Home Health O ur newly expanded Home Health Department includes 70 licensed nurses and home health professionals. While they are all highly skilled clinicians, they also have a special talent for providing care within the patient’s home. On call after hours and on weekends, they travel to the patient’s home, provide care and consult with physicians to make sure that patients receive the highest quality care without a hospital or clinic setting. As patient Judy Lee Rawles, Ph.D., recently put it: “The nurse and physical therapist who worked with me were vnhc’s Home Health program saw continued growth in 2011, serving a TOTAL of 2,006 patients for a 4% increase over the previous year. There was also a 28% increase in visits made, totaling 29,341. Our Valley staff served an additional 364 patients in 2011. compassionate, caring and skilled, and most importantly, they listened, really truly listened. Feeling heard by our healthcare professionals is essential to successful healing. The ability to join patient and healthcare provider, together, into a collaborative partnership dedicated to returning the person to mobility and health, is part of what makes this long-time Santa Barbara non-profit so unique, and their services so effective and so very valuable. I cannot overstate my abiding gratitude for this vital organization’s many daily contributions to Santa Barbara’s residents, and especially for the huge difference their interventions have made in my own life. Visiting Nurse and Hospice Care is a community treasure that I am delighted to support.”
VNHC loaned over $100,000 worth of durable medical equipment and supplies, at no Charge, to nearly 2,000 patients and families in 2011. ACCIDENTS HAPPEN from crutches and canes to wheelchairs and even bathroom safety items, vnhc’s loan closet program has you covered, offering the temporary loan of basic medical equipment at no cost. WITH comfort VNHC offers comprehensive skilled nursing and rehabilitation services to community residents throughout Santa Barbara including Santa Ynez and Lompoc Valleys.
