FUNCTIONAL INTEGRATED SHOULDER TRAINING
with Adam Wolf
Understanding the interaction of the lower extremity to the upper extremity is key
to developing a true functional shoulder training program. Too often the shoulder
joint is isolated from the rest of the body and it is not allowed to work in a natural
environment. Analyzing functional integrated movement patterns of the legs
and core enhances shoulder function, yet all the while must include actions
requiring force reduction, stabilization, and force production movement patterns.
This session will integrate proper lower extremity advantages to shoulder function.
“What are we doing?” “Why are we doing it this way?” and “How will this help
enhance our daily living performances?”. The body is a dynamic, integrated
structure, not a series of parts that function independently of one another. You
MUSIC IS THE BOSS
with Christi Taylor
An instructor’s ability to work well with music can make or break a group exercise
class. Before you can work with music, you must understand it. Lesson
number one: because your music is a fixed foundation, “The Music is the Boss!”
From there, an instructor’s freedom to move within the music is endless. Let
Christi teach you how to be “one” with your music; to comprehend the dynamics
of measures, phrases, and frames, and to select music properly based on energy
build, BPMs, and style. Special attention will also be given to learning the theory
behind cross phrasing, up beat movements and down beat movements.
F.I.T. ATHLETIC CONDITIONING:
FUNCTIONAL INTEGRATED TRAINING
with Keli Roberts
Functional Integrated Training and Athletic Conditioning combines explosive
movement with strength, agility, balance and quickness drills. This program
develops integrated strength, core power and stabilization with flexibility using a
medicine ball, dumbbells and a foam roller. The workout starts with an athletic
warm up that concentrates on active and dynamic stretching to heat the body up
and prepare the muscles and joints. Next you’ll workout on quickness with a
series of drills that will stimulate the nervous system and improve foot speed.
The conditioning phase utilizes a tri-set approach: medicine ball drill, a dumbbell
exercise and a power or plyometric drill. You’ll finish your workout using the foam
roller for abdominal stabilization exercises followed by myofacial release techniques
designed to enhance flexibility and relaxation.
