Security Center 5.1 SR2 Release Notes 

Security Center is the unified security platform that seamlessly blends Genetec's IP security 

and safety systems within a single innovative solution. The systems unified under Security 

Center include Genetec's Omnicast IP video surveillance system, Synergis IP access control 

system, and AutoVu IP license plate recognition (LPR) system. 

Security Center 5.1 SR2 is a service release that improves the reliability and performance of 

Security Center. This document describes the release in detail, and provides late-breaking 

or other information that supplements the Genetec Security Center documentation.

Security Desk enhancements 

• Digital zoom presets. When applying digital zoom to a camera image in a Security 

Desk tile, you can create presets for digital zoom positions. This feature is very useful 

when using a megapixel camera. 

Synergis access control enhancements 

• Export cardholder and visitor pictures. In the Cardholder management and Visitor 

managements tasks, you can export cardholder and visitor pictures to your computer in 

JPEG, PNG, or bitmap format. 

• HID VertX and Edge firmware compatibility. Security Center is now compatible with 

HID unit firmware version 2.2.7.149. 

Omnicast video surveillance enhancements 

• Camera tile option. There is a new video option in Security Desk called Camera tile, 

that allows you to change how cameras are shown in tiles. You can choose to display the 

full camera image, or to fill the tile with the image (crop the image). This feature is very 

useful when using a megapixel camera. 

• Audio mode option. There is a new video option in Security Desk called Audio mode, 

that allows you to select full-duplex or half-duplex audio mode. Full-duplex allows you 

to talk and listen at the same time. Half-duplex requires you to switch between talking 

and listening. Half-duplex mode is necessary when two units are connected, or when 

audio must be controlled through digital inputs. 

• IPv6 support. Security Center now supports the Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) for 

video streaming. This protocol uses 128-bit addresses, while IPv4 uses 32-bit addresses. 

Therefore, IPv6 allows for more devices and users on the Internet, and enhances data 

transmission between IP networks. 

• H.264 CABAC streaming. Software motion detection is now supported using H.264 

CABAC streaming.

• H.264 motion detection enhancements. H.264 video streaming has been enhanced 

(for example, H.264 streams now support main and high video profiles, interlaced 

video, lossless video, and 8x8/4x4 block-size transform coding). To take advantage of 

these enhancements, you need to reconfigure the advanced motion detection settings 

for H.264 units already on your system if you are upgrading to Security Center 5.1 SR2. 

For more information about how to configure the advanced motion detection settings, 

see “Advanced H.264 Motion Detection” in the Security Center Administrator Guide. 

• Audio out anti-jitter buffer. An audio out anti-jitter buffer is implemented for Axis, 

Sony, and Verint extensions in Security Center. With this feature, the Archiver buffers 

the audio packet before sending it to the unit's audio decoder, eliminating any jittering 

that may occur. For more information on enabling this feature, see the Security Center 

Video Unit Configuration Guide. 

Arecont enhancements 

• New exposure settings. There are new exposure settings available for Arecont cameras 

in the Config Tool: Sharpness, exposure reference, illumination mode, blue, red, day/ 

night settings, and low light modes. 

• Flicker control. The flicker control option is now supported for Arecont units, which 

prevents intermittent flashes of light caused by fluctuations in voltage. 

• Image rotation. Arecont camera orientation can now be changed in Config Tool.

ATEME enhancements 

• ATEME VSS-441-R4TE support. ATEME VSS-441-R4TE units are supported in 

Security Center. Additional configuration is required on the unit’s Web page before 

adding the unit in Security Center. For more information, see the Security Center Video 

Unit Configuration Guide. 

Axis enhancements 

• Profile selection. Axis H.264 cameras now support main and baseline profile selection. 

For more information, see the Security Center Video Unit Configuration Guide. 

• Edge storage 2.0 support. The edge storage 2.0 feature is now supported on Axis units 

with firmware 5.40.4 and later. 

• Video quality and resolution enhancements. In Video tab of Config Tool, the default 

Resolution for Axis H.264 cameras was changed to 2560x1920, and the default video 

Quality was changed to 70%. 




Basler enhancements 

• Basler BIP2 unit integration improvements. Basler BIP2 units have been integrated 

to the Basler Driver under the Generic Plus extension. As a result of these enhancements, 

you can now specify the stream usage, adjust the frame rate, and configure the 

input/output pins for Basler BIP2 units in Security Center. Hardware motion detection 

is also supported. 

Additional configuration is required on the unit’s Web page before adding the unit in 

Security Center. For more information, see the Security Center Video Unit Configuration 

Guide. 

Bosch enhancements 

• Bosch MPEG-2 video unit support. MPEG-2 streaming is now supported on Bosch 

IP cameras and video encoders. 

• Firmware enhancements. Bosch firmware 5.0 and 5.5 are now supported in Security 

Center. 

• AAC audio support. The AAC audio format is now supported on Bosch units with 

firmware 5.0 and later. 

• VRM version 2.2. Bosch VRM version 2.2 is now supported in Security Center. 

• Bit rate values increased. In the Video tab of Config Tool, the highest Bit rate slider 

value for Bosch cameras was changed to 10, 000 kbps, and the highest Maximum bit 

rate slider value was changed to 20, 000 kbps. 

• IVA people counter support. Security Center now supports the Bosch IVA (Intelligent 

Video Analytics) people counter feature. This feature allows you to configure your unit 

to send events to Security Desk when the people count changes for a specific zone. The 

events are then stored and can be queried. To use this feature, your Bosch unit must 

have the following: 

• IVA compatibility 

• IVA valid license 

• Firmware 5.50 or later 

For more information about configuring this feature, see the documentation for your 

Bosch IVA unit. 

Canon enhancements 

• Canon VB-C60 and VB-C500D support. Canon VB-C60 and VB-C500D units are 

now supported in Security Center. Additional configuration is required to use these 

units in Security Center, and to control the PTZ of VB-C60 units. For more information, 

see the Security Center Video Unit Configuration Guide. 




