Kentucky Kids’ Day 2011
“The Ohio River Runs Through Our Kentucky Heritage”
Eating KY Shaped cookies!
September 20, 2011 was KY Kids’
Day. Our children walked through a
pictorial timeline of the Ohio River
right in our front yard. With the help
of Sushannah Hahn and Amy
Leigh, our PTO reproduced specific
Roebling Murals that taught lessons
about Kentuckians interacting with
The Ohio River from pre-historic
times until the 1900’s. Volunteers
shared stories about the pictures to
help children see how the Ohio River
has changed KY history over time. A
big Thank You to Amy Leigh and
her volunteers: Laura Grimme,
Kristan Vennefron,Tonya Tierney,
Ami Workman, Jackie Thompson, Tricia Schroeder, Mary Schneider, Shirley
Hogg, Brenda Vinson, Sushannah Hahn, Patty Fernandez, Becky McIntosh, and
Lisa Stein.
Please take your children to visit ALL the Roebling Murals at the flood wall next to the
base of the Roebling Suspension Bridge. It will be a memorable, free family trip!
