All suspicions, concerns or allegaons about criminal maers or child protecon maers should be reported directly to the General Manager on 07 3870 7000. If an individual has made a report to the relevant authority, they should also report the maer to the General Manager. The Associaon will then make direct contact with the relevant authority about the maer. Reporng to the Associaon enables the Associaon to work directly with the authories in managing the maer. ABSEILING INTO ADVENTURE Scouts from Stanthorpe, Clion and Warwick took part in abseiling off the Warwick Town Hall on Saturday 09 February 2013. A total of 40 people of all ages made the descent over the main balcony and down to the footpath. Cr Jo McNally of the Southern Downs Regional Council abseiled to provide her support which was very welcome. Other notable events were a donaon to the Glennie Heights Group from RPMS engineers represented by Adam Colrain. A new Rover Scout Mel Wallis was also invested while at the mid point including the handover of badges from Crew Leader Michael See. Special thanks go to Eugene Thompson and the enre Regional Abseiling Crew for making the event the a success. Scouts provides opportunies for personal growth and challenge for youth members from 6 years to 26 years and for adults of all ages. Scout groups are in Clion, Warwick (Glennie Heights), Killarney and Stanthorpe within our immediate area. KURILPA SCOUT TROOP VISIT THE RFDS BRISBANE BASE Featured on the $20 note is Rev John Flynn, founder of the Aerial Medical Service which eventually became known as the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) Aer draing a report on the history and growth and present role of the RFDS, Patrol Leader Braeden Curs connued on the theme of how the RFDS supports our Community and organised a visit to the RFDS Brisbane base at the Brisbane Airport. Thanks to the Brisbane Base Manager, Mark Bell through whose efforts it was possible for the Scouts to not only visit the RFDS Brisbane Base but also to have the opportunity to go airside and see first-hand how the aircra are used to aend to medical emergencies, clinic runs and how the RFDS Brisbane Base serves the communies in QLD and Northern NSW. The Brisbane Base’s two King Air B200 aircra are allocated to serve the Southeast QLD area, however are somemes called upon to meet with other RFDS aircra halfway and take paents back to Brisbane. available one of their King Airs before it took off for a scheduled clinic run. Aer geng a look inside a King Air aircra and seeing how small they are, the Scouts got to see first-hand how a Crew of two or three, including a pilot, flight nurse and a doctor work on board in such a constrained space to deliver medical help to those who are in need of medical care. The Scouts had lots of quesons. Some facts and figures about the RFDS are as follows: For the year ended 30 June 2012 - Service Area km² - 7,150,000 • Bases – 21 • Aircra – 61 (The 4 th Largest Air fleet in Australia) • Landings – 74,148 (daily average - 203) • Distance flown – 26,597,696km (daily average- 72,870km) • Paent Transports – 40,705 (daily average - 112) Thanks and a big Bravo to the RFDS and Base Manager Mark for a great and informave visit. 2ND TOOWOOMBA COMPLETE STATE SIGN-ON 2nd Toowoomba Scout Group parcipated in the State Sign-on weekend recently on Saturday 9 February. Each secon provided acvies or displays for visitors to enjoy and Leaders were on hand to show through dens and answer any quesons. Youth Members aended in their uniform and parcipated in acvies. The Group’s treasurer devised a fantasc scavenger hunt that took everyone through the CBD and had everyone looking high and low so they could answer the quesons. It was a very enjoyable day and we believe a great way to encourage new members to Scoung. Chrisne Mundell, Joseph Burton & Oliviah Burton construct a camp table as part of a stac display.