Genetec Protocol enhancements 

• AAC (Advanced Audio Coding) format support. The Genetec Protocol now supports 

the AAC format. 

Interlogix enhancements 

• VisioWave driver support. The Interlogix VisioWave driver, which can control multiple 

Interlogix VisioWave encoders, is now supported in Security Center. VisioWave 

encoders support PTZ controls and the Wavelet video format in Security Center. This 

integration also enables support for multiple PTZ motors in the Generic Plus extension. 

For more information about configuring Interlogix units controlled by the Visio- 

Wave driver, see the Security Center Video Unit Configuration Guide. 

• Interlogix unit support. Interlogix MPEG-4 units and DVMRe/Storesafe units are 

now supported in Security Center. 

Mavix enhancements 

• MediaRacer 150 support. Security Center now supports the Mavix MediaRacer 150. 

Additional configuration is required on the unit’s Web page before adding the unit in 

Omnicast. For more information, see the Security Center Video Unit Configuration 

Guide. 

Panasonic enhancements 

• Panasonic auto-pan feature. Panasonic WV-SW395 (DG-SW395) and WV-SW396 

(DG-SW396) units now support the auto-pan feature in Security Desk. For information 

about configuring this feature, see the Security Center Video Unit Configuration 

Guide. 

• Panasonic 3 megapixel camera support. Panasonic 3 megapixel cameras are now supported 

in Security Center, which can stream at a resolution of 3 Megapixels in H.264. 

To enable an image quality of 3 Megapixels, the 3 Megapixel mode must be configured 

on the unit’s Web page. For more information, see the Security Center Video Unit Configuration 

Guide. 

• PelcoD-Zoom only protocol. This protocol is now available in Security Center to support 

the Panasonic WV-CZ392 analog camera. 

• Cropping function. Security Center now supports the cropping function available on 

the following Panasonic units: 

• WV-SP508 

• WV-SP509 

• WV-SW558 

• WV-SW558 

The Panasonic cropping feature must be configured on the unit’s Web page. For more 

information, see your Panasonic unit’s documentation 




Pelco enhancements 

• Sarix H.264 multicast streaming. Security Center now supports H.264 multicast 

streaming on Sarix units with firmware 1.8.2 or later. 

Sanyo enhancements 

• Sanyo motion detection. Sanyo units now support software motion detection in Security 


Sony enhancements 

• Sony edge recording and trickling. Sony cameras with firmware 1.61 and later now 

support video trickling in Security Center through the Sony Edge storage feature. For 

more information about configuring this feature, see the Security Center Video Unit 

Configuration Guide. 

Verint enhancements 

• S1808e video signal status improvement. Signal recovered and signal lost events are 

now logged in Security Center for the S1808e encoder when the unit comes back 

online. 

• Verint firmware enhancements. 

AutoVu LPR enhancements 

• Firmware 2.2.5.284.100729 is now supported with Verint S1801 and S1802 encoders 

in Security Center. 

• Firmware 2.2.5.273.99788 is now supported with Verint S1808 and S1816 encoders 

in Security Center. 

• 5.1 SR2 supports all AutoVu configurations. All four AutoVu LPR configurations are 

supported in 5.1 SR2: 

• Law Enforcement 

• City Parking Enforcement (with or without Wheel Imaging) 

• University Parking Enforcement 

• MLPI (Mobile License Plate Inventory). 

• Simplified AutoVu configuration. To simplify the configuration of an AutoVu system, 

many of the common AutoVu-related tasks in Config Tool are pre-configured based on 

your specific Security Center license. 

Here are some examples: 

• The LPR Manager root folder is automatically created on your computer. 

• The Config Tool user interface includes only the information you need for your particular 

configuration. For example, if you're a Law Enforcement user, you won't see 




tabs or buttons related to City Parking Enforcement, such as Overtime rules, Permit 

Restrictions, and so on. 

• Several common New wanted categories are available: Amber, Stolen, Felon, Person 

of Interest, and BOLO (be on the lookout). 

• Several common hit reject reasons are available: Police vehicle, Duplicate, Already 

processed, Misread, Other. 

• An AutoVu user, user group, and privilege template are available. 

This simplified configuration will help you get an AutoVu system up and running faster 

and more efficiently than in previous versions. 

• Search feature added to the Hotlist and permit editor. Intended for hotlists and permit 

lists with 100,000 entries or less, you can now search for a full or partial license 

plate in the Hotlist and permit editor. 

• Force Patroller password change. You can force Patroller users to change their passwords 

when they first log on. This simplifies AutoVu configuration because you could 

set the same initial password for all Patroller users in a user group. When each user logs 

on to Patroller for the first time, Patroller will ask for a new personal password. 

• Increased database retention periods. You can set the LPR Manager's route, hit, read, 

and event retention periods to a maximum of 2000 days (5.4 years). In previous versions 

of Security Center, retention periods were limited to 999 days (2.7 years). 

• Native resolution of license plates in reports. When you run a Hits report in Security 

Desk, the license plate image is now displayed in its native resolution. This results in a 

better quality image when you print the hit. 

• Hotlist matching supported for Japanese plates. AutoVu’s hotlist matching mechanism 

supports Japanese license plates. Japanese plates consist of four types of characters: 

small and large digits, Kanji, and Hiragana. The LPR context reads all characters, 

and matches small, large, and Hiragana characters to hotlists. This feature is available 

for both fixed and mobile applications. 

New supported video units in Security Center 5.1 SR2 

The following video units are now supported in Security Center 5.1 SR2. For each unit 

model, the Archiver extension and certification level is listed.

Plugin enhancements 

• PTZ-in-tile enhancements. When using PTZ-in-tile with PTZ cameras that do not 

support Direct XYZ positioning, you can now click anywhere inside the tile to move 

the camera in that direction. Previously, you had to click the blue dot in the center of 

the tile, and then drag the camera to move it in that direction. 

• Video overlay in tiles. You can display or hide the video overlay controls in Security 

Desk tiles. From the Visual options page in the Options dialog box, select or clear the 

Display overlay video controls option. 

