You know what Orban has to offer. Maybe
you know whal the others have to offer.
Now it's time you found out what makes
Orange County the most intelligent choice
for your broadcast audio processing application,
Orange County offers you the widest range
of comprehensive level control products and
the best performance in the business.
Orange County lntroduces
Freedom Of Choice
Ask 10 audio people to define the best
audio processor and you'll get 12 different
answers. Probably all wrong.
DAP emphasizes split-band techniques and
energy distribution. Modulimiter talks of true
RMS limiting (?l) and electro-optical attenuators.
Moseley believes in wideband processing
and symmetrical modulation. Etc.,
Orange County's view is that the degree and
type of signal processing must be compatible
with your market, your management and your
corporate objectives. Instead of telling you
what the best audio processor is, we'd
rather ask what you want it to be.
to do with making your needs fit our
preconceptions.
We have a product capability ranging all the
way from our modest, but powerful, VS-2
Stressor to the f ull-blown CLX-S / FM Stereo
Processor.
VS-2 Stressor
This unassuming device contains three separate
fundamental level control functions in a
familiar, friendly package: A peak-level limiter,
with variable peak asymmetry, for absolute
overmodulation protection; A multi-ratio
broadband compressor to control dynamics
or provide loudness enhancement; and an
effective expander/gate which eliminates
noise and distracting modulation effects. A
unique "Contour" mode causes the Compressor
to act as a dynamic-equalizet, pteventing
the loss of high{requencies in the
presence of heavy bass lines. The emphasis
is on simplicity of operation in a low cost
package. All operating parameters are adjustable
with hidden controls and switches. This
mono unit is completely at home at the
transmitter site, or at the studio used in
the newsroom, talk-studio or as a DJ
microphone processor.
lf that sounds evasive, it isn't meant to
be. lt's simply a reflection of our commitment
to providing resu lts-o riented, cost-effective
solutions to real needs. And that has nothing

This powerful and versatile unit is available
with your choice of three different types of
Equalizers combined with the extraordinary
CLX Dynamic Range Processor. The VS-1 is
unparalleled in its operational flexibllity
and high performance. lt features the same
level control functions as its little brother,
the VS-2, but with fully adjustable equalization
characteristics available in the Compressor
Side Chain mode. The Equalizer may also be
routed Pre or Post the CLX unit for added
benefit. The VS-1 represents the ultimate
choice for lhe senous programmer or engineer,
with applications ranging from final transmitter
limiter through production room aid.
..
Similar to the VS-1 in packaging, this unit
features a pair of CLX Dynamic Range
Processor modules with a unique High-
Frequency Limiter and is unrivalled in
performance and flexibility in FM-stereo
applications. This unit may be used at the
studio ahead of your STL, utilizing an
Optimod-FM at the transmitter, for greatlv
improved operation from that device. But the
CtX-S/FM will clearly demonstrate its superiority
when fitted with its optional Low-Pass
Filter card and used with your existing
stereo generator. A single channel unit is
available for use in mono FM and TV
applications.
.::
Retaining the performance of the CLX S / FM,
the VS-3/FM presents an uncomplicated and
ecomonical option for demanding broadcasters.
An unusual feature of this processor is the
plug-in programming card, which contains all
the operating parameter adjustments and
settings. Programmers and engineers may
now determine appropriate optimum settings
for given formats and distribute hard-wired cards
to group or clienl stations, ensuring consistenl
performance. Pre-programmed cards for most
formats are available from Orange County,
based on our experience and observations with
hundreds of customers.
