APPLICATION
FOR MEMBERSHIP
Attached is an application for membership in the Senior Men's Club (SMC), which should be
completed and brought to an SMC Friday meeting or mailed to: Senior Men's Club Membership Chairman,
c/o New Canaan YMCA, 564 South Ave., New Canaan, CT 06840. The Club is affiliated with the YMCA,
but you do not have to be a member of the "Y" to belong to the Club. Annual dues are currently $50.
The Club welcomes as members men 55 years or older who live or own property in New Canaan and
wish to participate. Dress is casual and new friends are easily made. Membership is limited in number but
there is currently no waiting list.
The Club meets Fridays, from 10:00 A.M. to 11:30AM at Morrill Hall, St. Marks Church. Every
meeting features a social coffee time, a short business meeting and an interesting speaker who talks for
about 40 minutes before answering questions for the balance of an hour.
In addition to their Friday meetings, Club members engage in many activities. Examples: Amateur
Chefs (meet monthly to prepare a sumptuous meal for themselves in a professional grade kitchen); the
Friday Bridge group; Couth Trips (member & spouse trips to cultural, sports and other events); 4Fs
(Fourth Friday Stag Luncheons at various local restaurants and clubs); Golf Outings; Paddle Tennis
(winter); Photography; Racquetball; Tennis (summer); Touch the Future (working with local schools); Book
Group; Biking Club and Trailblazers (hikes and walks).
Members also participate as volunteers in many local organizations.
