Dear reader,
This issue of our newsletter is the third version
of it and we were greatly encouraged
by your feedback to continue this project.
When I was starting to write this issue of
the Weld times, the economic situation from
the view of exporting goods from Europe
was changing in a positive way say the US
Dollar became stronger as well as many
other foreign currencies. On the other hand
we can feel that customers get possibilities
to expand their business or refresh equipment.
This seems to be that the economic
is accelerating. But of this is a permanent
trend or just an intermediate high, we will
see. During the last year we continued to
develop our systems, new equipment as
well as extensions. You will read more in
this issue. As we always did we give you
information about local markets around
the globe. Our new products raise the level
of monitoring, regulation and keep your
production effective with reasonable investment.
Let our equipment weld your product,
make your customer happy. This is your and

Reliable welding of aluminum and
copper with friction spot welding (RPS)
A reliable joining alternative for welding aluminum, brass and copper
to a regular spot weld, but the joint
mechanism is very much different.
The welding head can be mounted
on any frame, robot or similar to
place joints on the desired location.
From the end of the year there is a
machine available at SNG in Beijing
for testing joints. Please contact SNG
for assistance.

Seminar on Advances in Resistance
Welding“ Sept 22 nd to 24 th 2010
The meeting takes place every 2 nd year and takes place in Hamburg
Two years ago the 5 th meeting had
been hosted by Harms & Wende
partner Huys Industries in Toronto
with great success. This year Harms
& Wende has the pleasure to be the
host of the meeting. Many interesting
contributions have been registered
and will show the actual stage of

Friction spot welding offers unusual
joints in a very reliable way.
Our RPS 100 system provides a
divided tool consisting of a pin
and sleeve which leaves no hole
in the joint position. The offi cial
name on the patent is “Refi ll
Friction Spot Welding”. Therefore
the welded joint looks similar
today’s resistance welding.
The meeting is organized in co-operation
with Swantec (Copenhagen, Denmark)
and comprises the Sorpas user
meeting as well as XPRESS meeting
which will give a intense interchange
of information on different interests in
the fi eld of resistance welding.

From the different markets
China
Volkswagen China purchases large prototype system
In early spring Volkswagen China decided to implement a major Prototype system with
Harms & Wende inverter technology. Several guns can be connected to the inverter, depending on the
actual requirement. The system has been implemented by our Chinese partner SNG with great success.
Welding & Cutting Beijing
The fair took place end of May 2010 beginning of June in the new exhibition facilities close to the Beijing
Capital Airport. Celebrating five years of partnership between Harms & Wende we were happy to see
many friends at our booth. Despite the crisis many new customers showed their interest in our product.
The highlights were the high-end Genius product family as well as the friction spot welding system.
We will certainly return in 2011 to Shanghai and look forward to be there.