• OnGuard plugin. Security Center now supports the OnGuard plugin, an access control 

plugin that allows OnGuard® access control system to be seamlessly integrated into 

Security Center. The OnGuard plugin allows you to: 

• Create links between OnGuard-controlled devices, door, and input points, and the 

cameras monitoring them in Security Center. 

• View live and playback video associated to OnGuard access control events. 

• Acknowledge OnGuard alarms in Security Desk. 

• Search for OnGuard access control event history. 

• Video Translator plugin. The Video Translator plugin 3.0 is designed for OnGuard ® 

access control systems. It allows Security Center cameras to be viewed from the System 

Administrator, Alarm Monitoring and Video Viewer OnGuard applications. The Video 

Translator plugin allows you to: 

• View live and archived Security Center video. 

• Control Security Center PTZ cameras. 

• Export Security Center G64 video files with watermarking. 

• Receive Security Center video events in OnGuard. 





• Tab delimiters. The TAB key can now be used as a delimiter for fields in hotlist text 

files. 

• New and enhanced contexts. License plate recognition is now available, or has been 

improved, for the following license plates:

General product enhancements 

• Installer enhancements. Hotfixes for Security Center 5.1 and later can now be 

installed using a hotfix installer. Also, the Security Center installer now creates the necessary 

firewall rules for its applications. 

• Forward and backward compatibility. Security Center Directory can connect to different 

versions of Security Center client and server applications, making it easier to 

upgrade large systems. A difference of up to two minor versions forwards and two 

minor versions backwards is supported. 

• High Availability Directory. Includes the following features: 

• Directory failover. If a Directory server fails, a standby server can automatically 

replace it. 

• Load balancing. The Directory can be spread across multiple servers to share the 

workload. 

• View live and playback video even if you lose connection to the Directory. 

• Active Directory enhancements. 

• Support for multiple domains. Security Center can now connect to more than one 

Active Directory domain (designed to support up to 10). 

• Custom Field synchronization. You can now synchronize attributes from the Active 

Directory to custom fields in Security Center. This is supported for users, cardholders, 

user groups and cardholder groups. 

• Health monitoring. You can now monitor the health of your system using the Health 

Monitoring role. It includes the following features: 

• Monitors the health of the entire system. 

• Logs health events in the Windows Event Log that have been triggered by Security 

Center services, roles, agents, units, and client applications. 

• Provides real time alerts as well as detailed historical reporting. 

• Calculates statistics within specified time frame (hours, days, months). 




• Calculates availability for clients, server, and video/access/LPR units. 

• Receives events that are sent directly from various roles and entities. 

This features also allows you to view health events in the Health History report, and 

retrieve health events via the SDK. 

• Move units between manager roles. If you are using multiple manager roles spread 

across your network, you can now easily move units between those managers with the 

Move Unit tool. 

• AutoVu example. If you have a dedicated LPR Manager for each police station precinct 

in a city, and a particular patroller unit is transferred to another precinct, you 

can use the Move Unit tool to easily move the Patroller unit to the new LPR Manager 

without losing data. 

• Synergis example. After an office expansion you may want one Access Manager to 

control all access control units (door controllers) on one floor and another Access 

Manager to control all units on a different floor. You can use the Move Unit tool to 

move a door controller to the new Access Manager without losing data. 

• Plan Manager. Plan Manager is an advanced map-based interface for Security Center. 

It allows you to create interactive environments from maps or floor plans for easier 

monitoring and navigation. Live video, doors, alarms, inputs/outputs, PTZ motors, and 

more can be monitored and controlled from the Plan Manager interface in Security 

Desk. 

• RF Code Asset Management plugin. Security Center now supports the RF Code Asset 

Management plugin, which enables you to do the following: 

• Synchronize RF Code assets with Security Center assets (a new entity). 

• Monitor asset-related events and activities live. 

• Synchronize RF Code alerts with Security Center alarms automatically. 

• Acknowledge alarms in Security Center, which will clear alerts in the RF Code solution. 

• View video tied to asset-related activity and alerts. 

• Perform real-time tracking of asset locations using the Asset Management Inventory 

reporting task. 

• View events associated to tracked assets using the Asset Activity reporting task. 

• Honeywell Galaxy panel integration. Security Center now supports the Honeywell 

Galaxy control panels, which enables you to do the following: 

• Map inputs and devices connected to the alarm panel to intrusion detection areas in 

Security Center. 

• Monitor the connection between the Security Center Server and the alarm panel 

using the heartbeat feature. 

• Create event-to-actions for events that are sent from the alarm panel. 

• Create custom events, which can be monitored in Security Desk. 

• Monitor intrusion detection area state changes in real time in Security Desk 




• Receive events and alarms from the alarm panel, and monitor them in Security 

Desk. 

• Arm and disarm the intrusion detection areas defined on your intrusion panels in 


• Receive live reports on input state changes in Security Desk. 

• Create reports on events received from the alarm panel. 

• Trigger intrusion alarms on intrusion detection areas or intrusion detection units in 


• Generate detailed activity reports on intrusion detection areas or intrusion detection 

units. 

• Language support. Hebrew, Hungarian, Polish, Thai, and Traditional Chinese are now 

supported in Security Center. 

Config Tool enhancements 

• Task-based interface. To improve usability and ensure consistency with Security Desk, 

the Config Tool is now task-based. It’s redesigned home page lists the available tasks, 

favorites, and more. 

• New tasks available. The following tasks are now available in the Config Tool: Role 

View, Network View, Logical View, System, Security, Access Control, and LPR. 

• Security Desk tasks are now available in Config Tool. Cardholder Management, Credential 

Management, and all Maintenance related tasks. 

• New reports available. Health Statistics, and Health History reports. 


• New Home page. The Security Desk’s redesigned home page lists the available tasks 

and recently used tasks, and allows you to access your saved private and public tasks, 

the Tools menu, the About menu, and the Options dialog box. 

• Workspace layout enhancements. The dashboard is now located on the right hand 

side of the interface.Video timelines have been moved from the playback widget, to 

each display tile. 

