<strong>Construction</strong> <strong>in</strong> <strong>DBR</strong><br />
Deerfield<br />
Deerfield Road Underpass -Please be advised that start<strong>in</strong>g June 20, 2011 Deerfield<br />
Road will be closed at the Deerfield Road Metra underpass until July 11, 2011. Therefore<br />
the road will be fully closed to both directions <strong>of</strong> traffic. It is recommended that motorists<br />
use alternate routes. The underpass will be open for the Family Days events on July 3 & 4.<br />
Lake Cook Road -Traffic will be reduced to one lane <strong>in</strong> each direction (from Wilmot<br />
Road to east <strong>of</strong> Ph<strong>in</strong>gsten Road) for the entire duration <strong>of</strong> the project. Motorists are advised<br />
to seek alternate routes <strong>in</strong> order to avoid anticipated delays as a result <strong>of</strong> lane closures.<br />
The project will consist <strong>of</strong> pavement patch<strong>in</strong>g from Wilmot Road to Deer Lake Road.<br />
Additional work will <strong>in</strong>clude the reconstruction <strong>of</strong> traffic signals with<strong>in</strong> the project limits,<br />
geometric improvements, water ma<strong>in</strong> replacement and sewer manhole rehabilitation. The<br />
exist<strong>in</strong>g water ma<strong>in</strong>, which is owned and ma<strong>in</strong>ta<strong>in</strong>ed by the Village <strong>of</strong> Deerfield, has failed<br />
several times over the past several years. The water ma<strong>in</strong> will be reconstructed <strong>in</strong> a location<br />
outside <strong>of</strong> the proposed pavement. The replacement <strong>of</strong> the water ma<strong>in</strong> will <strong>in</strong>clude new<br />
valves, hydrants, and new service connections to each property. A new water ma<strong>in</strong> system<br />
will provide for better service to the public with fewer disruptions and a lower overall<br />

Bannockburn<br />
Route 22 Widen<strong>in</strong>g Project: The Ill<strong>in</strong>ois Department <strong>of</strong> Transportation Route 22<br />
Pavement Widen<strong>in</strong>g Project is well underway. The Project area beg<strong>in</strong>s on Lakeside Drive<br />
cont<strong>in</strong>ued on page 2
construction cont<strong>in</strong>ued from page 1<br />
<strong>in</strong> Bannockburn and cont<strong>in</strong>ues east to US Highway Route 41 <strong>in</strong> Highland Park. The Project <strong>in</strong>cludes new concrete pavement, left<br />
turn lanes, planted medians, new traffic signals and new METRA Railroad cross<strong>in</strong>g gates. Pathways will also be <strong>in</strong>cluded along<br />
with parkway landscap<strong>in</strong>g. The additional lanes and medians construction will cont<strong>in</strong>ue <strong>in</strong>to the summer <strong>of</strong> 2012. The METRA<br />
Railroad cross<strong>in</strong>g is anticipated to be rebuilt <strong>in</strong> either October or November 2011 with a complete clos<strong>in</strong>g <strong>of</strong> Half Day Road east<br />
<strong>of</strong> Telegraph Road for approximately seven days.<br />
South Lakeside Drive - The road improvements along South Lakeside Drive will start on may 23, 2011 and has an anticipated<br />
completion date <strong>of</strong> July 5, 2011.<br />
Telegraph Road - The road improvements along Telegraph Road from Wilmot Road to Route 22 will start on June 20, 2011<br />
and has an anticipated completion date <strong>of</strong> September 12, 2011. Telegraph Road will be widen<strong>in</strong>g approximately 1 1/2 feet on<br />
each side and a new recycled asphalt gravel shoulder will be added, similar to the one on south Telegraph Road.<br />

Whole Foods Deerfield Donates Over $4000<br />
The Whole Foods Market store <strong>in</strong><br />
Deerfield cares about its community.<br />
Actively support<strong>in</strong>g its communities<br />

core values. On Tuesday, April<br />
5th, Whole Foods Market donated<br />
five percent <strong>of</strong> the day’s sales to the<br />
<strong>DBR</strong> <strong>Chamber</strong> <strong>of</strong> Commerce “Dollars<br />
for Scholars”.<br />
The response from our community<br />
was amaz<strong>in</strong>g and a donation <strong>in</strong><br />
the amount <strong>of</strong> $4,193 was made<br />
by Whole Foods to the <strong>Chamber</strong>’s<br />
Scholarship Fund. This money will<br />
<strong>in</strong>sure future college scholarships.<br />
The <strong>Chamber</strong> awards $11,000 each<br />
year to graduat<strong>in</strong>g high school seniors<br />
<strong>in</strong> the 60015 zip code. These<br />
scholarships are made possible each<br />
year by donations and fundrais<strong>in</strong>g,<br />
