autumnal colour magnificent. This experiential tour of South

and mysterious in all Korea and immerse yourself in ancient Buddhist

SEOUL
You arrive in Seoul this morning and
are transferred to your hotel for
breakfast and a freshen up before
heading out into the city. You see the
changing of the guards at
Gyeongbokgung Palace, which
translates as ‘Palace of shining
Happiness’ and is the largest of the
five grand palaces built by the Joseon
Dynasty. You visit the National
Folklore Museum of Korea and the
Blue Palace. In Samchong-dong you
visit Bukchon Hanok village where
the antique beauty of Korean
traditional houses can be admired. It
is here that the aristocratic classes
resided during the Joseon Dynasty.

Day 3 Tuesday 2 October
SEOUL
Today’s sightseeing begins with
Deoksunggung Palace followed by
fascinating Gwangjang Market,
Seoul’s oldest covered marketplace.
Jostle through Gyeongdong Market,
one of the largest herbal and ginseng
markets in South Korea and famous
Insadong otherwise known as antique
alley’. Visit Myeong-dong Cathedral,
the largest Catholic church in Korea
with a lovely Gothic interior. Later
walk the beautiful Cheonggyecheon
Stream, an oasis of natural beauty
featuring charming bridges, fine
marble and sculptures all in the heart
of Seoul. A welcome dinner this
evening features a spread of
delicious Korean dishes traditionally
enjoyed by royals and aristocrats at
the pristine palace of Samcheongak.

Day 4 Wednesday 3 October
SUWON-GONGJU-BUYEO-
SONGNISAN
After breakfast this morning you drive
to Hwaseong Fortress and visit the
Suwon UNESCO site, the ancient
capital of the Baekje Kingdom from
475-539 at Gongju and Buyeo.
Buyeo is a lovely place to absorb
‘everyday’ South Korea. At day’s end
in Songnisan you are able to observe
the monks’ rituals at Beopjusa
Temple one of the most magnificent
temple sites in all Korea.

Day 5 Thursday 4 October
SONGNISAN-GWANGJU
Today you head south, stopping en
route for a delicious traditional lunch
of Jeonju Bimbimbap. This is the
signature dish of
Korea and is a
combination of
steamed rice,
sautéed
vegetables,
pepper paste and
meats or egg. It is acclaimed as one
of the world’s most delicious foods.
After lunch you continue to the
Gochang Dolmen site and Damyang
before arriving in Gwangju to
overnight.

Day 6 Friday 5 October
GWANGJU - SEONAMSA TEMPLE
This morning you drive via the scenic
tea plantation country of Boseong to
Seonamsa Temple, praised as the
most beautiful and mysterious
temple in all Korea. It is such a lovely
example of the beauty of antiquity.
Here you can experience Korean
Buddhist culture firsthand. Enjoy the
lush natural environment, participate
in Zen meditation and Buddhist rites
and achieve a real peace of mind,
relaxation and sense of freedom and
joy. Recharge and engage in this
ancient culture, go on a temple walk
or mountain trek, or try lotus paper
lantern making. Partake in
barugongyang- Buddhist meals in
traditional wooden bowls, and tea
ceremonies, which are not just about
sipping tea but are part of an ancient
program of discipline and tradition.

SEONAMSA - JIRISAN
You awake to the serenity of
Seonamsa and may choose to
participate in pre-dawn Buddhist
rites or spend the morning engaging
in temple activities and enjoying the
natural beauty of the mountains. In
the afternoon you travel on to Jirisan
stopping at the Naganeupseong Folk
Village and Hwaeumsa Temple.
Arriving at your mountain resort
hotel you can experience a
traditional Korean sauna and bath in
a Jimjilbang hot spring, a perfect
way to relax and indulge.

JIRISAN - CHEONGHAKDONG
VILLAGE
After a short walk
into Jirisan
National Park you
visit
Cheonghakdong
village, a Shamanist traditional
community. In this remote village,
only connected to electricity twenty
years ago, the locals maintain the
custom of wearing hair knots and
traditional clothing as they work and
farm in the age old manner of living.
Next to Cheonghakdong is the holy
worship ground of Hawanin. To
enter this sanctuary you must strike
the gong three times and wait for an
ascetic to guide you.

Day 9 Monday 8 October
JIRISAN - BUSAN
This morning you visit Jinjuseong
Fortress, then
travel to pretty
Goeje Island
known as
‘paradise of
Nanhae’
where you
stroll through Sanbangsan Biwon
Garden. The gardens are a showcase
of beautiful local wildflowers, unique
flora and gorgeous autumnal colour.
Choose a cafe for lunch before
travelling to the city of Busan on the
south eastern tip of the Korean
peninsula this afternoon. Busan is the
second largest city in Korea and is
often called the summer capital of
Korea as it has many fine beaches
and a pleasant climate. You visit the
Koraen Buddhist Temple of Beomeosa
before checking in to your hotel for the
next two nights.

BUSAN
Your Busan day tour includes Jalgachi
Fish Market, the largest in Korea and
the very traditional Gukje Market. You
visit Yonggungsa Temple, perched