• New reports available. Health statistics, Asset management and Forensic search 

reports. 

• Health warnings in notification tray. Health warnings now appear in the notification 

tray. If you double-click the icon, it opens the Health History report. 

• New custom field filters for reports. There is now a custom fields filter in the Cardholder 

configuration and Credential configuration reports. 

• Digital PTZ zoom support. In-tile digital zoom is now supported. 




• Event priority enhancements. Event priorities have been replaced by background colors 

that are visible the event list and display tiles. To easily distinguish critical events 

from less important events, and ensure that critical events stand out, you can assign different 

colors to different events. 

• Out of process media decoding. The media decoding process now can be executed 

outside of the application process, which increases the overall performance of the client 

applications. 

• Quick archives. When viewing live video, you can quickly play back recordings from 

the same camera by browsing date/time and thumbnail previews. 

• Two ways to send tasks. There are now two ways to send a task to other Security Desk 

applications: 

• Previous method: Right-click on a task tab to send the task to a user or monitor. A 

pop up message appears on the remote workstation asking if the recipient accepts 

the sent task. 

• New method: Send task is a system action which can be linked to an event (like 

alarm triggered), or executed manually through a hot action. 

This new method does not produce a dialog asking if the sent task is accepted, 

which is useful for video walls. This method also includes the opposite command, 

Clear tasks, which removes tasks from a remote workstation. 

• Snapshot manager. The Snapshot manager performs some of the tasks that used to be 

available from the camera widget, such as delete, rename, or print snapshots, or send 

the snapshots by email. The camera widget in Security Desk now only has the Save 

snapshot button. 

Omnicast video surveillance enhancements 

• Uninterrupted video streaming. Video streams displayed in the Security Desk remain 

available even if the Directory or other critical roles become unavailable. 

• Video trickling. Video stored on edge devices can be transferred on a schedule, on 

demand or by an event, to the Security Center Archiver. 

• Auxiliary Archiver. Cameras can be recorded in a remote location, at different qualities, 

and on different schedules than the main Archiver. 

• Forensic search task. Ability to perform forensic (video analytic) search using Bosch 

video units with edge recording capabilities and IVA enabled. 

• AAC audio codec (Axis). Advanced Audio Coding (AAC) audio type, which provides 

better audio quality, is now supported on select video units such as Axis. 

• Support for watermarking with Bosch VRM. Watermarking verification is now possible 

for video recorded by the Bosch VRM using an external tool. 

• Support for video file protection with Bosch VRM. Video files recorded on a Bosch 

VRM can be protected for an indefinite protection period in Security Desk. 




• Support for ACTi MJPEG and H.264 in full extension. ACTi MJPEG and H.264 

video units now benefit from the full ACTi extension capabilities. 

• Bosch maximum bit rate. A maximum bit rate value can now be applied in the video 

quality configuration page for Bosch video units. 

• Axis - disable Bonjour discovery option. The default Bonjour network discovery protocol 

can now be disabled if desired for Axis video units. 

• Archive viewing limitation now granular to the minute. Users can be limited from 

viewing video archives based on a time value of days/hours/minutes. For example, an 

operator can be limited to playback recordings created within the last 2 days, 12 hours 

and 30 minutes. Any recording older this value cannot be played back by the operator. 

• Motion detection configuration utility. The level of sensitivity for a camera’s motion 

detection configuration can now be set using an Auto calibrate utility. 

• Support for Sentry 360. Sentry 360 H.264 units are now supported in Security Center. 

Use Security Center features to dewarp the 360 degree view. 

Synergis access control enhancements 

IMPORTANT Synergis Web Client is no longer available as of Security Center 5.1 GA. It is 

replaced by Security Center Web Client. For more information, see "Security Center Mobile 

compatibility" on page 60. 

• Global Cardholder Management enhancements. The Cardholder Management task 

now allows you to do the following: 

• Cardholders, cardholder groups, credentials, custom fields, and badge templates can 

be synchronized between sites from a central location. 

• Changes to a remote site can be synchronized with the central site, and with other 

remote sites. 

• Cardholders added centrally can be synchronized to remote sites. 

• One card can be used for all sites within a multi-campus, geographically dispersed 

organization. 

• Synchronize Active Directory custom fields for cardholders. Active Directory custom 

fields can be synchronized to cardholder custom fields. This avoids the need to 

manage custom fields separately from Active Directory, and extends the synchronization 

capabilities of the feature. 

• HID unit synchronization enhancements. This feature includes the following: 

• Enhanced synchronization between units and the Access Manager. 

• A unit that gets disconnected from the network or from the Access Manager will no 

longer force a full synchronization. 

• PIN visibility. You can now view the PIN code digits in Config Tool and Security Desk. 

The Show PIN settings is available in the Cardholder management task. 





• Patroller and Sharp live updates. You can use Security Center Config Tool to update 

services and send hotfixes to Patroller units and Sharp cameras, as well as send new 

sound files to be used for Patroller hit alerts. Both fixed and mobile Sharp cameras can 

be updated, with mobile Sharps receiving the updates through Patroller. You can 

update individual Patroller and Sharp units or update all units and services simultaneously. 

• Health monitoring available for LPR. You can now use Security Center’s health monitoring 

feature to monitor LPR-related information. This allows you to detect health 

issues early enough to avoid potential issues in the future. Health monitoring also provides 

you with information to help identify the cause of various health problems so you 

can prevent them from occurring again. 

• Server-configured Patroller options. You can configure several options for individual 

Patroller units directly from Security Center Config Tool. You can also use the Copy 

configuration tool to easily copy these settings to any or all of your other Patroller units: 

• Sound management settings. Configure Patroller to play a sound when reading a 

plate and/or generating a hit, and choose whether sounds should be played even 

when Patroller is minimized. 

• Acknowledgment buffer settings. Specify a buffer restriction that limits how many 

hits can remain unacknowledged (not accepted or rejected) before Patroller starts 

automatically rejecting all subsequent hits. You can also choose (by priority) which 

hotlists should comply with this restriction. 

