patient has been titrated up to 3 

doses per week of Subtilis and/or Mycobactin S, the Firmus is added. Firmus is 

started at one dose every 2 to 4 weeks, and titrated up to 1 dose per week. 

Often, an occasional capsule of Firmus is added if Notatum is failing to 

resolve an infection or inflammatory disorder. By occasional, we mean one 

capsule every 1-4 weeks. 

Firmus also has a special place in finalizing the download involved with a 

process using the Mucor/Notatum combination. 

Capsules of Firmus are often alternated with capsules of Subtilis. 


GUIDELINES FOR THE SEQUENTIAL USE OF SANPHARMA REMEDIES 

There is a logical progression for the use of the SanPharma remedies. 

This involves a 5 phase process. 

Phase 1: The Penicillium Group 

In the beginning of case management, use the Penicillium group of 

remedies to improve immune system regulation and reduce systemic 

inflammation. These remedies are: 

Notatum 

Quentans 

Roqueforti 

Phase 2: The Other Fungal Remedies 

After some cleanup of the matrix has been accomplished and systemic 

inflammation reduced, add the other fungal remedies to regulate metabolic 

functions. These remedies are: 

Mucor 

Aspergillus 

Candida 

Phase 3: The Gentle Bacterial Remedies 

To intensify the action of the other remedies, and to more strongly 

modulate immune functions, add the gentle bacterial remedies. These are: 

Subtilis 

Mycobactin S 


Phase 4: The Stronger Bacterial Remedy 

Eventually, the more provoking bacterial remedy may be needed to clean 

up focal infections and metabolic blockades. This is: 

Firmus 

Phase 5: Maintenance 

After the patient is cleared of encumbrance of the matrix, has a well 

regulated metabolism, and is clear of latent infections, continue to use occasional 

doses of the appropriate SanPharma remedies to maintain regulation 

commensurate with constitutionally weak areas and genetically hard-wired 

metabolic issues.
