Spotlight on Durban COP17<br />
The gap between our ambitions and the current pledges is simply too wide.<br />
And we need not remind anyone of the scale of climatic threats facing the<br />
most vulnerable countries in the world as a result of climate change.<br />

KEY CONTRIBUTIONS<br />
• Supporting the South African government in developing the South African<br />
Renewables Initiative (SARi) as a partnership with <strong>European</strong> countries; this initiative<br />
was launched during COP17<br />
• Supporting the EU presidency in climate finance discussions ahead of COP17<br />
• Supporting progressive developing countries through trusted advisers prior to and<br />
during the <strong>2011</strong> summit<br />
• Supporting UNEP's "Bridging the Emissions Gap" report in presentations and outreach<br />
• Launching the new <strong>Climate</strong>Works project on "Policies that work"<br />
• Hosting dinner discussions to explore new ground on the link between green<br />
growth and equitable access to sustainable development<br />
• Networking with the international expert community to advance the development<br />
of new initiatives (i.e., climate finance from aviation and shipping, Green Growth<br />
Best Practices)<br />
• In addition, <strong>ECF</strong> grantee <strong>Climate</strong>ActionTracker.org launched an analysis on current<br />
commitments before and after the Durban meeting<br />