• Hotlist hit delay settings. Specify a hit delay that tells Patroller to disregard multiple 

hits on the same plate for the duration of the delay. For example, if you set a delay of 

10 minutes, no matter how many times Patroller reads the same plate during those 

10 minutes, it will generate only one hit (assuming the plate is on a hotlist). 

• AutoVu Patroller enhancements. For AutoVu Patroller enhancements, see the AutoVu

The following software issues were resolved in Security Center 5.1 SR2. Generic issues are 

categorized by solution. Unit specific issues are categorized by manufacturer and/or model.

All 56928 Sometimes the event-to-actions list in the Action tab is not automatically updated.

exist. 

All 57687 Federation: When generating an event report on a federation host with multiple federated 

systems having custom events defined, the event sources are sometimes mixed up.

briefly.

Workaround: Repeat the synchronization manually. 

Access 58001 Cardholder Management: Cardholder search does not work in Cards view. 

Workaround: Use Details view instead. 

Access 58207 Cannot use the copy configuration tool to copy access rules. 

Access 59075 CT - VertX units: Cannot refresh or view current Analog 2 Digital (A/D) values, when 

Config Tool window is at its minimum size. 

Access 59077 CT - VertX units: After changing the Analog 2 Digital (A/D) input calibration value, the 

Refresh button becomes unavailable. 

Workaround: On the Properties page, click another input or output. The Refresh button 

reappears. 

Access 59965 The Area presence and People counting reports do not report on newly added access 

control units. 

Workaround: After adding an access control unit to an Access Manager, deactivate and 

reactivate the Access Manager, and then run the reports. 

Access 71515 SDK: Once the Expiration credential has been set to a specific date, it cannot be changed

automatically add the extension to support the camera.

multiple Archivers and Auxiliary Archivers, some segments of the selected video sequence

Video 57915 Export: When exporting video with a specific playback source from the tile, the export

Workaround: Select again the source from the export dialog box.

New "Audio mode" options have been added for Security Desk under Video options,

All 62682 After upgrading from Security Center 5.0 SR1 to 5.1 GA, a new server is created. As a 

result, the existing server and all associated roles become inactive. 

Workaround: Assign the roles to the new server. 

All 67216 In Security Center 5.1 GA, you cannot log on to Security Center using supervised logon. 

All 67742 SD: Selecting Force Windows credentials in the General options page of the Options 

dialog box only applies for the current user, not the local computer. 

Workaround: Select the Force Windows credentials option for each user individually. 

All 68325 If the connection between the Directory and the database is lost, when the connection is 

restored you cannot trigger alarms until the Directory is manually restarted.

All 21823 CT: For languages written from right to left, such as Arabic and Persian, the user interface 

of some tools and configuration tabs in the Config Tool may not have been inverted. 

All 56399 CT: Deleting a unit does not remove the references to its devices in the configuration of 

other entities, such as zones. 

Workaround: Manually remove the references to devices of deleted units from other entity 

configurations. 

All 56972 CT: Deleting a role's database whose status is Not connected, may cause the role to go 

offline. To bring the role back online, you'll need to click Deactivate role and then Activate 

role. 

All 57800 SD/CT: Under Windows XP, the drop-down menu sometimes appears behind the window 

it belongs to. 

All 58186 SD/CT: Custom filter applied using the Search dialog box does not always display properly. 

Workaround: Select the control where the selection is supposed to appear and do a right 

mouse-click or press F5. 

All 59831 Information about query results greater than 500 appears as 

an error message (“error occurred while processing” or “Query 

failure”), leading the user to think an error occurred. 

This message should be displayed as an information message, not as an error message, since 

Security Center is letting the user know that the report is not displaying images in order to 

prevent timeout errors. 



Known issues 


All 60026 When upgrading a secondary Archiver server, the Archiver role does not automatically fail 

back to the primary Archiver server, resulting in the loss of video recordings during the 

upgrade period. 

Workaround: Before you upgrade the secondary Archiver server, you'll need to stop the 

ArchiverDomain service on the secondary Archiver server. 

1 Upgrade the main server. 

The primary Archiver server continues to record video. 

2 Upgrade the primary Archiver server. 

The Archiver role fails over to the secondary Archiver server. 

3 On the secondary Archiver server, open the Server Admin console: from a web browser, 

type ///genetec/console#/Services. 

4 From the Service domains list, select ArchiverDomain, and then click X at the bottom 

of the list. 

The Archiver role fails back to the primary Archiver server. 

5 Upgrade the secondary Archiver server. 

All 61475 Zone: Config Tool does not prevent an input used for zone arming/disarming from being 

used as zone input, making it impossible for the zone to be armed on input change. 

All 62247 Server Admin: Illegal characters entered by mistake in the "Security Center Directory" field 

of an expansion server prevent the Genetec Server service from restarting. 

Workaround: Manually edit the file C:\Program Files\Genetec Security Center 5.1\ConfigurationFiles\GenetecServer.gconfig 

and change in the tag, the directory 

parameter to blank (directory=""), then manually start the Genetec Server service. 

All 64016 Health monitoring: No way to filter the Health history report based on a particular 

Directory (as Source entity). 

Workaround: Use the Directory source group instead. But all Directories will be listed, if 

there are many. 

All 64017 IPv6: After enabling IPv6 on your system, all network cards on the servers discovered prior 

to switching to IPv6 retain their names showing an IPv4 address, which could be 

misleading. 

All 64025 IPv6: Unable to connect to Server Admin with Config Tool (Network view > server entity) 

when IPv6 is enabled. 

Workaround: Use an external Web browser (IE9) instead. 

All 64178 Time zone : The option to “Display time based on each device’s time zone” is ignored by the 

Archives and Health history reports. This may cause you to miss certain expected events if 

your workstation and the devices being investigated are not in the same time zone. 

All 64516 Health monitoring: Not all health events, such as Archiving started and Database lost, are 

logged by the Health monitor. 



