Professional Portraiture, Other in the PX3 International<br />
Photography Awards in Paris, France.<br />
Faustinus Deraet [Austin] had 2 images selected for<br />
the Arte Sagrado XII exhibition held at Concordia University<br />
in Austin.<br />
Jane Paradise’s [San Francisco] work Smoking, Wellington<br />
NZ was selected as part of the Schoolhouse Gallery<br />
in Provincetown 2008 Spring Arts Competition.<br />
Tami Bone's [Austin] image, Birdman, was selected for<br />

an Honorable Mention in Prix de la Photographie Paris<br />
PX3-2008, The Human Condition in Paris, France.<br />
Dave Hammaker [East Freedom, PA] was awarded<br />
First Place in the photography category at the Blair<br />
County Arts Festival Juried Fine Art Exhibit at Penn<br />
State Altoona in PA. The photograph was also selected<br />
for a Third Place in the photography category in the<br />
Art League of Hilton Head 2008 National Juried Show.<br />
Susan S. Bank’s [Philadelphia, PA] book: Cuba:<br />
Campo Adentro is a monograph of black and white<br />
photographs of daily life in the Cuban countryside.<br />
Published June 2008, in an edition of 750 copies by<br />
Sagamore Press, Philadelphia PA, ISBN 978-0-615-<br />
20595-3, this museum quality 10.50 x 10.25 bi-lingual<br />
cloth cover monograph consists of 84 pages, 48 black<br />
and white images printed in quad-tone, a preface written<br />
by Bank and an essay by esteemed Cuban art critic,<br />
Juan Antonio Molina, of Mexico City.<br />
Laura Pickett Calfee [Dirftwood] has been awarded<br />
a residency at Yaddo, the oldest artists' community<br />
in the country. (http://www.yaddo.org) Earlier this<br />
year, the Kohler Arts Center in Kohler, WI exhibited a<br />
solo show of her work entitled Whispering Walls. During<br />
Fotofest, her still lifes were featured at Rudolph<br />
Projects/Artscan in Houston.<br />
Steve Rood [Valley Village, CA] had 5 images from his<br />
Animalia series honored with an Award Of Excellence<br />
and selected to be in this year's Communication Arts<br />
Photography Annual.<br />
Susan Huber [Canada] won two Honourable Mentions<br />
in the 2008 Px3 Prix de la Photographie in Paris,<br />
in the Fine Art Architecture category for her Here We<br />
Pray series of photographs of rural Western Canadian<br />
churches and in the Fine Art Landscape category for<br />
her most recent series of foot journeys throughout Salt<br />
Spring Island titled My Land, My Home.<br />
Arthur Meyerson [Houston] won in the Photography<br />
category at the inaugural Stars of Design, 2008.<br />
Hannah Neal [Austin] had two images selected for<br />
the New Orleans Photo Alliance juried exhibition,<br />
Identity.<br />
Liza Weems-Sawyer [Boulder, CO] had several images<br />
chosen for the book, Uncontained: Writers and Photographers<br />
in the Garden and the Margins, edited by<br />
Jennifer Heath, Baksun Books, Boulder, CO, 2007.<br />
Gary W. Vann [Fresno, CA] received an Excellence<br />
Award from B&W Magazine for work submitted to<br />
their Portfolio Contest 2008, which will be featured in<br />
their Special Issue edition in June. Also, Gary's current<br />
California Waterscapes will be exhibited at the River<br />
Center Gallery, in Fresno.<br />
Tom Chambers [Richmond, VA] had his work featured<br />
in the Galeria Clave in Murcia, Spain at the Art<br />
Madrid Festival. The gallery represents him exclusively<br />
in Europe. During March and April, his work was<br />
included in a six-person show at FotoFest in Houston<br />
entitled, Mind Over Matter: Enigmatic Variations. Gary<br />
was included in a two-person exhibition at the Chase<br />
Gallery, in Boston.<br />
Jeff Curto [Geneva, IL] was part of The Artist Project<br />
independent exhibition and sale.<br />
Dennis DeHart’s [Prescott, AZ] show Travellers was on<br />
display in Buffalo, NY.<br />
Hiroshi Watanabe’s [West Hollywood, CA] won first<br />
place with Ideology in Paradise at the Project Competition<br />
& Singular Image Awards.<br />
