2011 Victorian Graduands Celebrate

lies behind us and what
lies before us are tiny matters
“What
compared to what lies within
us,” said Ralph Waldo Emerson, and what lies
within the extraordinary cohort that came
to receive their Statements of Accreditation
on Saturday 12th February is the potential
and opportunity to make great change to the
medical radiations profession.
It was wonderful to see the combined
cohort of RMIT and Monash University
Diagnostic Imaging, Therapy and Nuclear
Medicine graduands partaking in this
celebration at The Centre, Ivanhoe,
Melbourne.
Once again, the annual 2011 AIR/
VSNMT Professional Graduation Dinner
in combination with the 28th Stanley L
Martin Memorial was delivered with style
and grace.
The orator for the evening, Mr David
Collier (Chief Executive AIR), delivered
an inspirational speech on his personal
experiences with dealing with all facets of
our profession. He acknowledged the hard
work required to complete these degrees and
congratulated the graduands on their entry
into a fabulous profession.
Also to be congratulated on this evening,
were our professional colleagues who had
committed time and effort into completing
higher qualifications in their quest for
continual professional development.

Congratulations are extended to Phil Jones
for his attainment of his Masters in Public
Health.
Among the 124 guests that attended, it
was heartening once again to see that many
parents and friends attended this important
occasion; a testament of unconditional
support and encouragement. To all the
graduands, please take the time to appreciate
these wonderful people who have given
selflessly to ensure that you have a stellar
career.
It was a notable highlight to see an
increase in our tutors coming to support these
graduands, and I would like to acknowledge
the persistence and effort sometimes required
to get the graduands to this point of their
career.
These are fine graduands who have had
much time and effort invested in them and
it was a great delight to be there to celebrate
their achievements with them. Thank you
also to the various individuals from the
medical imaging, radiation therapy and
nuclear medicine communities who made an
effort to attend.
The Valedictorians for the evening
Roshini Thomas, Sarah Coleiro and Victoria
Williams did their professions justice by
producing such a high standard in their
speeches. Congratulations on some fine
presentations.
New graduates, professionals, friends and
family enjoyed a marvellous dinner with the
evening being rounded off with some creative
karaoke and impressive dancing by young and
old alike. It was another memorable event with
many proud and smiling faces all around.
Finally this evening would not have
occurred without the significant support
of the many sponsors including Elekta/
Impac, WBRC, and Agfa. The sponsor’s
contributions towards the event were highly
valued and we would also like to especially
thank Suzie Smith from Agfa for some superb
photography.
The AIR and the VSNMT would like to
congratulate the graduands and welcome
them into their respective careers.