Known issues 


All 67032 Health monitoring: Some health events are not logged, such as Directory started and 

Directory stopped unexpectedly, when the Directory database failover uses Mirroring. 

All 68656 SD/CT: Email report does not display the settings you configured in the Date and time 

options tab, instead it displays the date and time settings of the Genetec main server. 

All 73182 Server Admin: Invalid database names are not detected at creation time, leading to an 

invalid database to be created, which cannot be deleted from Sever Admin. 

Workaround: Use SQL Server Management Studio to manually delete the invalid database, 

then recreate a valid database with Server Admin. 

All 74270 CT: License usage count is not updated when units are added or removed from the system. 

Workaround: Restart Config Tool. Simply logging off and on is not enough. 

All 80865 CT: Language tool does not work properly for Simplified Chinese. 

Access 40220 SD: “Door locked” and “Door unlocked” events are not shown in the Door activity report. 

Access 40596 The limitations when triggering outputs in a zone are as follows: 

• The entry delay is applied for both the Normal-to-Active and Active-to-Normal zone 

state transitions. 

• When an Active-to-Normal zone state transition occurs, all corresponding event-toactions 

will launch immediately except for the trigger output, which will launch after 

entry delay expires. 

Access 59362 Cardholder Management: Cropping feature does not crop the area defined by the user. 

Access 59530 CT: Not all required fields for Honeywell intrusion detection units are validated by the 

entity creation wizard. 

Workaround: When creating a Honeywell intrusion detection unit, the Account number 

and the Remote user code must be numeric and not exceed 6 digits each. 

Access 60634 Global Cardholder Management: The first scheduled synchronization fails. 

Workaround: Perform a manual synchronization first. The following scheduled synchronizations 

will then run successfully. 

Access 77317 CT: While creating a new cardholder with the wizard, once the cardholder entity name is 

initialized, going back to change the first or last name does not automatically update the 

entity name. 

Video 52686 When a server is configured as a proxy (with a public address) on a network, all stream 

requests are redirected through it, even when the request is issued from inside the network. 

Workaround: To avoid having the proxy server becoming a bottleneck, create a dummy 

network entity and assign the proxy server to it. 

Video 57147 SD: Viewing multiple video streams federated from Omnicast 4.x in synchronized playback 

mode does not always work. 



Known issues 


Video 57265 SD: When you move playback to the beginning of a sequence, audio may stop. To turn 

audio back on, click Listen twice. 

Video 57553 Auxiliary Archiver: when you deactivate and activate the role, a warning appears briefly on 

screen. This is a false-positive warning notification. 

Video 57829 SD: The playback timeline might not display correctly when switching between valid and 

invalid video sources. 

Workaround: Select the valid playback source a second time. 

Video 58555 CT: PTZ calibration for the direct XYZ positioning feature is very difficult because the 

specific field of view parameters are not supplied by default for the specific camera model. 

Video 58892 Video feed may flicker when changing the resolution. 

Video 64168 Move unit: When moving an edge recording camera from one Archiver to another, the 

trickling parameters are not deleted from the first Archiver. 

Video 64546 IPv6: After an Archiver failover or failback on a full IPv6 network, the video stream 

connections are not restored. 

Video 66950 Media Router: When IPv6 is enabled, all IPv4 video streams are ignored. Media Router 

does not support dual stack. When you decide to enable IPv6 on one server in your system, 

you must enable it on all servers in your system. A Security Center system using IPv6 

cannot receive the video from a federated system using IPv4. 

Video 67536 Migration tool: Steps that do not apply to certain scenarios are left empty by the Wizard 

instead of being skipped, such as the "Omnicast information" step when there is no 

Directory to migrate, which could be confusing to the user. 

Video 69274 SD: Audio volume cannot be changed on Security Desk when it comes from federated 

Omnicast cameras and decoded using out of process media components. 

Video 74109 CT: Changing the key frame interval on a H.264 camera from number of seconds per key 

frame to number of images per key frame may cause the video streaming to stop. 

Workaround: Change something else in the video quality and click Apply. 

Video 74163 CT: The key frame interval is not converted properly from number of images per key frame 

to number of seconds per key frame if the end result is less than a second. 

Workaround: Change the key frame interval to 2 seconds and back to 1 second. 

Video 76093 Audio playback is not always available at the time audio recording is started. The Archiver 

saves audio and video streams in video files (G64). If audio recording is enabled in the 

middle of a video file, audio playback will only be available at the start of the next video file. 

Video 76407 Some video stream statistics information overlayed on the video tile (CTRL+SHIFT+A) is 

not updated during playback. The Key frame interval is not updated at playback speed 

higher than 4x or -4x. The RTP packets lost/received are not updated during playback. The 

Network transport is not updated during playback.

Video 76946 Motion detection: On high resolution cameras, Config Tool does not display as many 

motion blocks as the Archiver is capable of detecting. 

Video 77127 Export: Folders are not created automatically if they do not exist. 

Workaround: Manually create the folder before the export. 

Video 77176 CPU usage is not shown correctly in the notification tray when Security Desk is overloaded 

(16 camera streams). 

Video 77179 Export: The Export video from all tiles command (CTRL+SHIFT+E) only exports the tiles 

showing playback video. 

Workaround: Use the Export video from selected tile command (CTRL+E) instead. 

Video 77312 SD: When the timeline is displayed in a tile, it may take up to 5 seconds for the information 

to be refreshed. 

Video 77316 Auxiliary Archiver: Switching the order of the archive storage disks does not take effect 

until the role is restarted. 

Video 77642 SD: The Listen button in the camera widget remains enabled when the playback speed is 

higher than 4x or -4x, eventhough the audio is automatically disabled. 

Video 77721 Edge playback: Audio playback is not supported on edge recording unit. 

Video 82517 Trickling: Video Trickling does not work correctly on Windows XP. 

HID 3461 V200/V300: Periodic output behavior does not always toggle properly. Recommendation: 

Set output transitions for a minimum duration of 5 seconds or more. 

