USING THE SPOTTING SCOPE
BEFORE USE
TRIPOD MOUNTING
Before use - unscrew (anti-clockwise)
both the protective objective lens cap
and the eyepiece cap.
TIP - Always replace both caps after
use to protect the optics of your spotting
scope. Never over-tighten the
protective caps and always ensure you
align the thread correctly to prevent
cross threading. Objective lens cap Eyepiece cap
USING THE EYEPIECE
Using the Standard Olivon
Zoom eyepiece 20-60x (T800/800ED)
22-68x (T900/900ED)
The standard Olivon zoom eyepiece offers a
magnification of 20/22x through to 60/68x.
For a wider view use the eyepiece towards the
20/22x end, to zoom in to a subject use towards
the 60/68x. To change magnification twist the
zoom ring on the eyepiece through the zoom
range to the required magnification. (fig 1).
For optimum viewing and particularly useful
for spectacle wearers- the standard Olivon
Zoom eyepiece features a twist eyecup (fig
2). Twist the eyecup clockwise to raise (anticlockwise
to lower). Adjust to your individual
viewing requirements.
If the eyepiece has been removed (fig 3).
To re-insert an eyepiece - loosen the twist lock
wheel on the body of the spotting scope by
turning anti clockwise. (fig 4). Do not completely
unscrew - a few turns is usually adequate. Push
the eyepiece fully into the body of the spotting
scope and tighten the twist lock wheel by
turning clockwise. Reverse the above procedure
to remove an eyepiece. Never try to unscrew
the eyepiece from the scope body - always use a
push/pull motion.
The base of the spotting scope supports a
double ended 1/4” & 3/8” standard tripod
screw fitting.
Attach the spotting scope to your tripod
via the tripods quick release plate.
Always follow your tripod manufacturers
instructions.
Using an Olivon tripod
The Olivon T800/T800ED/T900/T900ED
spotting scope tripod shoe is designed to
fit directly in to most Olivon tripod heads
without the need for a quick release plate.
Remove the Olivon quick release plate
from the tripod head and lower the front
edge of the scope shoe into the tripod
shoe socket (fig 5). Lower the back edge
in to the socket until it clicks in to place.
All Olivon tripod heads include a lever
lock which locks the spotting scope to the
tripod head. Always make sure the lever is
in lock position before using scope.
TIP - To avoid potential accidents, always
make sure the tripod head is securely
fastened and tripod legs are locked firmly in
to place before attaching your scope.
Scope angle adjustment
Once the scope is mounted securely to
your tripod you can adjust the scope to
your individual viewing requirements by
loosening the tripod sleeve adjustment
screw, (fig 6) allowing you to rotate the
scope body through 360 degrees.
Always ensure the tripod sleeve
adjustment screw is fully tightened and
scope is secure before use.
SUN SHADE
FOCUSSING
For optimum viewing in sunny conditions,
twist-pull out the sun shade to help reduce
glare from the sun (fig 7).
Locate your subject by looking through the spotting scope. Adjust focus by
moving the focus wheel on the spotting scope body - turn either clockwise or
anti-clockwise until the image becomes clear and sharp.
Sun Shade
Sun Shade
TIP - Use the built-in target to help locate
your subject (fig 8).
TIP - When changing magnification of the eyepiece (zooming in or out) always
re-focus using the focus wheel to ensure your subject remains sharp.
