The <strong>Texas</strong> <strong>Municipal</strong> Human Resources Association (TM<strong>HR</strong>A) is an affiliate<br />

If you answered “yes” to one <strong>of</strong> those questions, <strong>the</strong> <strong>Nuts</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Bolts</strong> Sem<strong>in</strong>ar is just for you! You’ll receive plenty<br />

<strong>of</strong> practical <strong>in</strong>formation that will help you implement <strong>and</strong> ma<strong>in</strong>ta<strong>in</strong> successful human resources programs <strong>in</strong> your<br />

organization. Specialists <strong>in</strong> several areas <strong>of</strong> human resources management will present dynamic, <strong>in</strong>teractive<br />

sessions where you can ask questions, have discussions with your peers, <strong>and</strong> learn toge<strong>the</strong>r.<br />

Health Care Reform: Are You Ready?<br />

This session will provide a summary overview <strong>of</strong> health care reform, requirements for 2014 <strong>and</strong><br />

beyond, <strong>and</strong> a checklist <strong>of</strong> items to ensure your organization is compliant mov<strong>in</strong>g forward to meet<br />

deadl<strong>in</strong>es, notices, <strong>and</strong> fee requirements.<br />

Oh! The Tangled Web We Weave: Manag<strong>in</strong>g Employee Leave (ADA, FMLA)<br />

Manag<strong>in</strong>g employee leave can be complicated <strong>and</strong> cumbersome when <strong>the</strong> leave falls <strong>in</strong>to several<br />

legal categories that overlap one ano<strong>the</strong>r. Speakers will guide you through successful management<br />

<strong>of</strong> those claims to ensure you are compliant with all <strong>the</strong> laws that could be impacted.<br />

Compensation: Management <strong>and</strong> Ma<strong>in</strong>tenance <strong>of</strong> Pay Systems <strong>in</strong> Challeng<strong>in</strong>g Times<br />

This session will discuss tips <strong>and</strong> best practices for align<strong>in</strong>g your compensation strategy with your<br />

bus<strong>in</strong>ess needs dur<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong>se challeng<strong>in</strong>g times as we recover from <strong>the</strong> recession.<br />

Employee Investigations: Best Practices<br />

Investigations can be a nightmare, but this unique session will explore <strong>the</strong> <strong>in</strong>tricacies <strong>of</strong> conduct<strong>in</strong>g<br />

<strong>the</strong>m. Processes <strong>and</strong> techniques to help conduct a fair <strong>and</strong> credible <strong>in</strong>vestigation will be expla<strong>in</strong>ed.<br />

To Pay or Not To Pay…That Is <strong>the</strong> Question: FLSA <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Public</strong> <strong>Sector</strong><br />

This session will walk you through <strong>the</strong> basics <strong>of</strong> FLSA <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> public sector—ensur<strong>in</strong>g your policies,<br />

practices, <strong>and</strong> post<strong>in</strong>gs are compliant—as well as problematic areas most <strong>of</strong>ten faced by entities.