HID 56493 HID VertX V1000: On the first attempt, Security Center may not be able to add a VertX 

V1000 unit (2.2.7.78). The first time you try to add a VertX V1000 (2.2.7.78) to Security 

Center, an error appears. Security Center will then reboot the unit. After the unit is 

rebooted, the second time you try to add the unit, Security Center is able to add the unit to 

the system. 

HID 57112 Unit discovery does not show the new name you give to a unit (in the unit, Identities tab) 

until the unit is rebooted or its power is cycled. 

HID 57113 When a Door unlock schedule override is removed, there is a delay of 40 seconds before 

the door’s unit is fully programmed. 

Interlogix 69015 Interlogix: Configuring motion detection on Interlogix Legend IP cameras may cause the 

Config Tool to crash. 

Sentry 360 59245 Camera may stop responding and require a power cycle to come back online. 

Sentry 360 60643 Cameras using H.264 can produce large increases in bandwidth usage that result in video 

glitches. 

Workaround: Install camera on a Gigabit network.

Sentry 360 60839 When using the dewarping feature in Security Desk, if you zoom using your mouse wheel 

button, it zooms to the center of the image, not where your mouse is pointing.

startup. Workaround: Limit the “On startup” tasks to “Execute a macro” actions. 

All 11280 The status of a device (camera or door) shown in a Security Center map is not updated on 

the map when the device goes temporarily offline (red) and back online. 

Workaround: Remove the map from the canvas and drag it back to the canvas. 

All 12224 Time zone abbreviations are not supported in the printed reports. 

All 13097 The Active Directory role may stop working after the Microsoft Active Directory domain 

controller is restarted. 

Workaround: Deactivate the role for at least 3 minutes and reactivate it. 

All 13616 Database backups cannot be purged when the database server is not on the same computer 

as the server role (Security Center Directory or Synergis Access Manager). 

All 22169 Server Admin cannot use the default HTTP port 80 on a Windows XP 32-bit machine if IIS 

service is installed. (Workaround modify port to use one other than port 80). 

All 24428 Security Desk keyboard shortcuts cannot be used (such as space to acknowledge an alarm) 

when the focus is on a tile displaying a map. 

Workaround: Use the command buttons found in the map instead. 

All 56703 SD: Not all query filters in reporting tasks are updated live when the system configuration 

changes, such as when new custom fields or custom events are added. 

Workaround: To view the new query filter options, delete the task and recreate it. 

All 70356 The Portable Archive Player cannot play back encrypted video. 

Access 16721 Modifying the members (doors, elevators, captive areas) of an area might disrupt the Time 

and attendance report of that area for the time range prior to the change. 

Workaround: Restoring the old membership settings also restores the old time and attendance 

values. 



Limitations 


Access 19239 Elevator control – Configuring an exception to unlock schedule (controlled access) on a 

floor without a corresponding unlock schedule (free access) may cause the VertX controller 

to stop sending events to the Access Manager. 

Access 21998 PIN credential active state is ignored when used with a CARD & PIN reader. To support 

units that have a combination of normal readers and CARD & PIN readers, only the 

CARD's credential status is used. 

Access 37088 Security Center does not support Reactivation threshold settings for zones entities. 

Access 51996 When the association between a credential and a badge template is changed at a remote site 

(in a roaming environment), this change is not updated at the central site. 

Access 57615 Denying a Global Cardholder Synchronizer role the “Modify credential information” 

privilege does not prevent its users on the sharing site from changing the shared PIN 

credentials. 

Workaround: In the context of Global Cardholder Management, in order to prevent the 

sharing site users from modifying the shared PIN credentials, the Global Cardholder Synchronizer 

roles must be denied the “Add/delete credentials” privilege on the sharing host. 

Access 77794 Creating two Access Manager roles on the same host server is not supported and will 

generate a "Database service already exists" error. The error will persist even after you 

delete one of the roles. 

Intrusion 26345 Bosch GV2 alarm panel: If an intrusion area is not ready to be armed, the alarm panel will 

still accept the command to arm it. However, it will only be armed once the intrusion area 

is actually ready to be armed. 

LPR 15199 AutoVu LPR: Sharp units under Patrollers always appear as online in SD and CT, regardless 

of their real status, as long as the Patroller is connected to the LPR Manager external 

system. 

LPR 15676 AutoVu LPR: When configuring a permit restriction, it is not possible to define a time 

restriction that spans only one day. 

LPR 16619 AutoVu LPR: While parsing hotlist or permit data files, parsing errors such as the use of 

wrong delimiter characters, are not indicated. 

Workaround: Always double-check that the files are loaded correctly in the Patroller. 

LPR 17892 SD – Geographical map: Regions drawn on maps as filters for certain type of reports 

appear on top of the Bing map controls, blocking their access. 

Workaround: Move the map around or zoom in/out with the mouse wheel. 

LPR 18525 AutoVu LPR – SD: When the thumbnail LPR images are not shown in a LPR report (for 

queries returning more than 1000 rows), they are not displayed in the tiles either. 

Workaround: Click on the “Magnifying glass” button in the tile to display the LPR image. 



Limitations 


LPR 19580 Inventory management task and Inventory report tasks in the SecurityDesk may use a lot of 

memory. To avoid performance issues while running a query on a large parking facility 

inventory (40K places or more), it is recommended to delete all tasks unrelated to MLPI 

from your task list before launching the query. 

LPR 20489 SD: The timestamp associated to a hit corresponds to the time the patrolling officer took 

action on the hit (Accepted, Rejected, or Not enforced), not the time the hit was raised. 

LPR 25725 LPR Manager database cleanup begins when the LPR Manager database table reaches 

20,000 reads. Previously, the LPR Manager database cleanup did not start until the database 

table reached 100,0000 reads. If using SQL 2008 Express, the database could not reach 

100,000 reads before reaching the 4 GB limit in SQL Express. 

LPR 26008 While upgrading Security Center from 4.0 to 5.0, the server and database used in 4.0 are 

not automatically reassigned to the LPR Manager role in 5.0. 

Workaround: You need to reassign the resources manually in the Config Tool. 

LPR 44225 SD: In an Inventory report, to permanently get rid of the unreconciled reads, you must 

delete them from the database, one at a time. Using the multiple selection only removes 

them from your current report. 

NOTE Deleting an unreconciled read from the database means you are deleting it from the 

offload file, so it will not reappear the next time you look for it in the Inventory report. The 

read remains available in the database other reads report. 

LPR 56903 In Config Tool, after moving a Patroller unit to another LPR Manager, it still appears under 

the previous LPR Manager. 

Workaround: Click Refresh in the Entity browser. 

LPR 57731 Moving a Patroller unit to a new LPR Manager requires additional setting changes in 

Patroller Config Tool. For more information, see “Move Patroller or LPR units betweenLPR 

Managers” in the AutoVu Handbook. 

Video 11998 Omnicast 4 alarm priorities are not converted when federated in the Security Center. All 

federated Omnicast alarms have a priority of 1. 

Workaround: Adjust the priorities of federated Omnicast alarms manually in the Config 

Tool. 

Video 12908 The nVidia video card may cause the Security Desk to stop working when hardware 

acceleration is turned on and set to “Full”. 

Workaround: Set hardware acceleration to “None”. 

Video 13195 If UltraVNC is installed on a computer, the Security Desk may be unable to display video. 

Workaround: Uninstall UltraVNC. 

Video 25318 Federated camera sequences does not show video from cameras that are blocked to any 

user on the remote system, regardless of the privileges of the user account used to connect 

to the federated Directory. 



Limitations 


Video 25322 All cameras in a federated camera sequence are displayed on the federation host even 

though the user account used to connect to the federated Directory does not have access to 

all of them. 

Video 28991 SD: When displaying an HTML map in a tile while viewing video in the tile next to it, the 

map will overlap the video thumbnails. 

Video 40314 Alarm playback loop is permanently set in Security Desk. 

The alarm playback loop is set between the following time ranges: 

• Start time: Alarm trigger minus pre-trigger setting. 

• End time: Alarm trigger plus 10 seconds. 

Video 52172 When attempting to back up an Auxiliary Archiver that is installed on an expansion server 

to a file on that computer, you may receive an error because the SQL Server may not have 

permission to back up to that location. 

Workaround: Back up to a folder the SQL Server has access to. 

Video 58329 Backward compatibility: Security Desk 5.0 and earlier cannot play AAC audio coming 

from Security Center 5.1. 

Video 63409 Move unit: After moving a video unit, the unit is still shown under its old Archiver after it 

comes back online. 

Workaround: Manually refresh the entity tree after the unit comes back online. 

Video 63523 Move unit: Cannot view playback video from Auxiliary Archiver after moving a video unit 

from one Archiver role to another. 

Workaround: Restart Genetec Server service hosting the Auxiliary Archiver. 

Video 64274 Edge recording: Thumbnails are not available if the video is only recorded on the edge unit. 

Workaround: To see thumbnails in any kind of video reports (Bookmarks, Camera events, 

etc.), the video must be trickled to the Archiver. 

Video 78880 SD: When playing back Omnicast 4.8 federated video, the rewind speed starts at -10x 

instead of -1x. 

Video 81898 When you export a G64 file that contains audio to ASF, the audio quality is bad. 

Bosch 76282 Bosch MPEG2 units: G64-to-ASF conversion takes longer on Security Center than on 

Omnicast. 

HID 57114 AC fail inputs: If the VertX V1000 AC Fail input is used to monitor AC, then the AC Fail 

inputs on all interface modules (V100, V200, V300) controlled by the V1000 must only be 

used for monitoring AC. Similarly, if the V1000 AC Fail is used as a general purpose input, 

the AC Fail interface modules must only be used for general purpose inputs. 



Limitations 


HID 57115 Battery fail inputs: If the VertX V1000 Battery Fail input is used to monitor battery failure, 

then the Battery Fail inputs on all interface modules (V100, V200, V300) controlled by the 

V1000 must only be used for monitoring battery failure. Similarly, if the V1000 Battery Fail 

is used as a general purpose input, the Battery Fail interface modules must only be used for 

general purpose inputs. 

HID 57116 The HID VertX V1000 inputs and outputs cannot be used for the following purposes: 

• A door REX, door sensor, door lock 

• Elevator control or floor tracking 

• Interlock, including the override or lockdown functions 

• Readerless door 

• IO linking (Zone) 

• Door buzzer 

HID 57118 The HID Edge device (EdgeReader or EdgePlus) can only be used to control a single door. 

You cannot use two HID Edge devices to configure a door with two readers. The supported 

configuration for an Edge device is a card-in /REX-out door. 

HID 57119 You must stop the Access Manager before initiating a unit swap operation in the Config 

Tool. Once the swap is completed, the Access Manager can be restarted. 

Panasonic 40143 GXE500: When configuring multiple MPEG-4 streams in Config Tool, the Quality settings 

of stream 2 overwrite the settings of stream 1. 

Panasonic 41847 WV-SW355: A frame rate of 30 fps in MPEG is not supported. 

Interlogix 68001 Interlogix DVMRe units: G64-to-ASF conversion takes longer on Security Center than on 

Omnicast. 

Sony 74587 Sony 5th generation video units: The resolution of the second stream cannot be higher 

than the resolution of the first stream.

The requirements for Security Center backward compatibility are as follows: 

• Upgrading to latest version. If upgrading to the latest version (for example, from 5.0 

to 5.1), then you must always upgrade the main server hosting the Directory role and 

Config Tool. 

• Upgrading to latest service release. If upgrading to the latest service release (for 

example, 5.1 GA to SR2) then you do not need to upgrade the main server hosting the 

Directory role and Config Tool. 

• Using new features. A Security Center server must be upgraded in order to use the 

new features introduced in version 5.1 SR2. 

• Role is assigned to multiple servers. If a role is assigned to multiple servers, such as in 

a failover configuration, all its servers must be running the same version of Security
